Evolve Alpha sign up is LIVE!

the monsters seem like the ones most people will want to play as...having to pay extra for them seems stupid beyond belief...it's like if Titanfall charged extra for better Titans

I was thinking maybe picking this up when it was cheaper, but with all this crap they are pulling I will have to pass alas Colonial Marines.

My guess is that even once this goes on sale, there should still be enough people to play since it only requires 5 in any given match. Unlike games like Titanfall where you want a full 10-12 or whatever it is.

That is, unless the game is a total flop. But from what I played in the alpha it seemed decent enough to warrant a purchase at $20 or something.

Not necessary. If you think you're really going to enjoy the game and want to squeeze every ounce of playtime you can out of it, getting in day one is the only way to do it.

It will be helluva fun at my LAN parties is my main thought as I can't stand Battlefield anymore, I refuse to give EA another dime for what they did to my franchise

Monster was ok. I liked hunters much more myself.

I get people being upset but this type of typically seems to be the weakest of the set. Maybe not so here, only time will tell.

Either way I'm glad I keep blinders on for DLC. Gaming is much more enjoyable if you just ignore this stuff.

Turtle Rock statement on Evolve DLC backlash...

Regarding DLC:

"A lot of folks seem to be under the impression that we've got all this content done and we shave off a hunk to sell separately. That just isn't the case. When Evolve hits the shelves, none of the DLC will be done. Behemoth won't be done. None of the planned DLC hunters or monsters will be done. The only exception to this might be some skins that were working on now while we wait for all the final stages of packaging, manufacturing etc. to finish.

If we thought we could have finished all those monsters and hunters for ship we would have put them in the box. (Keep in mind, we pretty much have to have the game done about 2-3 months before it's available to you guys...we can keep fixing bugs and such, but content is locked.) The bundles that include 4th and 5th monsters, hunters, etc., just mean that when they are done and we put 'em out, you get 'em.

Hunters and monsters are a pretty big undertaking, they cost a lot of money and time to make. We're hoping that once people see how much new hunters and monsters bring to the game that they'll feel like they got their money's worth.

As we got closer to finishing Evolve we ended up with designs for a bunch of monster and hunters that we just didn't have the time and money to make. Instead of throw them all out, why not put together a budget to make them as DLC? Means more content for the people who love the game and want more. It also means all those ideas get to see the light of day. Oh yeah, and it means more work for TRS and we can keep paying our bills and making cool stuff! wink

That's all well and good...but our number one rule for DLC is never split the community. Never.
So we worked it out so that any DLC maps are free, any new game modes are free. Then, recognizing that not everyone wants to buy DLC, we made sure that even if you didn't purchase any of the paid content, you could still play with people who did! So if I buy a new monster or hunter, and you don't, we can still play together. You may not want to buy it, but your original purchase of the game will be enhanced by it anyway because you can still get into games with people who wanted to buy them. Hell, you can even set the DLC characters and monsters up as opponents in solo games"

Glad to hear they are not splitting the community. We would never actually know if they are telling the truth about the DLC or not, but I think the biggest issue for me is a single monster costing $15.

I learned enough during the first two Alpha's to know I want the game. Pre ordered it during the second Alpha. While I don't think the game is worth $60 it is going to be fun and if it will entertain me I am not sorry I paid $40 dollars for it.

Thank you Valve for giving me free crap to sell which buy's me games.

I think some of the cost on the DLC is a bit steep but time may reduce the price and if the quality is up there people will pay. I usually dont care enough to buy but who know's what they will deliver.

First two alphas showed me just the opposite. No balance, long drawn out chase forever matches, just didnt find any real excitement in this title. Might pick up when its on sale in a year.

So what time is Evolve supposed to be hitting our libraries? That last inforgraphic says it should have been today, a few hours ago.

I was in pre alpha, wonder if I can just load Beta access via steam or do I need another code? I shut down the email I had for it due to spam :(

Had a few minutes to try the Alpha. 21:9 3440x1440 works in game with correct FOV, but the menus are unusable. I'll be playing it at 2560x1440 until the menus are sorted out.

I gotta say, the game is not too bad. It feels more polished than when I played it before, though it is still about 50%+ running around in a circle.

One stupid thing is that the tutorial for the Medic says the medgun can revive, but apparently that only works with the other medic character...

Was playing on Xbone just now and game froze up. Not sure if Live went down, oh well. Downloading now on the PC. Game looks like ass on the Xbox, but a friend wanted to play some. That's like the third dame time a game has frozen/live goes down while in mid-game. Stupid shitty consoles, lol.

At least the BETA ran better than the Alpha, as I expected, currently getting an average of 40 FPS at 2160p at Very High settings on my rig with FXAA enabled.

Still haven't fixed the lobbies. So no pre-ordered / buy for me.

Well I dunno about the haters and QQer's, but im having as much fun as I did back when I tried this out at PAX Prime last, being the monster is just a fucking flaming good time! My new 980 makes this game run awesome at full settings!

And yes, that is me :D

I don't see this game being ready for pc in 30 days. Joining matchmaking as a group is a nightmare and we are seeing dcs left and right.

It is fun when it works.

I think they need to work on the chase mechanics a bit. The only thing more frustrating than spending most of the match chasing is also having a trapper on your team that is useless when you do catch up.

If it wasn't for the dlc shit i would preorder, game is a blast and the visuals are just awesome imo

Oh I guess I only have L4D2 and not the first one :p. So thats why I didn't get it. Oh well.

Honestly the game doesn't feel like l4d to me. Having one big monster feels much more like raiding in an mmo.

You pretty much echoed my same concerns. I think to get the most out of this game you really need to play with the same group of people over and over again, grouping with random anons is just an exercise in frustration...

same with other classes..
medic who goes full snipe mode, or assault who can't go face to face, or sup who can't shield all ruins the game.

On the other hand, it makes the game more fun when you have a full team with mic

People being bad at the other classes doesn't bug me nearly as much. I don't mind losing if I still had some fun in combat. Spending the entire game running in circles and never getting into decent combat is brutally boring.

Played 17 hours straight. Got maybe 3 disconnects?

Eastern: Toronto, Canada

I have the best ISP though: Start Communications.

did you play with a couple people MrAgmoore?

Joining groups solo was fine. Joining them with a couple friends in you party caused all sorts of issues.

I do like the game but not $60 of like lol. For me it's a $19.99 purchase unless they add a crap ton of content. By the time it hits that price no one will be playing lol

installing now on my Windows 10 hard drive...don't like installing beta games on my main drive...

wow this is a really fun game...wasn't expecting it to be this good...well balanced, excellent graphics (except for water and foliage), excellent controls...you really need a well organized team when playing as the Hunters though

It cannot resurrect but the medic gun can revive a downed player unless they are dead. It just takes a while. You dont have to be in the fight to do it though.

Weird, I was trying to that and it was taking a very long time...long enough that I wasn't able to get them up before the monster came after me.

when the player playing the Monster decides to hide and run around the map instead of fighting it becomes annoying and boring but when everything comes together it's crazy fun
