Watch Dogs

I tried the new v337.88 drivers and I still have the same issues with major FPS drops, while panning the camera or while driving and turning. on all settings

Yerp.. That's why the Nvidia recommended settings right now are a joke. All linked to paging off the HDD constantly. Entering and exiting a tunnel exploits this problem 10x worse also. From 500 series, to 600, to 700, to Titans.. Same story.. It seems like a very patchable problem. Let's hope come tomorrow we have a 1.XX patch waiting for us to download. If it's released in its current condition, people are gonna have a bad time.

All I know is that both my cards will read between 90%~99% usage and 60fps+ while standing still and once I pan the camera it's down to single digit frames!

it's pretty obvious the copy nvidia used to write their tweak guide is different than the one everyone's been playing for the last couple of days. we'll know for certain in 12~ hours.

Same.. This is Nvidias recommend settings for the GTX 690 on my rig. I wouldn't complain because I do have a 2GB.. I get that much. But Ubisoft and Nvidia are clearly recommending these settings for 2GB cards and it's craptacular and unplayable.

And the god darn bloom in this game is out of control.. I'd kill to be able to disable it. It's horrid.

I highly doubt it will make that big of a difference.

Exactly. AC4 same thing happened.. Same "IT'S NOT EVEN RELEAESED YET" choir.. Nvidia releases new driver, releases performance guide.. Game comes out and... Nothing changed..

We've got a second thread for this game in the general gaming area. Someone in there says they have everything at Ultra and took shadows down to High and they were thrilled with the results. Worth a try.

337.88 drivers as well. (Nvidia)

ac4 doesn't have horrendous stuttering, it just runs like shit.

Can you guys confirm the oversights shown in the below video?
Its a comparison of GTA4 and Watch Dogs. Alot of this stuff is just pathetic looking, and this is GTA4 not 5.
No dynamic headlights on cars, no deformation of cars when hitting things....etc

Wow, if that's true then that's pretty lame. The game looks alright from the surface, but it looks like they skimped on the small stuff. Next gen...

This game is eating vram likes its going out of style and the funny thing is it looks to be on par with sleeping dogs texture wise and that game barely cracks the 1gb mark in vram wtf??

lol... Ubisoft being Ubisoft

So after testing six cards we immediately halted testing. The game was a mess, the results all over the place with many anomalies and offsets, Ultra Quality settings at Ultra HD would even use up to 6+ GB on the graphics memory. Ultra HD became a stutter-fest especially in-game at road at crossings and with cars passing by.

Playing on Realistic, peds will fall over/stumble after 1 shot but it takes 3-5 shots to kill them.
Also, headshots are impossible due to the atrocious mouse controls.

Yeah something isn't right when I turn all setting to lowest with no AA and I see 1800MB-2000MB being used on my rig

You have to wonder how we even made it this far on 2GB of VRAM or less. Is as if there is an ulterior motive to sell video cards at play here.

Even members with x2 780ti are have major hitching/stuttering. I don't think this is a Vram issue, needs a patch!

Are you saying you're surprised games aren't using more than 2 GB effectively, or that Ubisoft made an unoptimized piece of garbage on PC to move more video cards?

Those are 3 GB cards.
The issue here being that 3 GB is not enough. People on SLi 780 Ti setups are also most likely using higher resolutions // MSAA, compounding the problem.

i was thinking about getting a second 770 but if wolfenstein and watch dogs are anything to go by i think i might have to consider selling it and buying a 780 or waiting for maxwell...

I refuse to play the game any further until I see major improvements, It's unacceptable to see using lowest setting and still stuttering

I don't mind upgrading when I see visuals and graphics that make me think HOLY HECK THAT IS AMAZING!! NEED TO UPGRADE ASAP!

None of these "Next Gen" games are making me even come close to that. I just don't get where this sudden jump of massive amounts of VRAM are needed.

Seriously, every one so far has had huge VRAM usage....

just read this review online...not from any big name site but I'm thinking that this will be what most reviews will look like...

http://www.flickeringmyth.com/2014/05/watch-dogs-video-game-review.html

"Watch Dogs looks incredibly average"

"The world the character inhabits, despite being on a superior console than GTAV, looks no better than last year’s smash hit"

"The story is very generic, bog-standard revenge"

"The gameplay, again, disappoints...The side missions within Watch Dogs are a particular disappointment; they never quite manage to be interesting or challenging and feel like a forced addition to bump up the playing time....Put simply, the whole hacking process is far too easy to be of any challenge and feels like a cheap marketing gimmick to suck in the masses to buy it"

some of you guys are in denial and want the game to be good so badly...the writings been on the wall for months...early copies leak- nope don't trust leaked copies...early reviews- nope site is not big enough...big name site reviews- nope can't trust them, they are paid off...the game is going to be average at best...I wanted to buy it as well but not any more...gameplay matters more then graphics to me and Watch Dogs looks to be average at best in this regard...I predicted scores in the 8/10 range but now I'm thinking I might have been optimistic

the game seems both very repetitive(which GTA V was) but with a much less interesting missions. But the story, acting, dialogue has been weak.

The side missions which seem constant, yet completely unnecessary, are all easy/boring/same thing over and over. The rewards, as far as I can tell, aren't particularly enticing to make you want to do them either. Loads of conversations to listen in on normally or through hacking but none are interesting, well 1 in 50. It's very non adult, and doesn't have much humour. I've heard one fart joke and that is about as funny as it got. Lacking the cutting edge wit or more adult/normal banter it's all a bit tame and neutered.

Performance issues are also making it pretty horrible to play, driving is hilariously awful both because of low frame rate and awful control.

It's killing time but really not drawing me in. Has next to no progression feel in it as (afaik) every gun, every car, it's all available straight away

It's not all bad, if I could pretend it was running at 120fps smooth, then it looks decent enough, it's not brilliant. The really only good effect is water on ground + lighting on water, day time/night + no rain all look a bit drab.

No punishment/bonus for stealing money off certain people is a huge mistake. You can just run around getting loads of money straight away. There is no "hack too many people and police come check the area" mechanic. Also despite giving everyone a job/story/name, there is no effectively karma mechanic which they could SO easily have done. IE hack the bank accounts of a single mother who works for a charity... people in the world dislike the vigilante, hack a rich wall street banker, or a rapist, or murderer, and the people in the world like you more. There is a name/back story for every hacking target yet it's irrelevant.
