Battlefield 4 **Official Discussion Thread**

I upgraded my latest Nvidia drivers, and updated punkbuster. Amazingly there was an update for punkbuster already and the latest patch didn't cover it. Gained almost 10fps at same settings. Went from crashing on 1 out of 5 matches to 1 out of 10.
 
With all the patches, new drivers, thousand EA "solutions" and the Recommended PC requirementes still can't play.

Thanks EA for taking my money so I can shove a digital key up my arse.
 
What happening to rezzing and recon dropping beacons? seems non existent now.....

No kidding, ive noticed a severe lack of teamwork this time around from all of the classes, less ammo droppers, fewer medpack drops, even fewer beacon users....though the beacons are an unlock a few levels up on Recon so I guess that could play a part with that class. Whatever class I play, im sure to use the hell out of the support features even though I tend to play lone wolfish or use my teammates as a distraction/meat shield, lol.

Its a new game; people are just giddy as schoolboys running around looking at water and testing out maps. Give it some time and the squad co-op and tactics will pick back up...or go play bf3.

How did you update punkbuster outside of updating BF4 in Origin?

eh they were good at it once upon a time. bf 1942,Vietnam, and 2 had great teamwork aspects. they just lost their way.

It has nothing to do with Dice and everything to do with the players who don't attempt to work as a squad. My friends and I always work as a squad throwing spawn beacons down, ammo packs, and rezzing each other. Occasionally I run into pubs who do the same, but most of the time people are just playing CoD style, which is really annoying sometimes. I just cycle through the squads with the hope that I find one that actually issues orders and follows them.

It's the players, not the game.

I just join servers and run through squads until I find one spawning on each other with varying classes.
 
I just find it comical to read someone saying "Dice sucks, BF4 Sucks, blah blah blah. I'm going to back to BF3" Lol. What? Who made BF3? :rolleyes:
 
I think main reason for not doing revives (also experiencing this annoyance as I have always tried to rez every dead person I see) is that the rez timer is shorter now and (the main annoyance) is the paddles are glitched half the time.

I have used the paddles like 4-5 times on one dead guy and it did not res (yes I know about pressing space to accept rez). I play with a group of guys that work together and we always have two medics most the time and even one of my team mates was having the problem the other night trying to rez me.

Same thoughts. Most seem to be using other attachments like the mass and such.
 
I do agree that the paddles are currently bugged. I'd say it doesn't work 25% of the time though rather than 50%, at least in my experience. Not saying it gets a pass because it does need to get fixed. The timer doesn't bother me as much as the fact that 25% of the time I can't rez the person.

I mainly play medic class because it's rare to have them on the field. It seems most assault classes play as assault, which in my opinion we don't need more of. I'll stick with the paddles and med-pack. They can use the attachments if that's what they like.
 
i wont revive you if an enemy still has you in their sights. i've been reviving a ton less in BF4 because it seems like there's never a good time to do so. either i die while i'm trying to clear the enemy out, or by the time i'm able to clear them the revive window has closed. i've left a lot of teammates on the ground because of this.

there's also a lack of teammates trying, or people just running around looking at how pretty the game is or how bitchin' their ACE23 looks with a tac light.

I am also more cautious in BF4 when reviving. I usually wait a second or two before attempting to revive if I can't kill the enemy first because usually the guy who shot your teammate ends up moving onto another target by that time. I think it has to do with the fact the players don't revive with full health unless you charge up the paddles anymore. There is little chance they can jump behind cover after getting the revive in this one. In BF3 they had a better chance of getting to safety before dying again.

I'm fine with the changes. Like I mentioned earlier, the only thing that really bothers me is the fact that the paddles don't work 25% of the time.
 
yeah i'm fine with the changes too. makes reviving a little more difficult and strategic.
 
In 15 rounds of playing TDM/DOM/CQ last night only had 1 crash. Was able to take 1st place each round also :D I'm loving how the games plays, so smooth and hit detection has been awesome for me, I drop people so fast. I'd say 90% of the time if an enemy and I both engage each other at the same time I'll come out surviving. Also been able to even take fire from from behind and turn around and pop them in the head, that really gets people upset when that happens lol.

Was trying to get 1st place with no deaths each round till Rattle77 decided to join the other team, he was the only one that would kill me.. damn you Rattle!!!! :p JK man gg's. We had some awesome games.

Here's some scores from last night, almost all on foot run N' gun taking bases, no vehicle whoring, just medding people like crazy keeping my team alive...

Unlocks are partlialy responsible for the general lack of team cohesiveness, tens of thousands of players are running around trying to buff their gear, playing a game within a game, obliviois to their fellow feam mates who are struggling to PTFO. These people aren't in a team, they're just in the server.

Regarding the apparent lack of beacons and revives, I believe map size is a huge factor. The maps are just so pathetically small that you can reach anywhere on foot in a matter of minutes. I use beacons and see the benefit of them, but the average player would rather run across the map for 30 seconds and there is little consequence to them.

The small maps are apparently a conscious design choice intended to make matches more frenetic, with more of a Call of Duty inspired pace. But imo, it's attracted that type of quick reward player to bf4 as well.
 
Nice playing. Do you play on HC servers or standard? I feel like HC is much less forgiving. For example if someone came up behind you there is no chance in hell you'll be able to turn around and take him out... Unless he's really bad :p
Thnx, I usually play standard mode. Although I do enjoy playing as recon in Hardcore servers, but none of my friends play HC so I end up playing in standard mode servers. HC will make you play smarter, that's what I've really been focusing on alot lately. Been playing PC FPS's for 15 years now since Delta Force 1 in 1998. I've always played like rambo in the past where I'd constantly rush/attack usually getting the highest score, most kills, but also the most deaths. Playing S&D in COD I started learning how to play smarter and hold back from rushing, but in BC2 I started playing rambo style again. Now in BF4 It's all about knowing the maps and knowing how to play smart.
 
Oh, no. It's bad enough Operation Locker is basically a more confined Metro. Metro is now coming back? I thought we were finally rid of that thing.

It might just be me, but I only play HC servers. It seems like I get crushed in standard, I don't know if its my play style or the 3D spotting or what. Also, the health you have in standard servers is absolutely ridiculous. I feel like you need to double or triple the amount of hits in order to bring someone down.

Just found something out last night... switch seats the exact second you flare in little bird = unlimited flares.

Learned this from a LVL 100 that has a 10.45 KDR that already has 100 service stars and 7,000 kills with the little bird lol.
 
I don't think you played BF3 very much...

I did indeed - there are plenty of servers you could switch to if the map rotation *eventually* got to metro. I'm just saying, just because you don't enjoy it doesn't mean that there aren't other options out there..

This is true, I said this with BF3. They should have given less points for kills and more points for responding to support requests or team orders.

Instead, a kill is worth 100pts+ .. Why should anyone care about the other points?

Because I'm the squad member getting kills, dropping health packs, reviving team members & receiving a ton of ribbons & medals = more points than lone wolf.
