I reinstalled BF4 this weekend and I have to say the game is so much superior to BF1. Had fun playing. Also, this is the last time I buy a WWI based theme. That has not helped the game in my opinion either.

I agree. I ended up playing the 10hr trial of BF1, and while it was fun, I couldn't get into the Alt-WW1 style weapons.

I prefer modern shooters like BF4/COD4/MW1-3

Since BF4 was the last good modern type multiplayer vehicle shooter. What's the next game out coming like this, that's not World War 1 themed ?

- Star Wars BF2 is rumored to be more realistic military type, and not dumbed down like the first release.
- Is there a BF5 in the works ?
- Or how bout a good WW2 BattleField like the classic original just with modern graphics and bigger maps for huge outdoor battles.

I would doubt they improve. Especially since they have yet to even try to fix the most glaring issues of bf1. Dice LA fixed bf4. I have yet to hear what they are up to but since bf4 cte is closing perhaps they will get on with another project. Otherwise, I would expect more console trash.

this isn't really an answer to your question but it makes me think a little bit about my preference in time period. i love BF1 but it has made me realize that i much prefer modern era BF games. before BF1 i was hoping for a WW2 game, now i think the earliest i'd want them to go back is Vietnam.

Will we ever Battlefield happily again in the snowflake era? People seem to expect a unique game that conforms precisely to their personal hierarchy of needs.

i haven't played a BF game yet that i didn't love. DICE makes really freaking fun games. i never particularly wanted a WW1 BF but i'm having a blast with BF1. i was clamoring for a WW2 game but now that i've gotten a 'taste' of it (relatively speaking, with BF1) i realize i prefer modern era.

Another vote for WWII. After CODMW World at War was my favorite. I also had a blast with the Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion.

Yeah, the magic ingredient that keeps me going back to BF4 - and occasionally BF3 - is the asymmetrical vehicle warfare. Do I feel like jumping in a jet? Tank? Heli? Jeep, boat, whatever.. its all there. It's an absolute blast of a playground long after playing infantry hide & seek on the ground gets a little dull.

DICE does make fun, addictive games, and one just accepts that there will be neverending arguments about balance, bugs and everything else they touch.

The last time I played BF4 was exactly one year ago. It was so bad I uninstalled. Because BF4 was so bad, I had no intention of getting BF1 and still don't. Plus, I don't have any desire to play a WW1 game. I don't play any other FPS games but Battlefield and lately I got a desire to play some FPS again.

Bf4 is fast and smooth now. I can really shoot again. Feels great. The CTE really got shit fixed. Plus section 8 server is a great one. It has to be a fully dedicated box and @ 60hz.

Once you press ~ to open the command console, is there a command to quit the game? Typing "quit" doesn't work.

The new in game server browser update dropped. The UI is just as shitastic as BF1s, and the filter/menu is just as slow and clumsy. Is there anyway to use battlelog, and make launching battlelog the default behavior when double clicking the BF4 icon in Origin?

I can only imagine they wanted to kill BF4 off as it was lasting much longer than BF1 will...

This past week I just doubled my RAM from 8 to 16Gb and upgraded my CPU from a 3.5ghz 6-core to a 4.0ghz 8-core and BF4 seems to run even smoother now.

I have been enjoying hardcore mode a lot more now. Does anyone know of any good hardcore rush servers? I may have too many filters set but all I can find is hardcore TDM, which gets old quick.

Is BF4 off-line for anyone else? I can log into Origin and the BF4 launcher but when I go to "multiplayer" it say I am disconnected from EA services.

I played a bit last night. No issues. It has been on and off lately though. Probably origin issues as the servers I play on in bf4 are run independent of ea. Unlike bf1 which is no longer on my hard drive. As always. Fuck you ea.

Do you have a sb6190 or a modem with a Puma 6 chipset by chance?
Google Puma 6 and check it out.

I closed everything out then started everything up, logged back in and it worked.
