NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

So, unless the products price has been eliminated from any official places... I'd suggest you price the product accordingly. I'm sure that If you value the case at $100 nobody will ever bother to check anything... since, for a computer case, its even on the high side. However, if you value something really really small... the alarms may sound, specially since some countries will be getting a few hundreds.

But the M1 is now priceless.. how can you even tax that? ;)

M1 is a package, it is a combination of 1) donation, 2) NCASES.com membership and 3) M1 product

$5 Donation
$90 1 year www.ncases.com membership
$90 Product

That's an interesting idea, since this entire process isn't really quite the same as a normal consumer buying a product from another country. Not sure of any issues doing this, but it's interesting none the less. Also, couldn't the actual shipping & handling charges, or maybe research & development costs be deducted from the total as well?

As far as i can tell you for germany the price you declare the package with should be the same as on the bill we get. I do not know if you are shipping via LL or in your private person, but german owners needs a bill which shows the same as the declared things on the package. Otherwise we will not get our case if the customs hold it back because of no clarifying data on the package and our bill/data do not go with the data on the package.

Yeah, just please declare the real value of the product seperated from the shipping costs ...
customs don't really care for if it is a 'gift' or not ...

So, if we didn't put a phone number in the packing label box, is it not getting shipped?

I wouldn't think a lack of phone number would be a problem but its needed in case of a shipping problem and that could delay it if they couldn't contact you quick enough to correct things. I could be wrong though. I'm just guessing based on what's been said so far. Hopefully nobody will have their cases accidentally shipped, for example, to Thule Greenland. USAF members will get that joke. :D

So, if we didn't put a phone number in the packing label box, is it not getting shipped?

Afaik, it should ship, but according to W360, you accept the risk of any delays caused by not having your phone number added (ie, if it's held in customs).

Not 100% sure, but I think he also mentioned that info from the fields above the free-form shipping label box would automagically be generated for US customers. So in that case, if you added your phone number to the phone number field, but didn't add it to the shipping label box, it should still get added to the actual label anyway.. at least in theory, lol.

So, does anyone know.. in the US, if held by customs for tax/duty/tariff/ransom, approx how much would we have to pay? And how or where do you actually pay for such things??

Thanks Wahaha360 for thinking pro-actively on the customs stuff. It indeed helps to be somewhat truthful on the declaration. I think WiSK's advice is sound: declaring what it is and the "rough" estimated value will help in a lot of countries. As far as I know they put it through a scanner and might open one box in doubt, but when it is like described, they'll just let it through. Whereas it's not according to the description, they'll do an inquiry and you' on the short end of the stick most of the time.

I take risks, but I'm not crazy and I don't think Customs agents are stupid either.

I know you're not crazy. I was thinking about the customers sending you PMs because they think there's an easy way to save a few bucks. Those same customers might also be the ones to do a chargeback on Paypal when their package has been delayed by customs for weeks.

Even if only a few packages are caught, is it worth saving a few euros for 200 people if the few unlucky customers face weeks of delay?

he found that in a keyboard-related forum such keyboard was valued in $1000, and thus the keyboard was taxed accordingly.

It's a nice anecdote. Indeed if there's any reason for them to spot-check, then the first thing they will do is google NCase and there's a very clear price of $205 on Indiegogo. This thread is also not private and contains several discussions about the price. (Hi customs worker!)

So I don't think I have seen this asked yet, but how will we know if our label got printed? I updated all my info on the afternoon of 10/18 as work allowed. Have people been getting updates saying your label was printed or are we just assuming?

The thing is, most customer agents don't give a rats ass, and you need no bill nor anything. If they think the "thing" costs more than declared... they google, they call you, you pay, end of story.

But it seems in Germany the custom agents are a particular pain in the ass type: they want everything perfectly stated on the forms and bills and you don't wanna screw with them  or else you might not get your package.

I still remember when I was into group-buys for keyboard related stuff, and I know that if the organiser was in Germany everything would take out a lot more time because everything was terribly complicated from that end. On the other hand, if the organiser was from the USA... everything went as smoth as silk.

---

So, my point is that I don't care (because in Spain custom agents don't give a shit) if you label it as gift, or price it very low or anything... but I know that many fellows will because of what I just explained. So, I'd try to be ver specific when dealing with customs or a lot of people will be very pissed. I know that should my case be stopped at the customs office I'll have to fork MORE than $100, which is something I knew when I got into the project.

Lets do the right thing. Not because of morals and other shit, but because some people might get screwed if we don't (I'm saying Hi! to those german users who know what I mean regarding their customs).

yeah, in germany they do their work perfectly and blabla ^^... yeah it is hard and thats why we correctly need an invoice, which we can print out and show it to the customer agents and that person compare it to the data on the package what price is written down there... it could take weeks if there is no right invoice which the agent accepts ... hopefully all will work smooth^^...

Invoices will be attached.

I'll figure it out with the postal office, I know Germany is tough.

Didnt see this posted, but it looks like the H220 is back as a Cooler Master unit?

Nice. Looks like they're already available in the US for around $130 (mfg# RL-G24L-24PK-R1).

Isn't 2400RPM a little zippy for a consumer-grade 120mm fan?

No updates about labels being done. Think we're all assuming they already have been, or shortly will be printed, based on W360's last IGG update yesterday..

For those that updated their info (Shipping Label & Phone #) on ncases.com, your information was sent to Taiwan Postal Service for processing this week.

The M1 reservoir is now available for purchase through the FrozenQ web site here.

It is currently available in black or white acetal. Frosted acrylic was also supposed to be an option, but it does not appear on the web site at this time. I will find out if that is no longer available.

I picked the right time to check this thread. Ordered!
Thanks so much for doing this Adamantium, it's great to have a perfect res for this case. Price wasn't bad either, for a custom item, shipping to the UK was the expensive part!

shipping via UPS to Germany over 100$^^.. crazy shit...

last time i ordered something from matrixOrbital i payed via UPS incl taxes etc under 50$^^

edit: will there be an option to buy over highflow.nl like other frozenQ products?

UPS is a courier service and is far more expensive, I was also quoted $100 for UK postage.
USPS is a cheaper option available for $25-$40 USD, at least to the UK.

Maybe we should ask Freddy if he will order some of these.

If not, USPS Priority Mail International $38.15 seems better

Is the frosted option the material for the whole reservoir or just the cover/clear section?

Thanks wisk ... hopefully he will do it, but i could understand him when he mentioned that there could be not so many potential customers ;)

Frosted would be for the reservoir (replace the acetal), the front would remain clear.

Update: Alex says that the frosted Acrylic has to be machined very slowly and is a pain. He says that he can list it if enough want it, but that its price would be higher.

Now that the reservoir is available on Alex's web site, I think I am out of the picture. I will buy one or two like the rest of you. Questions about shipping, materials, etc should be directed to him. If I get any further information from Alex I will forward it on. I would still like to see some test photos of it working in a loop. Alex reconfirmed this morning that he was working on a video for this. I would also really like to see it mounted on the prototype, but unless the prototype owner (The_Cheese) is willing to buy one and mount it for us, I don't see how that can be done. Maybe someone who lives nearby can meet with The_Cheese at a park or somewhere to install it and take some photos.

Im gone put an Ati 290x with watercooling in my m1.

Can you make a package deal for something like:

1) All necessary tubes, fittings etc. for watercooling a CPU and GPU with eligible lenghts for the M1
2) Pump, fans, etc. OR the advice to buy either the H220, h100i or some other model?

Keep the reservoir separate though.

I think more people might be interested? (shout!)

Wahaha, I'm waaaaay jealous that you are going to Taiwan! Enjoy some awesome night market food while you are there.

Frankly, I am amazed at how smoothly this whole operation has been going, you and Necere have done a great job! Can't wait to post pictures of my build!:D

How much more are we talking? $10 usd?

I would def purchase a kit like this.

jeebus, $70...wow

The mass produced EKWB X3-150 is $66. I'm personally pretty surprised that FrozenQ would do a custom part for this kind of price.

You can always go with the H220 if you don't want to pay for a proper reservoir.

Ordered a black res for my black M1! Thanks Alex and Adamantium!! So nice to have a custom res for my case....... This was the last piece of the puzzle (I think...):)

Is there going to be a second run for these? If you're making a list put me down for one. The silver is damn sexy!

...the silver is damn sexy!

I'm keeping the silver one as well. It's even more stunning in person. Not to say the black color isn't - it's pretty slick!. We just never expected the silver to look this good, maybe it's the contrast (on black interior), but oh my, it's something special.

I had some people over the past weekend. I left silver prototype 2 on top of my refrigerator to clear out some space in the apt, every person who pass the refrigerator ask about it, even the girls.
