Dell U2713HM

NO YELLOWING OR BACKLIGHT BLEED
ZERO DEAD PIXELS
NO HUM (tested, it's completely silent)
NO IMAGE RETENTION PROBLEMS
PASSES EVERY SINGLE PIXEL WALK TEST WITH FLYING COLORS
And of course NO PULSE WIDTH MODULATION! :D

Manufactured in September, received unopened.

This is a great checklist, maybe missing cross-hatching. Will go through them in 30 hours on mine.

What are some of the utilities you used?

You know, I only thought to check for cross-hatching now that you've mentioned it. :D It is completely invisible to me from the distance I sit (looks like it'll be 2 to 3 feet, depending on what I'm doing). When I look for it from 1 foot away, I can notice some very slight cross-hatching on light backgrounds. I guess every monitor has it then, since my must be perfect. ;)

To perform the tests you don't really need anything besides your eyes and a couple of web pages. You can use the camera swing test or an oscilloscope, but you can do well with just swinging a pencil. You probably don't have the environment to test for noise, so just make everything as quiet as possible and use your ears.

I was able to get them down to 599 my first time calling. Only issue I had was that I had to set up an account for my place of work.

Excited to finally step up to 1440p!!!! :D

Man I don't know how the hell you guys are getting $599, but every rep I talk to in home, SB, and EPP says they will not do that.

Plus the ship date is now showing as 1/15.....so thanks for cleaning them out!

Just talk to them as if you are buying it for your business and that you are looking to do future purchases of computers/monitors. the rep i talked to said i could buy 2 of them for 550 each.
Tell them you were looking for deals online and you had saw this deal but then realized it was from Australia and wanted to know what is the lowest they will accept for it.
Don't pay attention to that ship date. mine was going to have the 3-5 day shipping. I paid extra and will have it here on Friday.

Nice with Best Buy. Then submit to amazon and amazon will price match again @ $559

Only problem with best buy page is it specifically says "1 year warranty" which several dell people used to argue with me about amazon.

Note to the people paying 599 you actually want to match at 559, you are ripping yourself off by $40 which could pay tax (and if you think you are getting resistance @ $599, then 559 is another ballgame - first agent said they couldn't do that unless I bought four)

Don't pay extra for faster shipping, they gave me the 5 day standard shipping and it's getting here in two anyway because they have warehouses all over the country like amazon.

Why would the warranty be different? Is it a different SKU specifically for a lesser warranty that Best Buy is selling?

Google shopping is showing it for $700 directly for Dell USA just cannot follow the link because it's blocked on my network.

So all you need is a 20% coupon now to get it for 560 at that price, rare 30% would make it $490

Eight days left to buy the $500 GC with $90 bonus, so don't forget if you know you want one later.

at usd 550 and with displayport, pivot, perfect pixels and 3 yeears warranty this dell is a better buy than the overpriced usd 350 koreans, especially OCing to 72Hz

Try a different display if you have one.

i almost wanna say it's just the game.. i can't reproduce it anywhere else. but wtf? why would a game purposely do this?

I had this happen as well in PS2. I took a screenshot while in-game and those blobs showed up in the screenshot. I moved it around and re-sized it just to be sure. So that 100% proves without a doubt, that it's PS2. ;)

If you buy a Korean you're playing with money. You might as well put 350$ on red to get the Dell.

Picked up one of these a couple nights ago. Dell wouldn't budge anymore lower then $624 so I bit and picked one up :)

Should arrive in a few days :D

So I'm about to pick one of these up to replace my 3007WFP-HC. Is there a reason I shouldn't be doing this?

I've heard that the new 30" is coming in March and supposed to be the "shizzle-mah-nizzle" (aka, pretty damn good). Any word on that?

For the record, this monitor cannot get dual-link from the onboard GPU with i3 chips.

A couple people, including one from this forum have told me in the past it will work, but it does not.

Max res from DVI seems to be 1680x1050, vga port can do 2048x1152 but that is too fuzzy.

Motherboard definitely does dual-link, probably just not the DVI-I that this needs.

Very nice monitor but I am concerned with the IPS glow, even at lowest usable brightness.

Bottom of the screen has this eerie annoying glow.

Low cost video card suggestions? I am not a gamer, just want it to be low power use.

I see this too. Tilting the screen up a bit has lessened that, I *think*. So, try that and see if it changes anything. (I just got mine today, so I'm still feeling it out.)

What's amazing about IPS which I forgot (had another dell for awhile before returning it) is the contrast.

I have this at lowest brightness and it's still damn bright to me, will have to use video card adjustment to get it lower but I can still see all shades of grey on the tests for contrast. Looks like I am at a gamma of around 1.5

Switched to hdmi for now because anything below 1920x1080 is useless these days.

Terrified of scratching this, will buy the 3M privacy guard and just use it in glare reduction mode (it's reversible).

Power use at lowest brightness is actually less than the TN monitor it replaced, that's another thing about this over the koreans which everyone was saying don't go below 50-60 watts. Based on my killawatt this is drawing 20 watts or less.

My entire PC, monitor, router, cablemodem, speakers and UPS are drawing 110watts. Wow. With TN panel it was 118watts.

This is probably pointless at 1920x1080 but I do not see cross-hatching in white areas, and wow those whites are very pure, eyeball-seering pure.

My manufacture date is Sept 2012

Found an old ati x1300 which supposedly has dual-link but it doesn't work either, sigh.

You know what's dumb about the design on this - they go to great lengths to not be reflective like the apple display, using matte and no glass - yet the bezel reflects inwards.

The bottom bezel is clearly reflecting the bottom of the display.

Going to get some black matte masking tape and fix that.

AHA! I had a radeon HD 4350 stashed away for a rainy day. Brand new, cannot remember when I bought it but it must have been a clearance price and it's most definitely dual-link dvi-i

Installing now...

Yay! Success. Whoa 2560x1440 is INSANE.

This is where I begin to regret Windows XP with poor text size support, will have to build a custom theme. Unless maybe someone else has already done that. Large fonts is just not good enough.

So download CheckeMON http://www.ykwong.com/checkemon.html

and try the "Moire Interference" and tell me if you don't see subtle splotches in certain parts of the screen?

The bottom of this monitor definitely has a subtle spotlight effect. You can clearly see it on the "power supply" test.

This may be what y'all call "backlight bleed". I may wait for 2013 revisions and try an exchange.

My eyes are killing me after a night of working on this monitor.

If this keeps up, it's going to have to go back.

It did for me as well the first day or two. But I think I've adjusted. I've also dropped the brightness to 55%. I'm not going lower than that because then the whites start to go gray.

I also tried overclocking to 72hz as someone else said they did successfully, and it's a no-go. I made the custom resolution through NVCP and applied it (monitor OSD showed 72hz) but I was definitely getting dropped frames. It was noticeable in the very fast paced game of Tribes.

Really it is no better in Win7, where they do a dumb zoom on most applications making them blurry.

My eyes kill me on every monitor, make that display, I've tried except this one and a couple of other PWM-free displays.

They haven't started implementing PWM, have they?

No it doesn't do the strobe when you wave your hand thing. No PWM

I think I was getting motion sickness from the sheer size of a 27" when I first got it.

This. Depending on how far you sit from it, your eyes/head naturally move around a lot more. Give it a couple days.

I went from a 2560x1440 screen (which I still have) to a 30" and had the same sensation - its that much bigger than 27" screens. I cannot wait for the u3014, should complement my u3011, u2713 and sammy pls panel well :)

Have any of you used the U2713HM connected to a PS3? Do you notice it changing calibration profiles back and forth? I got one of the newer U2713H's and it looks great in Windows, but when I tested it out on my PS3 over HDMI it kept flipping back and forth between a brighter warmish tent profile to a cold dimmer profile.

Ordered a refurb on 12-14 was delayed two times since then. Called up to ask if they would price match to get the new one and sure as shit they did. Even included next day shipping. Cant wait!!!
