also, it is a butcher block. if you want to get long life from it, i recommend either clear coating it (meh) or tung oil and sealing it with wax.
When I first got it, dropped a little coffee and it soaked right in. Then I read online about how to protect it. Bought the tung oil online and did a couple of applications and then coated it with some mothers carnuba wax
Now I can literally pour water and liquid onto it and it just beads up and can be wiped away.
Just wanted to let everyone know as if you leave the top unprotected, you are essentially working on an open block of wood which would absorb anything you spill and not last that long.

I am super OCD took me forever to find the right one. Make sure you get the long one if you have a big workstation. The shorter one is usually deeper. Mine is 97"x25"

EXACTLY what I was looking for. :D
It's about 3-5 inches shallower then my current desk

Yes! very good point you have there.
BTW do you know what tung oil brand you used or will any do?

I love how you have the [H] maximized across the three screens.:D That's sure to piss somebody off here.:D

All you guys with the PLP are killing me ;) I have the Dell U3011 now, and adding two more Dell 2007FP's looks so tempting, and not that expensive anyways, those monitors can be found cheap on eBay ?

That's where I bought both of mine. Got lucky with 2 out of 3

My only hold back, is there is no driver support for gaming in PLP. Yeah I have heard about Soft Th, but that's just a beta for DirectX9 games, I don't think a newer game like Battlefield 3 will work in PLP ? And SLI or Crossfire doesn't work in PLP either right ?

SLI works with PLP, you can have all three screens running with SLI directed towards one monitor. But you can not run eyefinity or nvidia surround

Thanks for the info. But I thought gaming in PLP was done in Window mode ? Which doesn't do SLI or Crossfire ?

But that's interesting that you can still run SLI on PLP, and have it dedicated to the main center 30" display. But I have no need for that, my single GTX-680 plays all my games smooth butter on my 30". Now if SLI helped drive all 3 monitors in game mode, for sure I'd get a second card. But for now one 680 is going just great for me.

But whole point for me going PLP would be triple screen gaming, as i hate 3 X Landscape which i had before, and sold it, because too wide streteched out. But the more I read PLP is not good for gaming, no driver support, and doubtful there ever will be.

I have done both - windowed and not. It works either way. Right now gaming with a GTX 680 and have all three monitors hooked up to the one card; it works very well.

And the best part of PLP is playing a game on the main monitor and having a window open, temps, evga precision etc. on the side monitors.

For general use its heaven as well. You need to try it with one side monitor before you drop the money for two.

I am also pretty OCD and like symmetry and this works best for me with the main big screen in the middle.

Thanks :). So tempted.

I wish I wake up Christmas morning, and Santa will have a driver download ready, enabling PLP support in games, for all the good little kids this year

PLP & gaming

Just really sucks that both AMD and nVidia will never create drivers to support PLP gaming. I know the % of PLP gamers is very very low, but still. If the Eyefinity or NV-Surround driver team can work on triple screen gaming drivers, can't they ask to put a couple hours in and try to support PLP gaming with a beta driver or something ? LOL, then I woke up :p

And Soft TH is a Dx9 only support right ? The guy, might hand over code to have others look into making it work with Dx11 ?

So how do you play newer game engines like Battlefield 3 with a PLP setup, without stretching the image, but actually gaming at 4960 x 1600 ? Is that even possible ? And how so ?

Thank you

I was fixated on PLP for nearly a year and when I finally got it the experience was awesome but I sold it in the end for 120hz because gaming on 60hz is way too slow for me and I got the Asus 144hz and you'd have to kill me for it.

My humble little setup, nothing as cool as most of you on here, and sorry for the crappy phone pics. Screen is the Dell U3011. Might add the two 20" Dell 2007FP's soon, still debating about that, but I am very happy with the single 30", over my previous 3 x 24 Eyefinity.

My old setup, triple Dell @ 5760 x 1200. It was nice, but the cool factor wore off. Not all games supported triple screen as well as I would have liked, and to run newer games maxed Ultra settings at that res, needs a super beast machine. And it was just too wide, always turning my head left and right to see the whole thing. And my #1 beef with Eyefinity was the stretched out zoomed in look on the side monitors, that was a deal breaker for me, couldn't stand it in games like WoW. So I am happy to have just one large screen again. My dream display will be a 4K monitor, at like 42" or so :) Those are years away from coming out affordable.

My desk setup :) Pretty terrible compared to some of the setups in this thread. That's an Auria 27" 2560x1440 IPS panel next to an eight-year-old Dell 15" LCD. The only reason the Dell is hooked up is to be able to access the BIOS, since the Auria won't display an image till the desktop.

Nothing wrong with using the hardware you've got. I still use my oldest LCD (I'm a little afraid to do the math on it, since it might be 10+ years...) as a "TV" in the garage.
How do you like the Auria aside from the bios thing?

I think I found that awesome IKEA butcher block table top. It's actually a countertop... and at $195, it ain't cheap.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40057853/

I'm going to check it out at the local IKEA store, this week.

This is my Ikea Butcher block(73x39, solid oak, 1 and 1/2 thick) desk I made, I used 3 Ikea u shaped nickel plated legs. The PC case is still a work in progress and does not have the front on it currently. I am in the process of getting a real Lamborghini matte black emblem to go on the front.

The pc case is painted Lamborghini Grigio Telesto by a Porsche concourse paint shop, no orange peel on it, looks amazing. The case was originally a Falcon Northwest Mach V. Everything in the interior of the pc was redone, powder coated solar matte black. Mobo and cpu liquid cooled.

The monitor is a Samsung UA32d5000 debezzled and the bezel powder coated solar matte black like the interior of the case. Size if perfect for pc gaming and web surfing, it does 4:4:4 chroma and has 16ms of input lag ( less then one frame). Distance from where I sit is a little bit over 3 feet, so its ideal.

Chair is a Hermann Miller Aeron.

Dude, what's with the cat? And the water/food dish? lol

Also, what monitors are those? Liking the setup

My cat loves the computer desk. It is his 'high ground' when attacking my two dogs (bulldog puppy and a shih tzu). He lures them back to the corner, jumps up on the desk, then DEATH FROM ABOVE!!! He's eating treats in the picture, and he sleeps up there when I work late nights.

The food and water is the cat's. I keep it up there so the dogs don't eat it.
