There wouldn't be a problem with carrying your RFID ID with you at all times if you just held these little criminals down and implanted it under their skin. Duh, problem solved. :rolleyes:

While forcing kids to carry around ID cards is not a huge deal, I fail to see why students who do attend school be forced to do this for the ones that don't show up. I also fail to see how this will help truancy. Kids skip school because their parents dont beat their ass when they do it. Schools dont give a shit, they just want the funding dollars.

Children in public schools have even less rights.

At my school, we had specific ways we were allowed to even get our hair cut, it could not be dyed, and we had to wear uniforms.

Somehow I survived, and on my free-time out of school I can wear fishnet stalkings, spike my hair with blue wax, and dry hump vending machines to my hearts desire... just not in class.

Hah. Exactly what I would do if I were any of these kids in that school.

Ain't no reason whatsoever to demand that the students wear RFID tags.

Now maybe the principle and the staff should for even suggesting it. And give a tracker to every single student so they can see where the staff is at any given time of day or night. Doesn't matter if they are on vacation either.

Now let's see how they go for that.

To force kids to wear tags, as if they were animals in the wild being tracked, is dehumanizing and degrading but it is par for the course; state run "schools" exist to indoctrinate children into being obedient little servants who never question authority.
 
I have no problem with this at all. We expect our schools to keep our kids in school and safe during the day. Knowing when a student is not there is important. Getting the school funded for kids actually being there is important. There is no "invasion of privacy" here and just a red herring for someone not wanting to be held accountable for being on campus, when they should be on campus.

Uhhhhh, state schools are voluntary... herpderp. You can also be home schooled or go to private school like I did. And at my private school, wearing an RFID tag would have been a non-issue as obedience and tracking are just a given.

Yes, they do. It's just that they are so busy teaching to the lowest common denominator that it makes Texas schools bad (among a few other things as well). There are so many Mexican kids here that schools spend time teaching those kids to pass TAKKS/TEAMS (insert standardized test of the year here) that they don't actually teach kids critical thinking, how to think on their own and actually learn.

And "beating their asses" won't make a lot of those kids show up, at least here in Texas. Again, alluding back to the apparent immigration problem here in America, those same Mexican parents are so busy working multiple jobs to keep afloat they don't have time to dedicate to keeping up with their children all the time. I don't think it's because they don't care, they just simply do not have the time, nor understanding sometimes, to do so.

I really don't see the problem here, granted maybe because I'm male, and was kind of apathetic about this shit in high school my response would be "Oh no!! I won't be able to vote for homecoming king and queen!? THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!"

Both of those options are still subject to state control as the state regulates what you must teach. In Texas, the law states that you must teach "good citizenship", which is the indoctrination that I was talking about earlier.

Schools already have ways of keeping students on campus. In high school it's called an SRO (school/safety resource officer), security guards, etc. In elementary schools its called a closed campus and fences.

Worked for me. Despite my parents working a lot of hours. If you as a parent, don't have time to make sure your kids are going to school, dont fucking have kids.

I don't think it's because they don't care, they just simply do not have the time, nor understanding sometimes, to do so.

“Using this information along with an RFID reader means a predator could use this information to determine if the student is at home and then track them wherever they go. These chips are always broadcasting so anyone with a reader can track them anywhere,” she said.

I am more concerned with the security measures that are being used to protect the students information. Like the lady did, $30 for a FOIA and she got the list of students. That is not proper thinking on the schools part and they need to be shot for it. I could care less if the kids are forced to carry ID's with RFID's as long as the students information is properly secured against unreasonable intrusion.
 
Damn there are a bunch of whiny "I don't want you to know where my kids are" people here..

Personally, I don't have an issue with this. When my kids are home, they are my responsibility. As soon as I put them on the bus for school in the morning, all I can do is hope that the school keeps track of them until they get home in the afternoon.

If the kids are already supposed to carry a school ID, what is the harm of having one that has RFID tags in it? Honestly, the only ones that should have an issue with it are... the ones skipping school or trying to break the rules :rolleyes: The article said that they can wear it... or keep it in a pocket, so it's not like they are getting branded or having it implanted under their skin. Afraid the school is going to say your son is spending too much time wacking it in the bathroom? Afraid your going to find out your daughter is blowing the football team under the bleachers?

Instead of all the "my child needs his/her privacy" how about give an example where the school knowing where your child is turns out to be a bad thing...
 
I actually don't have a problem with the tracking, As stated before I don't see how it will help. Also unless they have HUGE antennas and readers everywhere this isn't going to track them every minute.

When I was in HS I had to have an ID around my neck at all times unless I was doing a physical activity that prohibited me from doing so. This is no different, being "tracked" while on school grounds something that is done anyway.

If this were my kids and my area school, I'd have one hell of a parents meeting to get those buttheads out of their jobs.

We are one step closer every year to "The Demolition Man" way of life. Hell, we already have the replacement for the evil Dr. Raymond Cocteau in office (NY's Bloomberg - You have been fined 1/2 credit for violation of the oversize soda health statute).
 
Simple solution to "men with guns" STFU and move to a different state/country if you don't like the rules. Illegal immigrants do it all the time!

RFID tags are cheap and it saves a lot of time as you don't have to take attendance.

Unlike attendance, the scanners can also tell if you have kids that show up in the morning and bail at lunch time, or even just try to bail for a few hours.

Yes, you can do the same with enough man-power, but you have technology available to save money and maximize the utility of the resources you have.

If the kids were required to wear them or were somehow tracked OUTSIDE of school, there would be a case, but in school... pfft! Nonsense!

And this is coming from a Libertarian.

I have an ex that grew up in Austin, she would be 25 now. She learned about evolution when she read evolution of the species while she was in high school on her own. They were teaching about how god made the earth a couple thousand years ago. She privately asked her teacher about evolution and was told that she could not discuss that on school grounds. The teacher agreed to meet her at a coffee shop after school where they talked about it and she recommended some books for my ex to read to actually learn things.

Fuck Texas schools.

Because remember, every time you don't brainwash a young person into being christian and educationally behind the other first world countries, god rips the wings off an angel.
