With that processor, you will be close, if not bottlenecking on the 7950. Overclocking might help some. To be honest, you would be better to upgrade your mobo/CPU first, then consider your GPU needs. Otherwise, I would just stick with what you have.
The OC'd editions of the 7950 are at 319 and 309 right now from what I see.
I was under the impression a 1090T @ stock isn't a bottleneck for eyefinity gaming, no?
$299.99 after MIR on this XFX 900mhz model:

Has anyone seen ads that bundle sleeping dogs yet?

i came from 2 6970's to a single 680 gtx
nvidia drivers alot better than AMD at the moment.
I like how people always just say "Nvidia drivers better than AMD" but they never give any examples (much less that they have personally experienced).
Anyways the prices have ticked back up a tad on newegg. Now seems 249 for most 7870's and 209 for 7850's prior to any rebates. Still pretty good but for a while they were lower.
I switched from a good-working eVGA GTS 250 to an 6950, as the price was right, and it meant a HUGE upgrade. I would love to upgrade more, but cannot justify the price difference vs. improvement over my current solution.
Thankfully, this is an awesome time for others with aging GPU's to upgrade, as prices and performance are great for the $$$. And, with these price cuts, I would be willing to wager that nVidia will follow suit within the next 6 months.
Tempting...
What's the current situation with running HDMI to DVI or Mini-DisplayPort to DVI adapters? Do they need to be active adapters to run 3x dvi screens? I'm a 20/30/20 PLP user.
Hey all,
So, would a move from a 6870 to a 7950 be a good enough leap to justify the new card expense?
TIA!

you need something running either off DP or on an active adapter, to do more than 2 screens
zotac has a box that does dp/mdp > dual HDMI that supports 2 screens at 1080p and maybe 19x12
All three are DVI. I think im just going to continue running a 20" off of the onboard dvi. Now just need the sapphire 950mhz or vapor-x to come back in stock at Newegg!
F@H.....
I wouldn't f@h on any gpu, that project goes much better on CPU.

active dp adapters are under 30 bucks on amazon, the accell and bizlinks are all certified
And they are flaky while not working for dual link anyway.
