Steam's Midweek Madness sale this week is 50% off Alan Wake. It is currently $14.99. The collectors edition which includes 2 DLCs is $17.49.

Not a bad game and the PC version is definitely not a shoddy console port.

Er, the 2 DLCs come with the game regardless. The only thing the collector's edition gets you is a PDF book, soundtrack, and developer commentary videos. So if you only care about game content, then you're fine going with the standard edition.

Also, if anyone was planning on getting AW:AN:
Pre-Purchase Alan Wake's American Nightmare
...save an additional 15% if you own the original Alan Wake on Steam.

the GOG version has everything in the Collectors Edition except for the soundtrack.

You will also save 25% on American Nightmare, via GOG - both DRM free

Hmmm ... Looks like a cool game.

Which is the better deal ? Is the one on COG the collectors ed ? I also see dlc on steam for $4.99

So confused ... lol
Could someone give me the rundown before it ends ?
Thank you

how does GoG work?...is it the same as Steam and Origin, meaning a game client that needs to be installed or is it just a download of the game files alone?...I don't like having multiple game clients installed other then Steam (I already removed Origin after beating Mass Effect 3)

does the GoG version include the soundtrack?...I don't see it listed

With GOG you simply log into your account through your browser and download the game installer or other files. You can download a game as many times as you want and once downloaded you can store it as a backup or do whatever you want with it, honestly I prefer it to Amazon's download service(which I like) because it doesn't use a download widget that can occasionally corrupt downloads.

DRM free copy of the game. No unneeded game clients like.. Steam in this case. Unlimited download. All you need is a web browser.

so the game files get installed in the exact same location as it would with the retail boxed version of the game?...no download manager or other bloatware installed?

The install file you get works the same as an install disk in my experience and there's nothing else you have to install.

All you download is the .exe file.. which is a setup. You can install it where ever you want.

If I were to buy it on GoG.com will I be able to add it to Steam at a later date if I decide to?

$14.99 is a great deal...I was hesitant to buy it at $30 even though I hear it's a PC port done right as I'm not sure it was worth $30...but $15 is fantastic plus the American Nightmare DLC for $11.79

It kinda creeps me out when people start asking for their games to include DRM.... even if it is steam.....

The game even at 30.00 was great. Its a port but its done right. No bs. At 15.00 its a great deal i paid 19.00 its a must buy

I picked this game up on steam, A lot better than I expected! I'll actually be playing this one all the way through :p

Is the $14.99 deal on COG the same as the $17.99 deal on steam ?
Anyone know what the DLC on steam is for $4.99 ?

Sorry ... just not familiar with this game. Trying to decide the better deal. I like it being DRM free, but want the better deal !

Thanks Guys
tom

Maaaan ... I would have thought this game was good enough to have 50 reply's by know giving me more info than i know what to do with ! Ha

Just more proof that I should just wait a LITTLE longer and pay less for games. I paid full price for this one but it was entirely worth it though. This was like 4 weeks ago...

The game play was good. Reminded me a lot of Max Payne with a horror twist. There were parts where I literally got the chills. Looking forward to the DRM.

In for a copy, won't have time to play until summer but I'll gladly support them for doing a good PC release instead of a crappy port.
