First Crysis 3 Screenshots Revealed

20 mins past the first ever Crysis 3 screenshot thread and no responses. It appears no one cares lol!

Yeah, not too impressed with that crossbow. If this was some RPG, I could see getting excited. But that arrow looks like it would just bounce of that big metal guy in the screenshot.

Could be interesting. I'll buy it if they abandon the absurdly annoying checkpoint system.

50 million dollar suit, $400 bow, 100% douche.

So I can throw a tank or I can use a compound bow...

The premise behind the game sounds incredibly ridiculous and dumb. But in true Crytek tradition, it is purdy.

If it looks good and plays well, that's all that matters to me. (For this type of game.)

Looks good.

I'd say these are DEFINITELY PC screens...look at the 3D limbs on the trees and vines hanging all over the place.

That's called tessellation.

So PC goodness for sure...that is unless this is a next-gen console showing...

A crossbow upper on a AR-15 lower? Interesting.

I can't recall where I saw these, but I remember seeing the upper for sale somewhere.

Didn't Crytek do the old Dino Island demo way back in the day? I loved Far Cry. Crysis was pretty, but I never got too far into it. I love all the videos/screenshots of these, but when the game comes out, I'm slightly disappointed. After the mods and tweaks and stuff, I'm usually happy again, but the screen shots always look better than what I see on my PC (even with settings at max)...

But we have come to KNOW what Crytek puts out with screenshots and what Crytek puts in the game are two different things.

Why use crossbow when you have guns and explosive?
Tarzan in the city ? That would make much more sense when moving from gauss rifle to a semi-ancient weapon.

Is it even possible for these guys to make a game that's NOT in a jungle? 2 aside.

It's like they're obsessive compulsive about jungles and after 2 they looked like Sheldon Cooper trying to sit somewhere other than his spot. Oh god I can't deal with this! Who cares if it's the mdidle of the city, ADD JUNGLE!

Have their plots diverged from the same basic outline they've used for every game since Far Cry 1, yet?

Well, you can't really ask if they can make a game that's in a jungle setting and then exclude a game they made that isn't.

Given that, assuming your question isn't rhetorical, the answer is "yes". In addition to the non-jungly Crysis 2, they also made Fibble, which takes place in a kitchen...and shit.

Semi rhetorical. It's hard to deny that their FPS's are remarkably similar. Plot, gameplay, settings, style. Everything is the same. One could argue that just about every game they've made so far is a reimagining of the same game

The same can be said for any major franchise with multiple sequels.

To some degree. I think Crytek is banking on their target market not being entirely bored of the jungle setting, though. I'm pretty sure I'd roll the same dice if I were them: I don't think the jungle theme is played out yet.

Tessellation, probably. Apparently the Crysis 2 tessellation was a hideously early implementation of it in the engine and was not very feature complete, it's considerably more fleshed out now in the newer SDK so makes sense. PC is very likely. They probably just captured an insanely high resolution image and scaled it down. There's a console command that can output a picture at any resolution.

Hopefully they decide not to be fucking retarded with the settings, etc this time around.

Crysis is ass, pure and simple. The first was a classic based on engine and graphice alone, but the series has really petered out. I can't help but think of Halo when I see this series now.

Looks pretty good to me. Ive liked all the Crysis games so far so Im sure Ill be in line for a copy of 3 when it comes around. Hate to give EA anymore of my cash but Im sure itll be an Origin exclusive again. Obviously because Steam is still trying to play hardball and not let EA patch their games.

Valve isn't stopping EA from patching their games. You can patch your game hundreds of times per day if you really wanted to (not that EA would).

You just called it ass... Now its a classic? So confused lol.

Crysis 1 blew. 2 is MUCH better.

Yeah, I know. Valve not letting EA patch their games directly was EA's lame ass excuse as to why they pulled Crysis 2 from Steam and made it Origin only. I called bullshit on it as soon as they floated it as did a lot of others.

They did? I thought the contention was the selling of DLC, not anything to do with patches.

It was about DLC. EA wanted to sell directly to end users and bypass the whole process with Steam. Probably wanted to cut Valve out and keep all the money themselves.

Crysis the series blows ass after Crysis. 2 sucked hardcore, 3 will suck worse. It's exactly like Halo. That game was amazing on it's first iteration, then it became very lame.

I'm assuming this installment will also be a huge letdown and steaming pile of shit? Only thing I'm interested in is to hear the monumental lies that douchebag Cevat Yerli will spew out leading up to release.

Just getting ready to post something to this effect. Those are renders, not screenshots. And I would bet they are software renders.

Crysis 2 pretty much looked exactly like it's hype screenshots save for the obviously bullshit nanosuit that they put in for some dumb reason.

Like I said earlier, this is probably why the pictures look the way they do. They just take pictures at an enormous resolution so they effectively end up with a nice, super sampled image.
