[Kepler/GTX 680] Info's in... $400-450? + benches + thermals (56k warning)

So does everyone think the GTX 680 will go live tomorrow? Does anyone know if the GTX 680 can bitstream DTS-HD and DOLBY TrueHD? I am tempted to get it, maybe I can use my 460 as the sound card and physX?

BTW, anyone know if I can mix card manufacturer's in a quadfire setup without any issues (e.g. two PNY 680s and two EVGA 680s)?

The nice thing is that whatever cards I decide not to quadfire will go in my HT setup for single screen gaming... I don't have to worry about getting rid of them on Ebay.

Why the hell is PNY $35 more lol ... they are like always the vanilla of all cards! >_<

You can, but whats the point if you can get it all from the same manufacture?

So score another one for Semiaccurate - they said the other day that the MSRP was changed to $499, and it looks like that is the case.

Anyone try to buy one while they were listed?

Yeah. I managed to order two. They were limiting the orders to two per customer...

I'm wondering if Amazon will put them live again at midnight or something. Anyone know how they usually do this?

Yes it looks like it will support up to 4 monitors @1080p 60Hz. The HDMI connector probably can't go beyond that.

GTX 680 is shaping up to be quite a game changer. It's been a while since Nvidia really showed AMD how it's done. My expectation though is that it'll simply end up at 550$ and AMD drops their prices 50$ and there will be no price war beyond that. Both companies will happily enjoy their margins. :(

This is great news. Trying to get some confirmation from someone that has one. I would love to be able to grab one of these and bring up linux with 3 screens.

It will crush your 470, that is certain. Supporting 3 outputs is uncertain at this time.

I don't know about that. 2x470 = 20-30% greater than a single 580 depending on the application. That being said, 3 screens at 1920x1200 is a lot of pixels for just 2gb of ram on the single card.

I think I am going to wait a few weeks and see what's left over after the speculation has boiled out of the pot and we have real results.

Thought it went live on newegg. Lol. Was in a hurry to buy two in case it sells out.

i really hope H drops a review tonight, if 680 ends up losing at 5760p and gets a negative review, are you people still getting one?

i cant make up my mind yet, and i really dont think AMD is going to drop the price.

Well right now I have 1 GTX 570 and it covers my needs perfectly. I can play pretty much every game at ultra settings at above 45 FPS except BF3, so right now it just doesn't make sense to get a GTX 680. I'm going to wait for the 700 series before upgrading, I might grab a 2nd 570 though if it hits real cheap I'm talking $200 (probably won't) and if I do that then I'll be good for awhile. So as tempting as my upgraditus is, I'm going to sit this one out.

Im still gonna get it even though i play at 1200 res. im going sli and i onow nvidia will have better drivers.

It did. Possibly by mistake I think. I hope they will honor my order since it went through and my PayPal account was charged already!

I talked to someone at another site that is launching their sales tomorrow and they said that no one has them yet though and they won't be shipped for another week. So I'm not sure what is going on now. I hope Newegg actually has them in stock....

I have 500 to spend right now... but I fucking hope EVGA will have these in stock by the beginning of May/end of April.

If it loses at 5760 I'll end up using the 7970s in my 7680x1600 setup.

I'd be worried they'd cancel the order since it was placed before the cards were technically for sale. Hopefully if they do they'll let you know so you can re-order when they really do go on sale. If I was you I'd try to contact them and see what's what.

It is a catch 22 my friend. If I do that then they might be forced to cancel it instead of claiming ignorance...

The Newegg site says it is in the "packaging" phase... LOL!

This is going to be a long night. I'm going to stay up to see if I can order more at 12:00AM or later...

I love how everybody kisses semiaccurates butt now ever since he started saying good stuff about Nvidia.

Guy was all over the place even on 680. For one he said it was going to only be faster in physx games or something? But now people only seem to credit him the minor things he gets right and ignore the massive amounts he gets wrong.

But ever since he wrote that article how Kepler is going to kill AMD, all the sudden people treat him like he's the computer worlds most reliable source or some garbage.

Sounds like you have some hate in your heart. He was right about the price, it appears, so how is that kissing butt?

Cus the guy said "score another one for semiaccurate" or something. Which is what everybody is writing on forums now.

Where I remember not long ago he was considered a joke.

All because he started praising Nvidia, sorry but thats what it appears to me. And he's not any more reliable now than then.

How was he even right on the price? I'm sure that leaked before he published it, since I've seen leaked newegg listings all day.

Oh look, here he was wrong! http://semiaccurate.com/2012/03/05/nvidia-will-launch-gk104keplergtx680-in-a-week/ Lets all point this out, "score another one semi accurate was wrong about". And that was just what I found in 30 seconds (and btw, I do not see any article about 499 Kepler, so I guess you guys must be talking about his forum posts now trying to make him look not wrong, talk about scraping the bottom of barrel.

LOL oh look, he was way wrong again here (said 299 for Kepler price). http://semiaccurate.com/2012/01/23/exclusive-and-the-nvidia-keplergk104-price-is/ "score another one for semiaccurate being wrong" lol.

Semiaccurate wasn't reliable on Kepler news unlike OBR.

Now if only OBR stopped harping on his obvious hatred for anything AMD/ATI related, and fixed his inability to post in juvenile broken English...

A review is out at tweaktown. Looking good, even at 1600p.

something odd about their heaven and dirt3 results

in heaven @1680x1050, the 6990 scores 2358, seems low figuring my rig (sig) scores 2173 same settings.

Dirt3, 1680x1050 the 6990 scores 124fps at "very high" settings (do they mean Ultra High?), my rig at 1680x1050 on ultra high scores 122.5 fps

their scores seem really low

edit; just an fyi, my catalyst 12.2 3DA settings are all maxed out to "Quality", aniso and aa settings are application controlled, aa quality is SSAA

nice chart thanks, just what I wanted to see before bed. now I am just curious how they overclock.

It looks to me like AMD should have released the 7970 at 1ghz like they did with the 7870 and 7770.
