Ikea desk gallery

When you attach these to the desk is there pre-drilled holes or do you screw them to anywhere on the desk?

I had to drill 4 pilot holes to get the screws in for my Jerker.

I wanna know where he attached the cat!

The cat is firmly attached to the top surface of the desk at all times.

Just got Ikea Jerker from CL the 50" version(black/brown one) with two shelf and one side arm, was 20 miles drive one way but worth the trouble.

it's used and at best condition is about 8 (has little chip off on wood on right hand corner and metal is little weary with paint off)

haven't set up the whole thing yet with cable management and stuff will upload again after that

I'm jealous of that wall... But that table just does not suit your room. :/

So, I found a Jerker today and paid $75. It has the silver frame with the black wood. Also came with two of the swing out shelves. I will post pictures when I set it up. The person I bought this from lives down the street about 300 yards. What a find!

it's ranted place and just moved in, i'm working on getting it set up to different place (one with regular wall) and planning on putting my bed there.

WOW! What a nice find!
I picked mine up from about 45 miles away and 3 flights of stairs.
I got it for $40 from a student at Palmer Chiropractic that just graduated.
Best scroe I ever got!

Could anybody tell me what the maximum weight limit of a galant is? Wanna get one but need to verify it will hold my computer tower

Nice Paradigms! Those are some of the earlier Mini Monitors correct?

I just bought(STOLE!) myself a Paradigm DSP-3100 tonight for $150 and now I'm looking for some speakers to pair with them.

I have my eye on some stuff locally like the KEF K120, Mission 760 and a few various Paradigms like the Mini Monitor and Titan.
May I ask what you are running for the rest of your setup?

Yes those are the V3 mini monitor, I also have 4 JBL NW24IIs running in this setup- 2 not pictured connected to a TX-SR804. The headphones are Senn RS120s and HD280s, thats about it. Just some older stuff once used in the family room. From here on out Paradigm and Def Tech are about the only thing I bother look at, Im a big fan of both companies.

Next up is a wallmount for monitors so i can add some athena bookshelve speakers and reciever sitting under the monitors

Hey guys,
I plan on upgrading to a Galant desk.

I love the setup that Elite Sniper has
2lvgvfr.jpg

If I was to buy the "L" shape with T-legs used from someone, should that desk have all of the pieces installed on it or are there extra pieces you have to store to be able to attach the extensions at a later date?

Thanks,

The "extra" pieces all come with the extension (i.e., if you get an assembled L table, you're getting everything there was minus, perhaps, a couple of allen wrenches)

Thanks,

You already have the frame, you just need the T Legs, The legs can be bought separately. The frame is the most important part because Ikea makes different frame lengths for different sized tabletops. When you buy a different Galant tabletop the matching frame comes with it. You can buy the T legs separately here. To answer your question, you will need 3 legs if you're staying with the L shape. If can find someone selling a L shaped galant for less then $90 I would say go for it. Otherwise you're better off just getting them new.

EDIT: I didn't realize that was EliteSniper's desk, to answer your questions

"If I was to buy the "L" shape with T-legs used from someone, should that desk have all of the pieces installed" - Correct
"are there extra pieces you have to store to be able to attach the extensions at a later date?" - None, the extension seen in that pic is just a mini frame with the the curved tabletop that just basically attaches to the ends of the main Galant frame.

Thanks for the input guys! As it turns out, I was able to get a used desk yesterday afternoon. It turned out it was an office closing so when I thought all I was able to get was the corner piece, I was actually able to get:
  • Corner desk-left
  • 3x T-Legs
  • 2x Extension Tops
  • Extension Half-Round
for the Galant in Birch-veener all for $150 CAD in very good condition. (stupid expensive Canada :p)

I am super excited as this will great in my new house. It's going to be fun designing it from the ground up. I'll be using a lot of people's idea here. I'll post the result in April when its set up and I'll be sure to give you guys credit!

CHEAP GALANT ALERT!

IKEA in West Covina California has this Birch Galant Display unit for sale in the 'As-Is' section of the store! Cant beat the price! This includes the half round end piece, and A-Legs. Someone pick this up!! Only has a couple minor scuffs, nothing bad!

Damn nice find, I never see shit like that at the Burbank ikea. It's always barely functional ( missing drawer, chair missing 1 leg out of the 4, ripped cushions on the couches)

it looks small to me. of course i do have like 3 1/2 galants hooked together lol :)

WTF ? LMAO

I can see why you need the neck rest matrix. Doesnt those portrait monitors just hurt your neck? They are raised on a stand too o_O

Why do you have the days of the week kanji in a poster? And only some of them to begin with?

Those look like the various elements, like earth, water, fire.

In hanzi, it would be read:

shui - water
mu - tree
huo - fire
tu - earth
quan - complete

Good lord that is a huuuuuge desk, matrix. I'm pretty jealous, wish i had that much room. I just finished putting together my little ikea hyttan, I miss my 2004 jerker so much :(

its really funny too. there is literally a quarter inch of clearance on either end of the desk where the wall is. its like the room was just meant to fit the desk :D. no the portrait doesn't bother me much its raised up because i had to figure out how to place my center speaker in front of me with the monitors too :).

Home office is coming together nicely. Got my longer PC cables to move my PC farther down the Galant, and made a trip to IKEA for two LACK shelves that I hung staggared. Im not fond of the color of these walls so I am more than likely painting the office tomorrow.

I LOVE the amount of room the Galant with extensions has! Room for my 24", 13" Macbook Pro, 15" Macbook Pro, iPad, 15" HP ProBook, Joystick, AND Police Scanner... and still have plenty of room left over!

Hey, what are you using to roll around that cabinet on the left of your chair? Is that an IKEA part?? I have an EFFEKTIV Cabinet from IKEA that is nearly identical to that and I dont want to mount it on the wall, and thats a great idea!

Info please!

just slap some casters on that bad boy, best part about ikea stuff is modifying it lol

Do you guys prefer T-legs to A-legs? Quick summary of pros and cons of each?

I really wish I had the T legs on my galant, the A-legs were a pain to adjust. I guess I don't have much room to complain though, I got mine for $40 from a friend, with both of the round end pieces.

That IS an IKEA EFFEKTIV part .. except that they've discontinued that base.

Can you explain how you mounted the tv above your monitor? I'm looking for this exact setup but with a 22" tv without having to mount it to a wall.

Thanks.
