Unsure if this is a super hot deal, but for $9.99 this game is pretty good.

Crysis 2

Its definitely worth $10. I was one of those bitching and griping about this game when it first came out but when I actually bought it and played it, its a pretty damn good game. It does get repetitive towards the end but the graphics and atmosphere are great, the combat and gameplay are as good as any and the story line is good enough to keep you interested. Id say its worth $20 if youre a FPS fan, so $10 is a no brainer IMO.

Well, the Amazon reviews aren't too good.

That's just crybabies whining and trying to protest the EA copy protection when the physical copy first became available, not the merits of Crytek's game. And if you don't understand the signifiance of the FarCry 1 + Crysis + Crysis 2 series and what the developer Crytek has contributed to PC gaming as a whole, this game isn't for you.

Very Good Campaign mode, horrid multi-player, superb graphics (install the High Res and DX11 packs).

For $10 one would think it'd be a no-brainer to buy it.

for 10 bucks its okay at best. the single player campaign is a straight up linear experience and has none of the feeling of the first game or Warhead. and for a Crytek game much of the graphics are a joke even on DX11 Ultra with high res texture pack.

no. You have to use Horrigin. I don't mean those cool hunters from Voyager.

Since when did the game require origin? Don't think it does. The key however registers on Origin. Origin is a good app not sure why you call it horrible.

I bought my copy off Origin but once its installed, you dont have to open Origin to get to it. I use the shortcut on my desktop and it fires right up. With buying and downloading it off Amazon, you might have to activate it thru Origin possibly but I can all but guarantee that you wont need to touch it again once its installed and activated.

Why even bother with Origin if you don't like it? Download the game from Amazon. It works just fine.

From what I played of the game I found the SP experience better than Crysis or Warhead. Crysis was a horribly disappointing SP experience with Crytek ripping away any and all freedom in the second half one an absolutely shit final boss. I could never force myself to finish Warhead. Crysis was every bit as linear as 2 is, 2 just doesn't pretend that there is a world worth exploring beyond the beaten path. The graphics in 2 are very good.

This was the most pirated PC game of the year. I paid almost full price for it and loved the single player, worked great in 3D.

Only stupid morons would call it a bad game. Seriously.
For $10 it should be a no brainer.

The only games that requires Origin is BF3 and I think SWTOR.
Crysis 2 can be played without Origin. You download it and delete Origin right after.

Still Counts! Actually Origin really isn't that bad, they just fucked up Battlelog which requires Origin but is a completely separate, broken, tarded up mess. Wanna play Battlefield 3? click origin! Launch battlog! Wanna talk to your Origin friends in game? Shift+F1! wanna talk to your friends on battlelog in game? Get fucked! Rinse repeat everytime it crashes! That said I have very few complaints about any of my other games on Origin.

On topic. $10 is a pretty good deal, not in any hurry though.

how will this game play on my i2500K ~4.5ghz and GTX 470? I tried the original crysis back when I had...i think a ATI 4850 and performance sucked so bad i stopped playing it and i'm the type of FPS gamer that needs pretty high or ultra settings or I give up.

Crysis 2 had a decent sp campaign, but I wouldn't call it awesome. It's very Call-of-Duty-ish IMO, compared to the original Crysis which didn't play like a CoD game.
I think I paid $19: I played the campaign once complete, and I may have played 1 mp round. $10 would be worth it.

And btw: I hated the guy Gould in Crysis 2; everything he said anything at all, it drove me nuts, terrible voice acting and just plain lousy. He drove me crazy and ruined much of the game for me.

Disagree with your statement. Campaign is not COD-ish at all. It does not have respawning enemies, does have multiple paths to achieve objectives and many more tactical play options unlike COD which is heavily scripted and has only a single path forward. Only thing this game borrows from COD is that it is scripted and has a single objective at a given time (no side missions or open world/Island to explore). However, it does have multiple paths to same objective and varying options.

the first 2/3 of Crysis can be approached in any way you see fit and has pretty wide open areas. you can literally play that game anyway you want. Warhead was a little different but still offered way more freedom and more wide open areas than Crysis 2. Crysis 2 feels like any other cheaply done generic linear shooter. most areas are small and you basically have to go right by the book between cut scenes and scripted events. and the graphics are okay at best. for the massive toll they take on framerates in DX11 Ultra, they are a joke though.

Not even 2/3rds. The alien space ship is right around the half-way point and from then onward the game removes any and all of the promised freedom. There is one fight later on where it gives you more options as to how to approach the battle, but other then that the later half is designed for pure shooting, stealth and tactics need not apply. Crysis 2 actually provides wide open battle areas, giving you a large number of ways to approach the large scale fights (almost ever fight in 1 was small). There is a very pre-defined path, but at least the game is honest about being linear. Crytek outright lied about Crysis 1 not being a corridor shooter because it sure as hell is. You CAN explore, but there is literally zero point in it unless you want to stare at the graphics some which I honestly never found overly impressive despite the hype about them.

When I just clicked on that link it shows $39 for download,Crysis is 9.99 for download,so I dunno if that was a one day only thing.

Terribly. Requires at least 3 graphics cards to be playable.

I would have bit for $10 but I missed it. How do you guys know when it will be on sale again?

I have no idea why people are having such trouble running DX11 ultra @ 1920x1080. It gets a little choppy for me in MP, but in SP I'm running ultra with 2x AA and not having any problems using only my i7-920 @ stock and 6870 @ stock. I happen to think it was a lot of fun, and I paid full price for it at release. If I needed another copy, I wouldn't hesitate at $10...
