Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

How long does it take you guys to load into a match? Meaning, from the time you click "Join Server" to the time you get the option to deploy your character? I reinstalled onto my SSD and it still seems to take forever.

When I had it on the SSD it still took like...30-60 seconds. Now that I took it off the SSD (since I play Skyrim more so I put that on instead) it takes like 1.5-2 minutes. Way, way too long for an MP game only loading one map, frankly.

I think the browser plug-in is bugged in that it no longer says it's completed or expands the game to join. I generally expand the game window ~5-sec after I click "Join" and I'm in within another 30. If I just wait, nothing happens in two minutes (didn't try longer than that).

I already purchase my pitch fork, ,,,,,still I don't digest those Co-Op BS.... if noobs are to noobs to get new toys , that's their problem not mine. It's a slap in the face of those one who finish their co-op.

Agreed. Honestly it was not that hard to get the original amount of points. I really didn't put that much time into co-op and I was able to do it in a completely reasonable amount of time.

The only problem I had with co-op was the technical aspect of it. You couldn't chat with anyone in-game, and the public matchmaking was horrible. If you had a friend to play through it with it was fine, but oftentimes I was playing when none of my friends were on, so it ended up being some random who would half the time just sit there doing nothing, or if it was on Fire in the Sky, they would just rage quit when they didn't get to be the gunner.

The co-op missions themselves are pretty fun for the most part, though. I'd like to see more in some DLC, maybe some where you fly jets?

right. I always click on the BF3 minimized window right after it appears.

Yea, with it on a ssd, it makes a world of difference.

Ran into my first set of blatant hackers last night.

Operation Firestorm, on the USA side. Took off in the AH-1Z and began flying to center of map.

Out of nowhere I see what I thought was a missile coming from my team's side, and it even had a smoke contrail. It had a blue triangle (my team) and a blue star (squad leader) over it.

It had a trajectory like a missile, flew right to the towers in the middle of the map, and then I saw a guy randomly spawn right on top of the towers. WTF.

I'll try that. It seems like BattleLog makes the process take a lot longer...when I'm already connected and the server changes maps, I'm one of the first people to deploy waiting for the round to start.

Depends on the gun. For most of them (at least the assault rifles) you get one of the two fairly early.

Depends on the nationality of the gun usually. I don't think I've used all 4 sequentially to tell the difference, but 2 always come before IRNV and 2 come after IRNV.

wait, so it takes longer to get onto the server and load the map, then changing maps on the same server

really?

and this is news?

Sounds like someone used the TV missile to spawn on.

Ever notice it feels so much more rewarding to kill a sniping bastard that's actually being successful at it than it is to kill anyone else?

I was on Firestorm last night and I couldn't figure out where the guy popping up on the map was. Then I looked up and realized he was sniping from one of the cranes. I took a guess and shot an RPG straight up...and got the bastard. I so hope that pissed him off, I can't stand snipers.

It shouldn't take THAT much longer. We're talking about it basically tripling the load time here.

There's playing tactically, and then there is camping. I find this game to have far more campers than any other FPS I've played. Spawning with someone pointing directly at your head is always fun too.

I agree, most snipers think it's ok to just camp, when all they are really doing is hurting there team but not helping with objectives.

lol and double lol, more than often I finish MVP when I snipes. When I’m in a metro rush defending, the attacker doesn’t pass the first round in the field. I kill everything coming near the m-com, so if it’s not helping the team

Well, I finally finished patching. The difference is really apparent. We now a LOT more players camping in the dark spots and pretty much everywhere there's debrie. Pretty much what i posted earlier.

Any word on the HyperThreading problem? Can I enable it again, or does it still cause stuttering?

I don't see the problem. If they are camped defending the MCOM or the flag, then that is what they are supposed to be doing. If they are off camping on some back street, then it's one less guy actually accomplishing their team objectives. What's the downside?

Never have problem with HT enable

yep no problem on my i7 920, Krierger, have u tried the mouse filter raw off option? i thought i had some weird stuttering but it was the game reading my mouse inputs weird causing the screen to move oddly when i was doing small movements like sniping/aiming

Obviously on Rush, and you are the defender, your objective is to defend the mcom, so I don't see where my comment applies to you, I'm talking about snipers who camp vs snipers who play tactically.

I am really glad they increased the bullet spread on full auto. It was really too easy for players to spam full auto at medium and long distances and get kills without regard to trigger control. That plus the IRNV nerf should bring the skill level up a bit to get a decent number of kills which I really like.

So... can't play at all after patch.

Can't even load the game this evening, constant disconnects, crashes during start. Pathetic..

That'll be a nice change, looking forward to getting on tonight.

Ya you right I reply to the wrong guy , I will correct it right away

Congrats so you spent a RPG on a guy instead of try to destroy a tank, no reward to kill someone in the crane in Firestorm, any good player know that noobs snipers hide there.

If you ask me if I will be piss off to be kill once by a RPG, well I kill 20 to 30 engineer a round when I snipes so no problem if they hit me once. Engineer are my prime target as snipers, it help our tank to get and hold position. Aside with their big rocket tube at the back they are very easy to spot.

that's one of the most retarded things i've ever read man. spending an rpg taking out a sniper on a crane is WELL worth the effort. you even said that you like taking out engineers, so why SHOULDN'T he take you out? losing 1 rpg is better than losing the ability to shoot any.

10-15 seconds. That's with my SSD RAID0.

retarded, lol you don't need an RPG to get a guy down a crane. Do you have problem to aim ? Aside I will not be noob enough to snipe in a crane lol, Anyway if I was there in the same team the sniper will be dead since a long time, lol snipes in a crane or a tower, all the map see them

Sometimes I actually like to have fun when I game, and use what may not be the most efficient way to kill someone, but the most hilarious. ;)

Wouldn't mind if it was actually like that. Haven't actually played much yet have you?

That's why I love frag shells in the 870, sends people FLYING when you hit them with it sometimes. It's so funny to hit a guy laying prone and watch his body launch into the air :D
