I tested RAM, replaced GPU, replaced mobo, installed every ATI driver under the sun. Reformatted 5X. Exhausted all my options.

AMD Athlon X 3 450 3.2GHz
GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3
Corsair 4G XMS3
XFX Radeon HD5770
Corsair 650TX 650W

You reformatted? That issue is usually driver related. I am skeptical that you reformatted.

If you reformatted you should be able tell what driver was causing the issue. Just install the drivers one by one and reboot between each install. That should narrow it right down. Unless you have hardware issues.

Try leaving all extra hardware unplugged. Including the DVD/CDROM drive.

Probably used the same drivers.
Quick tour through google seems to reveal video drivers as most likely source of the issue.

Reformatted time # 6 on this rig. This is a very random crash. Very common on W7 64. I'll try that update.

Does the installation image you're using have SP1 integrated into it?

Image? It hasn't been stable long enough to image. Yes its SP1.

The Einsteins who replaced my asus mobo with the gigabyte didn't even reformat. I had a asus driver running in the background, windows installer was broken.
"its very time consuming to reformat if not necessary"
YOU HAD THE MACHINE FOR 4 WEEKS!!

hopefully that was the problem
unfriginbelievable

When I say "image" I'm being generic since 7 can be installed from a disc or flash drive.

I just BS'd again watching a high def you tube video. I'm completely out of answers at this point.

Nothing better than an elusive hardware or driver issue to drive you crazy. So we need to go back to square one on this.

1. Now that you have gotten the BSOD once do you continue to get the BSOD all the time or is random.

2. Since that particular error seems to be driver related... When you changed out the GPU were you going from one ATI card to another ATI card? Or an Nvidia to an ATI card. Have you tried using an older driver. Have you tried removing the driver and letting Windows use the latest driver from windows update?

3. I know that you tested the ram out, but I would really consider changing it out if you have some extra ram around.

Huh? I am confused. Can you just reformat. Don't use an image restore.

Blue screens are completely random. Can run for days with no instability.
We went from a saphire 5770 to a XFX 5770. Tried 10.6, 10.10, 11.7(current) 11.8, 11.11. I use driver sweeper in safe mode. I have not tried drivers from WU.
I'll run memtest all night. I have no other compatible ram but i think your right, i should just buy 8gig of Gskill.

Every reformat has been boot off the windows disk, delete partition etc.

In windows 7 it is rare that a blue screen can not be troubleshooted.

Memtest your ram with blend settings. There are a 1000 different variables with the memory settings that you could mess with. From being ram voltage/settings etc.

Its the ram, not compatible with this mobo. I'm sure i can get it to work but just ordered 8gig ripjaws, its on the qualified vendors list. screw it ram is dirt cheap.

I would be weary. Just because the ram isn't compatible doesn't mean it will not work. Sure it may be less time consuming to get new ram but most ram chips are only made by around a handful of manufactures and sold to memory vendors then rebranded.

The issue is a driver issue in most cases.

4 passes, individual sticks no errors. RAM is set to 1.5V but HWinfo64 is showing 1.488V. Do i need to increase ram voltage? And if so how much?

You did the blend test in memtest86 to run a combination on the sticks right?

DDR3 has a built in voltage regulator in the sticks so sticks can reduce voltage to save power. Plus I don't trust all software applications to measure voltage etc.

Hell not even some boards report voltage correctly, but in this case I think you are fine.

I am not going to suggest increasing voltage on anything without a fair amount of warning. I would mess with timings first, but this completely depends on the ram and the board.

I have no clue what ram you have? What series is it? Serial number etc?

You need to blend test. Also if the ram auto detects timing tables I would drop down to DDR 1066 speeds and also blend test.

I have DDR 1333 ram, but I run 1066 timings because the difference between a tighter timing and faster ram is almost a toss up. 1333 and 1600 ram is just overclocked 1066 ram anyways.

Unless you are extremely overclocking on most applications 1066 is fine. For example on my set up I have a 333mhz cpu bus and ram that runs at 533mhz time 2. I overclocked my FSB to 400 mhz and I still have 133 mhz which I won't hit to go before tapping out the 1066 settings.

Not sure how HyperTransport works on AMD though. I haven't built AMD in years.

A lot of boards have issues autodetecting timings on DDR 1333. Mine did.

newest 11.11a drivers did the same to me. Uninstall and clean install with 11.11b

So far solved. Replaced corsair with G.SKILL Ripjaws F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL and ditched Avira. Totally stable.
