Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Announced for release on 11/11/11.

Dragons have nothing on this -

<snip>

Amen brother. I couldn't get that mod to put an end to that nonsense fast enough.

I wouldn't mind a similar cool off mod for the constant roving wolves that attack me when I'm trying to ride around and get something done. They're annoying and get in the way and fighting them is fruitless and pointless.

My E and R buttons don't work for looting some containers and E doesn't work for stealing a book anymore, now it's spacebar

What the fuck

Luckily, as a side effect, I can't train any skills at a trainer or unlock any more dragon shouts. I also can't drop items from my inventory, so getting overburdened can be a deadly affair in a dungeon. Accidentally looted a cooking pot? You're fucked.

Something got a mind of its own? That's strange.

Yea, no mods installed, no exe changes, just ini tweaks for mouse polling and FOV. Basically, just running vanilla here. I guess PC gamers just bitch too much, though. I should be thankful my copy of the game didn't start my house on fire.

Yeah, really, you need to stop whining already and get over it. You're what's wrong and what's killing PC gaming. ;)

Seriously though, that's really strange that your controls have decided to apparently remap themselves. That's a new one on me.

I didn't think the inventory keys were remappable. I didn't even check the ini. As it stands now, I also can't craft anything of any sort. Sometimes the R "loot all" will work fine in apothecary satchels and urns.

If you're trying to reach 0 mana cost (any school of magic) then the perks are useless.
Multiplying by a percentage will never put you to 0, but infinitely approaching 0. The only way to do it is with enchantments and you will still need the same amount of them.

In other words, once you reach 0 mana cost (via item enchantments) the perks no long serve a purpose.

Yea I was testing to see how the effects stacked, since before I didn't know whether it was multiplicative or additive. If it were additive and each type of cost reduction took it off the base cost, then you could potentially have 4 type of magic be cost free.

Destruction is the only type where being cost free is very needed as things level up though, since it is a constant drain essentially to deal dps. If you really wanted to spam every school, 100% destruction and the other enchant being MP regen is probably the better option than getting 100% reduction in another school.

just cleared out Shimmermist Cave...toughest cave yet...whole slew of tough ass creatures to kill- Falmer, Chaurus and the higher level Falmer Gloomlurker and Dwarven Centurion

so I've been asked to turn into a werewolf...if I agree, how will this affect the rest of my gameplay?...will anyone else even know I'm a were?...any negatives to turning?

You have to become a Werewolf to finish the companions.
You can cure yourself later. So, yes, do it.

I was wondering about the cure because one of the leaders of the Companions told me earlier that he too was looking for a cure

Is there a way to force load a potentially corrupt save like in Dragon Age? I lost 16 hours of play time yesterday.

No other negatives to becoming a werewolf, besides losing perks for restful sleep. You get a power to use Beast Form when you want, it doesn't just randomly change at full moon. Also you get 100% resistance to disease and some other stuff I forget.

100 ressist to disease is awsome imo, i never sleep any way so not having to carry cure disease potions or make trips to shrines is super nice.

Sometimes when I kill a dragon it doesn't burn up and give me its soul...bug?
"Dragon" doesn't give me souls anymore.
Elder, Frost, Blood, etc, are giving me souls.

I noticed the same issue but honestly I have 50 souls right now.
Dragons are pointless; you only need to kill 2 or 3 dragons to use their bones/scales for armor and the gear isn't even that good. Most of the shouts are pointless, and/or it's too inconvenient to swap between 10+ different shouts. Even if I buy all my shouts I will still have 20+ souls left.

Bethesda really fucked up the dragon system (and all things related to it) in Skyrim. Truly.
They're nothing more than a chore for me now, and it's been that way since my 2nd or 3rd dragon kill. They're not even hard to kill, they're just a nuisance. Like flies buzzing around your ears.

Yeah, I'm not that big on it, either.

There's so many good things going on this game otherwise thankfully but I won't complain of some intrepid modders fix this aspect up.

Besides being tough, this cave is one of the most beautiful caves in game.

Also, as I done the mages / dark brotherhood / legion quests, I started doing main thing. The journey through 7k steppes to High Hrotghar is amazing. The views are stunning... I run that path few times, just to enjoy the scenery :)

I also like how the peoplein game respond to your deeds - like they mention certain kills you done for Dark Brotherhood, or they mention other deeds you done.

Too bad this is not included in quests. Became archmage, only to hear from some lousy wizard at jarl's court, that I show potential and should join Winterhold College :)

From all the sidequests I done, Dark Brotherhood things I found most enjoying. Great storylines, interesting NPCs and missions.

Hail Sithis :)

Totally agree. Though honestly, I hardly ever get random encounters...kind of wish there were more, but also more difficult. Good to know about the generic dragons not giving souls. Those are indeed the ones that are not giving me souls.

I need to do the main quest so I can get the shout that downs dragons fast. A lot of the time the dragons just fly around above me but never attack. I have to try to hit them with an arrow which is a PITA.

Got enchanting to 100, had to re-craft my entire Daedric set to do the dual enchants.

By the way, you can use both "Fortify magic" (25%) and "Fortify Magic w/ Regen" (15%) on the same item.

Damn, that's some god armour you've got there. I haven't gotten into enchanting too-much. Can 'fortify sneak' and 'invisibility' be enchanted onto items? because I would love to become a goddamn phantom.

that's very cool...I thought I was going to automatically change into a werewolf every full moon...doesn't seem to be any negatives to being changed unlike a vampire

The initial soul gem used for enchanting determines the size of the magic power available to the weapon.
Thats so you can for example have a weapon that does 40 attacks at 30 damage or 20 attacks at 60 damage.
Yeah, but you can adjust the slider for the amount of the damage/charges before you assign a Soul Gem. I can set it to do say 8 damage, 94 times, then choose the Soul Gem. So if I set it at 8 Damage, 94 charges, then whats the difference in the end result using a Petty Soul Gem and Grand Soul Gem? I guess I don't understand how you choose the amount on the slider, then attach a Soul Gem which also has charges.

Dragons are such damn cowards. Even with a decent bow for my level and decent archery, they laugh at my arrows and my eagle eye. They also just stay in the air playing hard to get. Taste my steel, lizards!

Does anyone know where I can find a merchant with enough cash to buy (touch) my junk? I can only sell so much to the little shops in Whiterun and I am always overloaded and having to drop stuff. Thank you.

No, it is true, according to Lore the Cliff racers were the cause of the dragons going away.
I guess I must have forgotten that bit of Morrowind lore over the years :(.

How does that even happen...They SCREEEEE-zerged the dragons to death I guess?

Dragon1: "For the love of shit, ANOTHER ONE, these things are SO ANNOYING"

Dragon2: "Seriously, more? My tail is sore from killing hundreds of them a few minutes ago"

Dragon1: "OUCH, crap! they sting a little bit!"

Dragon2: "Seriously, dude: fuck it, I'm leaving!"

Dragon1: "wait for me!"

Totally makes sense.

First page? I see only a link to the announcement trailer...

Any who: does anyone know where I could find a fire-damage enchanted weapon so I can create my ultimate frost-troll-killer bow? It seems to be one of the most rare enchantments...

Not sure if this behavior carried over from Oblivion, but if you find a chest with an enchanted weapon, you could try reloading a previous save game and checking the chest again (repeating the whole procedure until you find a fire enchanted weapon.) Additionally, becoming thane of the various towns may yield one, I forget, and their weapon enchantments are probably random as well.

if I turn into a werewolf or vampire will the Daedra automatically start hunting me down?

Why nobody read my posts?

over a hundred posts ago....

:(

When I started reading and posting in this thread the game had already been out over a weak and this thread was already huge. Sorry man, I haven't even looked at the first page.

Nah, it's alright. I was only being half serious.

But m'ike being back is pretty cool, however in my hundreds of hours playing oblivion, I only ever ran into him once. Now that I'm playing skyrim, less than 40 hours in and I've seen him thrice...
