Sidenote, world's most expensive headphone holder.

Long time no post...
Anyways, as the Thanksgiving doesn't concern me I thought I'd share my workstation with you guys.
I used to have a regular case (Coolermaster Cavalier) but it just didn't fit into the picture so I got this little piece of furniture from Ikea and put the computer in the bottom drawer.

It's a pretty tight but perfect fit. I may do a larger write-up on that some other time.

I have the exact same monitor, albeit 20", put in my arcade cabinet. Thats a rebranded Mitsubishi diamontron, those were superb monitors, all the quality of a crt with the brightness and crispness of an lcd.

Amen to that. I'm using this to hold me off until the BenQ XL2420T comes out.

Very aesthetically pleasing.

Has anyone ever told you this!? Your stuff is completely dust free! Why is that?

Because that's how it's done. Clean first, then picture. Just like |Tch0rT| said. Besides, you know he was going to get whooped here for posting a dirty setup.:D

Nice! I can't help but wonder where the optical drive is at?

He doesn't need one? Personally, I haven't had optical drives in my last two builds for tidiness reasons. I have a slim laptop drive in usb enclosure for those rare times when I do need to read or burn a disk, but its not often.

Same here. I've got an external optical on mine. I didn't even design in a place for one on my custom built case.

You're both right on. Though I like to have a blueray drive for the times when I want to veg out with headphones in front of my computer :D

I run an Blu-Ray External for mine. I haven't had one in my computer for the past 3 years. I saw no need to put in such a big drive and barely used it.

are you guys serious? you don't use your optical drives?! what about burning iso files, or installing windows after losing/braking the harddrive or install/formatting a ssd???

you can use remote optical drive with usb, costs as much as regular one, and is rarely used anyway

optical drives are quickly going the way of the floppy disk.

I have used mine a total of 3 times since i bought it 2 years ago. Each time was a re-format. Right now, i dont even have power or SATA connected to it at all. Its just taking up space in my case.

I'm probably going to copy my windows dvd to a USB key, and get rid of the optical drive. Maybe keep a portable optical for emergencies.

Beautiful monitor!

I review products, and thus change around my setup quite frequently. I never give dust a chance to settle! MUAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Plus I am OCD, so no dust for me. :]

Here is my gallery of my past/current computer setups:

Very little dust after my review site. :p

^Since you seem to have used quite a few, what is your favorite mousepad?

Hard:
QPAD HeatoN

Cloth:
PureTrak Talent

Hybrid:
ZOWIE G-TF Speed

Value:
SteelSeries QcK+

I personally use the SteelSeries QcK+ NaVi edition though.

Here is my workstation.
I just moved the shelf back down so the new speakers I hooked up would be closer to ear level.

hmm doesn't the sideways under desk case get kicked alot?

I'm 6'2" and I can barely get my legs under most desks without kicking the wall let alone with a tower under there.

lol, good thing about being short then. Theres more room than the picture looks, and I'm only 5'6 so I'm perfectly comfortable. I would have it the other way, but my table is not wide enough so my thighs bump it.

My playstation:

I like Energy Speakers too. The RC-10's are very nice bookshelf speakers and the RC-Mini center matches fairly well. Do you have surrounds too?

I also like Yamaha Receivers, but it would be so much nicer in black :)

FYI I run a Yamaha RX-V667 in my office. My PC is on Zone 2 with Energy C-200 speakers and Zone 1 has a cheap set of Klipsch HD 500 5.1's connected.

My main speakers setup is a Yamaha RX-V3900 with Energy C-500 fronts, C-C100 center, CR-10 side surrounds, and RC-Mini rear surrounds.

BTW, I wouldn't be able to have the PC under my desk like that. Can you put it on top where the center speaker is?

Yeah, I love them too. I've went through many speakers before settling down on these RC-10s. My surrounds are two V-Minis which are the same as RC-Minis. That Yamaha was from a HTiB receiver or else I would have a black one.

The top shelf cannot support my computer. I underestimate how heavy my comp is. It's so damn heavy, it's close to 40lbs probably. My old computer was a light weight.

For you, perhaps. I use mine every day. I don't see the optical drive going anywhere for a while.

Finally nice to hear someone else speak up about it. I'm with you, I use my SO often, I rip cd's for driving and for friends all the time, as well as for making videos for our church and of course for watching DVD's with my roomies.

"Finally"? I think it's been the consensus since the beginning of time that drive bay optical are the norm. It's only been recently that people don't place a lot of priority on built in opticals, especially since the advent of the external optical drive. To each their own. If you use it every day, more power to you and your built in optical. If you don't and would prefer to do without one, then so be it. :D
