HP Touchpad 16GB $99, 32GB $149, Active for .edu

I'm honestly a bit frustrated at this point with the whole thing; I have three remaining options for getting one of these:

1.) Camp out at Best Buy tomorrow morning before 7 AM.
2.) Hope that HP opens up their online store again
3.) Trade my Cisco ASA 5505 for a 16GB. Short end of the stick, but I don't even use the thing.

EDIT: oh, and #stayjellymybabies

HP twitter gal is the most annoying bitch on the planet. Apparently, tweeting like a 8 year old girl makes the bosses think you are an all star social media manager or something.

I've heard from some sources that HP still has touchpads en route to resellers and their own Home store inventory. But there is no concrete ETA.

I've also heard that they're going to continue manufacturing them until the end of Sept.

Now that is interesting, I haven't heard that anywhere. I've actually wondered if it wouldn't make sense to keep selling some of them at a loss for a while and write it off as a marketing expense. The only thing is - marketing what? HP is exiting the consumer arena entirely outside of printers it looks like, so not sure what good it would do them.

Don't think anyone knows for sure. What if they had the parts and were going to just liquidate them, but with all this interest might as well sell them?

That's just one rumor though, nothing definite. I'm just hoping the online place that's holding my order gets some mid-sept. I think I could manage with that. Just that thing of wanting it your hands now! The impatience.

I caved and bought one on fleabay for $210 shipped (16GB). If they do pop up at $99 again, I'll try and grab some for gifts. I know someone that could really use one, and not just as a toy.

And btw, these trackers seemed to be right. I've only really been able to check once and that was this morning. I got there a bit to late and it seemed all the vouchers were issued. I should've hang around but didn't. Always regrets.

Seems the thing to do is check at night, what I've been hearing is the inventory will pop up here and then you have to get there in the morning to try and secure a spot. I've also heard about them handing out vouchers the night before just before closing, then you return the following morning. Vouchers seem to be valid until noon that day.

Sometimes you have to clear browser cache to get the right results.

Woohoo!! HP just called to confirm my order of 1 Touchpad 16gb and that it will be delivered on Sept. 6th. Whoever made the rogue/saved cart link, thank you muchos!!:D

Edit: If you are wondering why they called me, I left a message in the mailbox with order number and phone number to be reached last night.

I went to the Shelbyville Rd. Best Buy in Louisville, KY this morning about an hour before they opened...apparently there had been several people there since 4:30 in the morning and all the touchpads were spoken for. I don't remember this much excitement surrounding a tablet since the original iPad... or maybe even the stone tablet in the bible

Posting from my Touchpad......very nice! About to do some updates. I have to say that this WebOS platform is sleek.

There are plenty on Ebay. I wish people would stop acting like this is such a hot item.

No one wanted them a month ago.

This is ONLY a good buy and hardly a sought after item because of it's coolness factor.

for $100 from my desk at work, definitely. at $200+ or a long wait in line, its not as good of a buy.

LOL, after a week of standing outside of BestBuy for a Touchpad, it sort of turned into a matter of pride to get it for under $200.

Aarons carries Touchpads. However, most are not willing to sell it without a computer at the same time.

Yeah I'm quite surprised at how functional this baby is as a replacement for my desktop. I haven't used my main rig at all since snatching this puppy three days ago.

Laying in bed listening to Pandora while browsing the web and having a very fun time.

so does anyone know where I can find a touchpad in tx in the houston area? Been trying all week long online and at b&m. It seems all bb stores around here are out of stock and will not be receiving any more shipments. I'm about to call it quits...maybe there is a secret password I need to give before they will sell it to me, lol.

Unfortunately, I think us Houston folks are completly out of luck. I've hit up 4 Best Buys, found nice emplyees to look up "in transit" info, and received the same answers from all of them. The story is that the entire region is not going to receive any more...

Agreed I got the same sense/feeling.

Unfortunately you Houston (and probably Austin) folks are SOL because of the tech communities...they're more aware and faster to buy stuff like this than, say, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. BB website has reported units in stock there since the beginning! I've thought about driving an hour there and cleaning them out to feed all you poor souls but I just don't have the time right now. :(

And instead of nice folks who would by this for their fellow forumites in those areas of plenty and cut them a good rate, people are being extremely greedy.

So HP SMB order status says this:

Order #: 0306xxxxx Order Date/Time: 08/25/2011 03:15:46 AM

Customer #xxxxx Estimated Ship Date: 08/28/2011

Customer PO #: 444xxxx Estimated Delivery Date: 08/28/2011

Associated Order #: 000000000 Credit Approval Date: 08/25/2011

...
Configuration: No Ship Via: ECON VALUE FRT
Express Config: No Carrier Info:
Ship Complete : No

Sale Amount: $198.00
Tax Amount: $17.82
Total Amount: $254.26
Credit Terms: CREDIT CARD
Credit Status: Credit Approved

So the ship date and delivery date are the same? Weird, huh?

for those greedy bastards who has the guts to sell their HP touchpads here on [H] b/s/t for twices the price I just wanna say FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU t(-.-t)

now please excuse me as I go to the corner and cry some more

I had ordered from HP and all of them have been shipped. Its definitely clunky and slower compared to an ipad2 but for 149$ no regrets.
I plan to gift them all to family. For those who couldnt grab one ...invest your money in a used ipad2,much better IMHO.

do the hacks/tricks that are posted online. makes the touchpad much more responsive. for $85 bux, i aint bitchin

The touchpad has two speaker outlets but I can hear sound from the one on the lower corner only. I assume the upper outlet is for microphone and not a speaker. Can someone confirm this? When you guys see YouTube videos, can you hear from both outlets?
