Nintendo 3DS Coming...

The 3DS w/o 3D is barely an upgrade from the DS. That said, I'm not even defending 3D for gaming or movies. Its all 100% a crock and NOTHING more than another gimmick to get you to buy another DS or another HDTV.

Fight the power, buy NGP. Buy a real next gen system.

sorry to say this, but you are making no sense from any kind of perspective in your post..

When is graphic becoming Nintendo main selling point?

Have you tried 3DS's 3D? if not you should try it first before you make your next comment.

Tell me about gimmick.... nVidia's 3D Vision/S3D .... that is call gimmick... without glasses is the next step of 3D evolution, which is the future..

That's a first. So 3D isn't a gimmick now....it's the glasses?

ok.

The graphics have been upgraded to Wii-level.

Makes sense. The DS was pretty much a portable n64, stands to reason this'll be equivalent to a Gamecube mk2. It will be interesting to see comparisons to the NGP if it really is nearly PS3 standard.

Huh? Have you seen any of the games or demos? its way beyond that of the DS without 3d enabled. Check out the videos of resident evil revelations or mercenaries too. What we're seeing today is just the tip of the iceberg.

I didn't play around with the slider, but I felt like my eyes were crosseyed when using it at the store. Only played a few minutes but it felt uncomfortable I guess. Hard to explain.

The graphics looked better than most of what I've seen on the psp. Then again, I was looking at the 3d and not nitpicking graphics.

Mine was shipped from Amazon on Saturday and should have it today, looking forward to it and from testing out the demo last week it’s a great little system and no doubt the games will become better as well overtime. In the end I paid $183 after the $25 promo from Amazon and $45 credit I had.

About the the new PSP sure it’s going to be more powerful but also expect to pay more from what I’ve read it will be around $300 - $350 and this is Sony we are talking about which we know from the past how they like to price high and by the time the new PSP launches DS3d will have more great games and no doubt you will see it cheaper too and yes I will be buying a PSP as well but my point is the 3DS is a powerful little system and its out now :)

The 3d doesn't bother my eyes. I guess I'm not sensitive to it. The graphics are unquestionably a big step up from the DS Lite I had. Street Fighter 4 is quite impressive. It's got the same look as the X360/PS3 version. It's obviously not as high of resolution, and the backgrounds are static, but it appears to have most all of the same effects and graphical flourishes. It doesn't even look like a port. It looks like SF4 on a tiny screen. Although I've heard its only 30fps in 3d. I don't mind, I'm not hardcore.

I'm interested to see what NGS brings. However I'm really not looking for a replacement home console. So if it's just mobile versions of typical PS3 franchise games, I probably won't get one.
(That is unless they bring out a NGS sequel to Demon's Souls)

A good buddy of mine grabbed 3 for himself and family and he's pretty much resigned to the fact that SF4's the only really good launch title, and he turns 3D off while playing it.

I'm holding out for a Mario Kart or Smash Bros. personally. I really don't want another Wii.

got mine yesterday, but oh what a day.....

did the trade up at gamestop for dsi 75% toward 3Ds, very nice, $180 out the door.
then i drove 15 miles down to toys r us to get buy 1 get 2nd 50% off deal, right as they are closing. made it, bought SSF4 and Steel diver for $40, total, after using a $25 GC.

raced home only to open the sf4 box and NOT FIND THE GAME IN THE BOX. By then it was 7pm, toys r us is closed and 15 minutes away.

went back today, told the store manager what happened and they say, "oh man, do you know how often that happens here?"........................................ Ummm... No.

got my game and left.

finally home and playing it.
holy cow is the 3D just in your face, i mean steel diver looks great; like looking at an aquarium, but SF4 is just sick. the depth is incredible, the character just come alive, even in regular view. the training stage is just trippy. i got ridge racer on the way from amazon next, this is turning into a very awesome little device.

drama aside, it was all worth it.
in fact, im gonna go play it right now.

Just finished playing for about 2 hours picked SF and your right its straight up in your face as a matter of fact the 3D is much better then I expected lol, I played Pilotwings/Star Wars and Ridge Racer I have to say I am impressed by this system so far ( I cannot imagine how good a 3d Zelda will be, wow!)

Tactics fans should be sure to check out Ghost Recon Shadow Wars. From the guy who brought us X-Com.

Truly the hidden gem of this launch.

dude, you and me both. seeing sf4 sold me on this thing, its incredible. cant wait for ridge racer to get here, and june is looking to be one hell of a month with the new kid icarus and zelda. july has resident evil, and somewhere in there i found a new shin megami tensei game. WHOA. I'm stoked.

truly impressed. TRULY. IMPRESSED.

I got one last Friday but I have not bought any release titles with it, instead I purchased Okamiden (a DS title) which I have been wanting to play for some time. I will get a 3DS game when more interesting titles become available.

My main reason for going for the 3DS is to not be limited by the technology - if I had bought a DSi which is (near) EOL I could only get DS games. Whereas, going with a 3DS is maybe more expensive but I will be able to enjoy the new generation hand held games just as much as the good DS titles.

I had some fun fooling around with the AR games and shooting my girlfriend's head :D

Got it :)
Along with Pilotwings... machine is awesome, but the 3D screen is really prone to micro scratches... cleaned with a fiber cloth (good brand) and got hairline scraches

Tried it in the store, really enjoyed playing it quite a bit. Having said that, without any real games I want I'll pass until it's cheaper and has a deeper selection.

Mine arrived from Amazon. I probably should have held off as there isn't a single game, released or upcoming, that I'm looking forward too. I got it more hoping that it would have a larger screen than my original DS (hoping that it was similar to the DSi) and that it would have access to the DSi Store...

That said, the 3D is definitely easier on the eyes once you adjust the slider.

I hope Nintendo pulls out all the stops at E3. I'd like an announcement for the next (non-paper) mario bros game.

I got Ridge Racer today. It's good but the 3d isn't quite as impressive at SF. The cars look very 3d, but the backgrounds look a bit flat.

My DS Lite finally broke after years of "light" play. I didn't even realize the 3DS was out till I got to gamestop. Bought it since it'd be a waste to get another DS since loz:eek:ot is coming out for it. The 3D is quite nice. I like the slider to find the level that lets me find a level of 3D that suits me. Build wise it feels alot better then my DS Lite. Mainly my least favorite thing is they have to scale up the image on old DS games to fit the screen though select+start fixes it kinda but then its too small for my liking. My favorite thing about the 3DS that was worth $250 the Slide Pad It feels so good compared to that horrible thing the psp had. I like the recharge dock it comes with also.

Overall a good buy. The Battery is kinda meh but I charge it nightly so that's not an issue.

I got a chance to play with a 3DS yesterday. Played a bit of PilotWings.
I must say, I was near blown away by how cool it was. The 3D effect is just excellent.
I really can’t justify getting one, because I never play portable games anymore, but I was really impressed.
Nintendo does it again.

I wonder, are the graphics essentially HD? I wonder, when you consider how small the screen is, whether the graphics are equivalent to HD in terms of resolution, lack of jaggies, ect.

Make no mistake about it. The pixel density on the 3DS is higher than your computer monitor most likely. But that doesn't necessarily make it HD.

Does it look HD, subjectively? I've never seen it in person.

When I played it last night my impression was that it was big, crisp, clear with vibrant colors and very bright.

I had a presumption that the disply would appear washed out in 3D mode, but it really is super clear and bright with great colors.

The 3D effect was great and easy to enjoy. I didn't find myself moving the unit to get a better 3D effect, is was good without fussing.

Also graphics seemed much better overall than prior DS standards.

If only it didn't cost so much. Many will buy this for Zelda and get their moneys worth I am sure.

While fools like me wait for the NGP.

I tried the pilotwings demo at best buy. The fact that the technology for non-glasses 3d exists is pretty cool but so far I'm not enamored enough with it to buy one. I don't think 3D adds anything to movies in 99.9% of cases and I have a feeling it will be the same with video games. My thought on switching back and forth between 3D on and off in pilotwings was "yeah that's neat but so what it doesn't really improve the game one bit and doesn't really even increase the immersion factor". Granted, I think games will get better over time and find better ways to incorporate 3D but so far I don't see a need for it.

go to gamestop and plpay the SSF4 demo they have. Pilotwings didnt sell me on this thing either, but SSF4 totally did. The 3D is absolutely incredible. Everything is just perfect, the menu backgrounds, the char selection, the VS, 3D EVERYWHERE. Its gorgeous. Been playin that and ridge racer nonstop. I take it to work and play on my breaks. Funny how this tiny display is now my favorite display that I own....

and I was skeptical before...
funny.

Movies I agree with, only Avatar so far has really impressed me but gaming wise try Motorstorm or Wipeout in 3D and then say the same sentence. I dare ya :D

I'm really liking my 3DS too, Ridge Racer and SSF4 are excellent. I just hope Mario Kart 3DS comes out soon and I'd love a new F-Zero

Picked mine up today and I'm a lot more impressed then I expected. I had a hard time justifying the price, but I figure that I'd probably end up buying it for OoT and Star Fox anyway, might as well start enjoying it now.

I also figured that I'd find the 3D neat, but something I only turned on every once in a while. With SSF4, I keep it on. It's just too cool. I turn it off for the AR stuff, it's too annoying to keep my face in line with the 3DS while I'm swinging it around.

I'm also going to invest in one of those battery backs for it and probably some DS RPGs while I wait for the library to build up (I've sold off almost all of mine). The only DS game I still have is Asphalt Urban GT that I bought on DS launch.

i find most of the launch titles unappealing except for ssf4 and pes2011. These two games makes use of the 3d very well. But i ended up buying pokemon black and saving up for a 3d mario.

I'm in the same boat. I'm really enjoying SSF4, but I'm not a huge fighting game player. The other game I bought is Lego Star Wars 3, which has been great for me (I like the adventure and collecting stuff), but since it's just a rehash I could see how someone who's played it before wouldn't be interested in it.

I just need some RPG's. It looks like Persona and Shin Megami Tensei are coming out soon (again...). But it's looking like Paper Mario might be the soonest original (not a rehash) RPG on the horizon.

I still see no reason to upgrade from my DSLite.

I had the same feeling at the launch of the DS. Considering games like Feel The Magic XX/XY and Spider Man 2, along with a remake of Mario 64 and the Metroid Demo were all that existed to tide people over, I think that system has done quite well.

3DS is following it with only a slightly stronger launch library. SSF4 and Rayman 2 being the remakes (though Rayman 2 has been remade so many times it's kind of ridiculous). A Ridge Racer, an Asphalt and a Madden follow the old model as well. the only thing that sticks out for me is the $100 price jump between the two (launch prices).

But after I played one of the flying levels on Lego Star Wars, I realized how amazing Star Fox could be on this system. A big complaint has been that the 3D effect isn't a "pop-out at you" but a "pop back deeper", that's going to compliment the Star Fox 64 remake in one hell of an amazing way. I wish Nintendo would make a new Star Fox game, maybe a sequel to Star Fox 64 (better than Armada and that dino game).

I'll be the first to admit that 3D is a gimmick. It can't be incorporated into game mechanics because of it's inherent limitations (it relies on brain trickery using 2D surfaces, making the 3D effect essentially different for everyone). But it's one damn cool gimmick.

Its a remake of the DS Devil Surviver game.
A new Persona game would kick so much ass, but isnt going to happen for a while.

Having a great time with Ridge Racer and SSF4. Online is great in SSF4, and RR is just addictive. Dope music and hella speed. These will tide me over till June. I love this thing. I take it to work and play on my breaks. People come to my desk wanting to check it out all the time now. 2 are waiting for their tax return, and I streetpassed somebody in the building the other day. If the Internet browser comes soon and is actually useful (flash, youtube, audio), I'll take this thing everywhere.

My only disappointment is the friends list.
You cant communicate whatsoever. Its ridiculous. You get a little banner message, your status and game you're playing, and you can display your one favorite game. Thats it. No other options. No messaging or anything. That severely needs an upgrade.

Oh well, waiting for the net browser. According to this article, it might actually be good.

HTML5 would be amazing. I hope Access can do it. Guess we will see.
Very happy with my toy. And I'm 28, yo.

.

Atlus is on the books saying they're releasing the Devil Survivor Overclock along with three other 3DS games. One titled "Shin Megami Tensei", another "Shing Megami Tensei: Persona" and then Etrian Odyssey.

Likely they're all remakes, but I'm still excited for each of them. But if the one titled only "Shin Megami Tensei" is a remake of the original, I might squeal like a little girl.

Thats the one I wanna know more about, they haven't said anything since the release announcement. I want a remake of the PC Engine game. Oooooooooo, and I just hope the Persona game isn't 3, again. Maybe Persona 4? I could dig that. Missed it the first time around anyway. I'm not sure of the Devil Survivor game though, because most of the action is on the bottom screen, like the original DS game, and they aren't changing much from what I've read.

A completely built up game, using the 3DS features would be welcome. But we may have to wait a bit longer. I just hope some time this year, I love Persona.

Am I crazy or are the colors available for this unit absolutely hideous to behold? I swear I think it is killing their sales.

Really? Blue and Black is pretty good IMO, I really wanted a blue handheld for awhile. Better than the purple GC, and even I liked it.

Kinda wish there had been a white one, but I like my black 3DS just the same. I'm hoping a special edition one for OoT comes out in June, but that may be hoping for a bit much.

I hear great things about this game, xcom for the DS apparently...but no bases or research :(

Finally got to play one today. Played SSF4.

OMFG, I was blown away! I really didn't think a small screen would pull off 3d very well but I will eat humble pie. Well done Nintendo. Now when Mario Kart is released and they hit £150 I'll jump.
