This is like my favorite thread in the whole world. :D
I've been browsing for like a week, its inspired me... annnnd I spent $730 on computer upgrades last week. Birthday present to myself. ;)

Note: In the next three weeks I will have three of these Dell E2311H 23" monitors, my second one is coming on Wednesday, and the ViewSnoic 23.6" on the left of this picture is going up for sale (with the wall mount).
My new graphics card is coming this week as well... Eyefinity here I come. :D

Sorry for the crap picture quality! When I get the setup completed, I'll pull out the DSLR... I just snapped this real fast from my droid.
Oh annnnd, don't mind the mess. Personally... I think of it as more of an organized mess, but... it's still not wonderful! :rolleyes:

My basement used to be a nice rec-room/living room with carpeting and better walls but the I tore the carpet out and some of the walls some time ago. I have a big remodel project for basement coming up, with a new wall and then a sub-floor + laminate 'stone tile' flooring.
...Like I said in a previous post regarding RangerXML's basement - I not only have an air purifier but I have a spa-fan on a humidistat to evacuate air from my basement. It moves a ton of air in a very short time with a low tone, unlike a very loud shower room fan. If he wanted to spruce it up all he'd have to do is to apply some elbow grease spray bottling bleach water and scrubbing the walls and fan drying them.. slap up some studs + drywall, maybe apply some solvent on the floor to remove anything - and then paint it.

... ..I am also posting today because I very recently bought a 27" cinema display and a few 19" Asus TN's for a PLP setup 1400 high. The room is a little beat up before the remodel , and the whole setup pretty ghetto at the moment. I just threw it all together to test everything and slapped up a few basic wallpapers.
.... The portrait mode 19" screens are on cheap monoprice three-joint arms, whose bases I had to shim up vs dipping unfortunately. The cabling is a mess and the table top its on needs a layer of plywood added to it for thickness so I don't have to use those blocks and shims (I'll paint it black to match). I have an ergotron mx arm for the 27" display I need to install too. I'll post nice clean pics later with the cabling sleeved and everything tidy in an awesome remodeled room - but this will give an idea of it for now. From my perspective in my chair, the bezel's are tucked behind the 27" without a gap more like the left side shows. The camera can't catch the right angle (the 19" screens are dropped back a bit to "shrink" them perspective-wise so that they will match the 27" size better). The brightness of the LCD's should have been turned down for picture purposes in hindsight as well. Consider this just a preview. :rolleyes:

Well no one liked my crappy phone pic preview of my new 19" - 27" -19" 4360x1440 PLP setup I guess :p .. maybe I just posted at a bad time. I apologize for the pic quality. I haven't seen any other 2560x1440 based multi monitor PLP setups and I remember someone asking about them so I thought I'd throw a pic up with some info.
..... The 19" panels in portrait are a bit oversized so I dropped them back a bit on their ergonomic arms to match better (about eight or nine inches farther back bezel to bezel).

Some games can run in windowed mode across an entire PLP spanned desktop if you edit their config files. There are also some apps people made to correct the HUDs that I've seen (moving the hud elements where/onto which monitor they prefer ). There is also an app called softth that sortof hacks games to run fullscreen, but I think its dx9 only and breaks punkbuster functionality on a few popular multiplayer games.

.. I haven't messed with gaming on all three screens on mine yet. Its nice having the side panels for chat apps, voice apps like vent, browser, email, file browser, download managers, etc though. I play some lighter-weight games like TF2 and L4D2 in a windowed mode w/out borders on the middle screen so that I can move the mouse to the side panels without minimizing the game. I used to do that in WoW as well - windowed mode + maximized. The downsides are a slight performance hit, and the fact that only one gpu is utilitzed if you have a multi-gpu setup.

.. Other than gaming the app space is great for multitasking on different screens,or running stuff like photoshop , 3d modeling apps, or video authoring apps etc - allowing more room for toolboxes, timelines, preview windows, etc across the whole span.

Neither am I......at all, its just the first image I snagged to make for a background. I'm a lotus fan at heart being that I race one but I know there is no hope for them in F1.

Also Ikea in case you still wanna know (well before the famous Ikea Nesting Instinct thing). And the desk goes back even further then the pictures which I think date back to somewhere around 2002 (the last one).
 
FW900 lives on hehe... I just took mine down, not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

... I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the other two monitors yet. I'll prob sell the 28" hannspree. In the long run I might do three monitor eyefinity so I doubt I'll have room for the crt anymore. Its still a great screen though glad to see some still being used.

Just fyi , some dude actually uses an fw900 as middle monitor in an eyefinity setup. I can't find the thread atm but I did find the linked pics.

Just a heads up for anyone looking to do the 20/30/20 setup. I got my 20's from this vendor on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...81823&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_3757wt_1078

They were very easy to deal with and they actually knew the product(rare I know). They gave me a discount for buying two and made sure they grabbed the IPS panels for me. I have no affiliation with them but I highly recommend them. I got a pair of IPS panels, they look brand new, no "burn in", excellent communication. and they know what they are looking for when it comes to the different panels. I'm just a happy customer

Ignore the dust on the chair. I also don't have a lot of room, I am backed up against a wall and There isn't much room to do anything let alone have this setup but I somehow manage it

How are your headphones adjusted to sit like that? I have the wired version (G500) and they dont appear to have that capability. Can someone confirm that?

heh... i telecommute a lot for work, that's just the room i work in

i have a very minimalist taste in interior design which is maybe why some people are saying it's sterile... that's just my taste, i like my rooms simple and clean =)
