I know the claim is pretty silly based on stock cards. But they sound kind of like some desperate child by the way they worded it. AMD really need new marketing people...
Nvidia cards are blowing up when overclocked, so that statement is not relevant.

Childish tactic by AMD...wonder how they will feel then Intel does the same thing and humiliates them lol
Has been done by the very same reviewers and no card died.To make it fair, lets overvolt the HD 6990 beyond spec. See how that shit survives![]()
You should read some more. That surprised me until I read they used 1.5v off the bat. LOL.

Yeah, it's a bit silly, especially using 3DM11. It's an irrelevant benchmark no matter which card "wins."Childish tactic by AMD...wonder how they will feel then Intel does the same thing and humiliates them lol
Depends on the game and resolution obviously.

Where does it say he didn't test higher voltages?Actually Techpowerup did not increase the voltages. Read their review. "Stock voltages were used". http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/Radeon_HD_6990/25.html
i run a lot more voltage through other cards during testing and this never happens .. on gtx 590 with nvidia's power capping feature which is designed for that purpose it doesnt work. i think it's my obligation to tell you, no ?

why didnt the powercolor card blow up at 1.45 v ?!
On one hand, kudos to AMD for putting nVIDIA in its place for making false claims about the 590's stock performance. On the other hand, I feel that making claims based on stock performance does not tell the whole story. The 590 has better overclocking potential than the 6990, and will almost certainly be faster (on average) than the 6990. A person looking to get the maximum OC performance available for $700 would want a 590. Either way, they're both good, and AMD puts more performance on the table, while nVIDIA has an ace up its sleeve for the enthusiast. They're even.
This whole argument about who has the fastest card is nothing but "bullshit". I don't care who has the fastest framerate in some silly benchmark...if the thing stutters all to hell or crashes every minute in actual games. What I want from my videocard is the ability to play my games smoothly, with decent eye-candy at a decent price. That's it. So who cares if the HD6990 or the GTX590 is faster...if they both play everything to your satisfaction?. I don't....
Nvidia are kind of like apple in that regard i think. Their products, driver installs, and even colour schemes have looked so much better then ati/amd for so long now that people will like them no matter what they release due to association, among other things.
Half of you are victims of good marketing, and don't even know it.
