Good video, but I'm a little disappointed that we haven't seen any significant multi player footage. That's when I'll really start getting excited.

I was pretty worried when people were discussing how neaarby shots would affect your vision earlier. Seeing that I'm reassured, it looks like they're going for an effect where you'd blink reflexively at the bullet impact nearby, rather than being shaken about by it.

DICE do come up with and execute very well a lot of good ideas.

I got hopeful when I heard that too. I really hope it's actually implemented and not just mentioned - it would reduce the amount of CG/similar spam in MP with any luck.

i think it's a neat idea for MP, but it would have to be limited to friendly-fire servers. even then i can imagine the problems it would cause. in BC2 there's plenty of dipshit teammates that walk directly into your line of fire when it's obvious you're engaging an enemy. imagine how many people, oblivious to their surroundings, will run directly behind you as you fire off an RPG and the ensuing bitching because you 'teamkilled' them.
 
I think Darkest Hour mod for Red Orchestra already features backblast, same as ACE mod for arma series, don't get your hopes up tho, we still haven't heard anything about the beta, the server files and the mod tools, I seriously doubt any of you realism whores will get your fix out of this game, unless Project Reality eventuially gets ported to frostbite or something :D

Ditto. My excite-o-meter is already at about 9-9.5, once we see multiplayer footage it'll probably shoot up to an 11. :D
 
am I alone in not liking the newest vid? it seemed so poorly scripted.

the visuals are stunning, the animations are good, but it just seemed poorly executed. I mean, the guy with the rocket launcher was crouching in plain view of the sniper for like a whole minute.
 
I'm sure they're saving the multiplayer footage for closer to release. We've still got a long time to wait on this, they need to ramp up the hype closer to release somehow.
 
btw, the destruction from when the sniper shoots the ledge is not scripted. At PAX they showed another area of the demo where the person playing the demo was shooting at several enemy in a building with a ledge like that and wherever he shot huge chunks of debris would fall away.

Fair point. Though to be honest I can deal with some mongoloid bleating at me or a loss of a couple of points if it makes for more of those classic BF moments - blasting someone sneaking up to knife you from behind, entirely accidentally, for example.

chompin at the mother fuckin bit thats for damn sure. Game will be preloaded on everyone's machines and we will be trying to launch it every hour on the hour hoping someone somewhere pushed the launch button early on accident lol.

Ha h ha ha ha. I can't decide if I'll buy digital or physical. I think I might buy it from EA store, unless steam has it unlocked for sure.

I hope they do a beta soon. Has anyone heard anything about the beta coming out? Aside from the medal of honor people getting early access to it.

if it's anything like the BC2 beta it will begin ~1 month before release and will be widely available, with or without a pre-order.

MOH buyers get beta access??!! I didn't see any special information about that when I bought MOH...is it only certain editions or somethin?
 
Waiting for some MP in action. SP stuff so far looks great but BF3 is all about the multiplayer.

That's a reason I'm excited. Normally the SP is decent and the MP is amazing. The SP so far looks amazing, so if they stay true to the formula, MP should be more than we could have hoped for.

I'm just pissed I probably won't get the BF3 soldier name I want (assuming they allow people form the beta to carry over their soldier names like they did with BC2) since I won't have access to the BF3 beta.


A small thing but annoying nonetheless

I know the feeling as my name tends to be taken pretty quick. Though is found some numbers with meaning I can tac on the end so it's not some useless string of numbers.

Though I'm tempted to rebuy MOH for the limited edition just for beta access. Disposable income, gotta love it.

really? they were duped? people had every friggin chance not to buy it or cancel their pre-orders. sure EA/DICE dropped the ball on the game and they admitted it. but i wouldn't say they duped anyone. who ever bought it. that's their fault for buying it, not EA's.

i'd buy the physical copy.. its worth just having that case to say you "own" BF3.. its definitely one of those games to have in your collection.

This...imo at least. I didn't think MOH was so bad. It was boring after awhile cause it lacks variety and the "unlocks" is like a story on rails...but the actual gameplay was pretty good to me. If they had more stuff to unlock and play on then I think it woulda been more successful.

i'm willing to bet the beta will be widely available, even for people who did not purchase MOH limited edition. i'd dispose that income on a few six packs of quality microbrew instead.
