2 - 2209WA and 1 - 47LE5400.

Makes me want some chicken chips and some smokes.

Hey guys.

Hoping to replace this ghetto desk setup soon. Desktop monitors are Dell U2311H and Dell U3011. Going to replace the U2311H with another U3011 at the end of the month.

It's an ergonomic office chair I picked up from Staples (in the UK) during this week.
The brand is true innovations.

is that a game? never heard of orion. link to desktop pic? :D

Its Master of Orion, really old classic, runs in dosbox on newer computers. It was a joke for the most part, previous posts had some new stuff like SC2 or Batman, I had to go old school.

As for the background I do not remember where i found it, but here is it uploaded to imageshack. 4008x2600 resolution.

Ore no Imouto. Sweet.

Rhys, probably the westinghouse on the left.

I ordered a u2311h, and hopefully my eyes can focus on the smaller screen and I'll get 2 more 23", put the 25.5" on the side as a TV, move the 40" TV to the other side of the room.. not sure what to do with the xerox on the right.

Nothing too fancy. Three Samsung 2343BWX-1s, running a total resolution of 6444x1152 with bezel correction turned on.

Yeah, see here, 2048x1152
Never have seen another monitor with that res except this model.

Yeah, they didn't do that great on the market. I think Acer and Samsung did a limited production. It seems these did slightly better in the overseas markets. That being said I have the same set up, 3x sammy's, 6144x1152 res. I really love it...though I wish they were bigger then 23". Would rather have 24" but for about $200 each (at the time) they have been a great monitor.

I've been very happy with them, especially considering that gift cards earned at work paid for them almost entirely.

They look very nice. Here's my revised setup (moved the top row down):

Brightness level is not odd like it appears here.

Not much point since I'm not really a gamer. Desktop is for multimedia entertainment/web dev/IRC etc.
If prices for the 3007WFP-HCs on the used market keep coming down I'm actually thinking of creating a multiple monitor array with 2 cheaper 30" models on top eventually.

Also I'm going to university this year so space may be an issue if I did get a third to go on the end. However, I might see if I can get one anyway if I can find one on the used market. These 30" monitors are nearly impossible to get refurbished in the UK, I was even struggling to find any 3007WFP-HCs available. D:

Wow, I got all 3 of mine with a few month used from various source. (Including [H]) Also a 2x2 array of 30"rs would be insane. I'm thinking of buying 2 more 30"rs and going 5x1 P

Or just go for two powerful eyefinity 6 cards and have 12 in a 3*3 array. Get it over with. :p
If I could afford 4 3007WFP-HCs I would have done that, but they still charge about 800-1000 USD (based on exchange rate) for them here, even used.
Seriously though, there is a point at which each additional screen becomes less useful. One for each major task would be just fine and dandy.

When I had 5 1080p 23" monitors in landscape, I used only 3.
When I had them in Portrait, I Used All 5.

Now that I'm using 3 30"rs, I only use 2.1 Monitors. I could get away with only two (I used only one for a short period of time as well using hydragrid)

The other 2 30"rs I'll buy will be used exclusively for gaming purposes.

Thing is I often like to have a full screen video playing when I'm working/browsing/chatting on the other monitor(s) so 3 would be the optimum number for me.
"Why not just buy a 1080p TV for that?" I hate inconsistent pixel pitches and physical screen sizes. This U2311H I'm using is actually a temporary loan from my mother's new build.
If it wasn't for the pixel pitch I would even consider just flanking a couple of U2711s for my video or less important windows. Also if I'm brutally honest I don't think my e-peen can tolerate anything less than 30" now! xD

Haha, I totally understand that.

Hmm this has a lesser panel than the U3011 but I only really want the space for general work and play. As long as the resolution and pixel pitch is the same that's fine by me. Now, I wonder if I can get them to sell it to me at a 400 GBP discount!!!

S-IPS. It's an 8-bit LG panel as opposed to the 10-bit one they put in the U3011/ZR30W. Doesn't matter if you're just using it for general PC use off a DVI cable though.

Personally, I like S-IPS better than H-IPS. E-IPS is kinda in middle of those two.

EDIT: Oh I see, so less color? I kinda don't much about the bit depths.

I wouldn't mind E-IPS if they put it in a 30" panel. The savings would outweigh the loss in "consistency".

EDIT: 10-bit vs. 8-bit is really only useful if you're a professional graphic designer. As I said, the main reason I bought the U3011 in the first place was due to cost issues and value versus the alternatives available. I knew about Hazro but the U3011 was actually an xmas gift and I didn't want to get stuck with something unreliable as my main monitor.

Well the only E-IPS panel I've seen was the 2209wa and i think it's too small to really have any consistency issues.

True that, I'm just saying I really can't tell much difference in real use terms between my U3011 and this U2311H.

Only thing that concerns me is the brightness, I'm masochistic and like to turn up the nits past 300.

That'll kill some eyes for sure mate. But if you have a lot of light in the room to begin with, that makes sense.

I seldom operate with the lights off. My room at home is lit with 2 chandeliers holding 5 bulbs each.

Well, here's mine. Just replaced my 24" Dell 2405fpw with a U3011.

Current setup... by mattlach, on Flickr

Only one thus far, but I'm hoping to get some 20" 1600x1200 panels in portrait mode for the sides in the future. Hopefully by then Nvidia surround will support this setup :p

Just added a side monitor, a 2007FP.

Two Monitors? Ridiculous... by mattlach, on Flickr

Crappy pic. I was playing with automerge and HDR for the first time to expose the screen and the desk right at the same time, but the results are a little weird.

I like this setup. Now I need another 2007FP (must save money)
