Are the Prince of Persia games any good? Which ones should I get? They list 6 on sale.

Sands of Time, Warrior Within and Two Thrones are all fairly decent. The recent self-titled one was pretty but very easy. Forgotten Sands has received a fairly universal "meh" reception.

You know, a trick that has always worked is have someone from the US such as myself buy the game on Steam as a gift and Paypal the equivalent money so you don't get price-gouged. It's not the most ideal solution for sure, but it works great if you really don't want to get ripped off.

Check the main Steam storefront page, the deals are going for another ~4.5 hours, then the next set of daily deals will be posted.

Yea sorry... shoulda said that I cant access steam from work because its blocked. thanks for letting me know.

Dammit Im torn on BC2 I already own it but itd be nice to have it on steam so I could buy Vietnam on steam.

Isn't it better to be excited at work and be disappointed at home rather than the other way around? :p

I did not like any of the prince of persia's personally & when the new list goes up I will update the first page for you guys. There is still 3h 27m to go.

There are actually 5 games, and one of them has the regular and digital deluxe versions on sale. I think they're all worth getting. For $20 all in, it's a great deal. A lot of people complain about the 2008 PoP game, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, and although Forgotten Sands isn't quite as good as the first three, it's still a good buy at this price.

You don't seem to understand the fundamentals of economics.

I wasn't attempting to justify the prices of the titles overseas, I was simply stating a fact of life, that market forces drive the prices to a point of equilibrium.

I don't think it's that simple though. I have an account with steam and have a history of buying games with them, I'm a long term customer of which there is a big potential for profit by repeat business.

Part of repeat business is making sure your customers are happy and in business sometimes it's better to take some kind of initial loss of revenue if it secures long term relationships...A good example is the phone bill I have to sign for our business (we run a call centre so this bill is fairly large!) we spend a lot of money with our provider and they offer us good prices, the prices are about the market rate so we'd see no significant benefit moving elsewhere, but it's still a smart idea for our provider to offer us deals where we get cheaper than market rate if we sign into long term deals with them, because the security of long term payment over a number of years is worth the slight drop in profit.

Back to steam. As a customer I've bought close to 150 games with them over the last 2-3 years, and there's no reason to suggest that trend will do anything but increase. But by golly-fuck, if they keep being complacent with doing shit like hiking our prices (or anyone elses for that matter) simply because they can, I will swiftly take my business elsewhere, even if it costs me slightly more in the long run.

We're people, we have relationships with our providers that extends simply beyond the transaction itself but includes how they treat us as customers, is it with respect? Are the customer service people polite and apologetic for problems? Do they resolve issues as fast as possible or leave us hanging? That sort of stuff.

But it's not steam. The fact is, the content provider/game co/publisher/whatever, sets the price through a licensing agreement with steam. So while I feel your pain, you need to talk to the company that made/published the game, or whoever set up the pricing agreement with steam. /OT

Squeeeeeeeeeee!!!

The moment we've been waiting for all year has arrived!

So far I've gotten B:BC2, the FEAR pack, a few indie packs, and all of the DLC for Just Cause 2.

Can't wait to see what the next set of daily deals is! The main one I'm holding my breath for is Dead Rising 2 - really hope that one goes to like 75% off at some point soon.

Goddamn Steam sales. Too many great offers, no time to play even half of them!

Valve are complacent by allowing publishers to rip off customers through steam, of which valve have 100% control to regulate. If this was discrimination based on race, or gender or sexual preference there would be hell to pay, but simply because someone is in another country they are charged vastly more/less, or made to wait.

At the moment my protest remains to simply not buy them specific titles, but if they carry on like this not acknowledging the problem then eventually I'll just stop doing business with valve and the specific publishers. In a perfect world we'd all protest/boycot and their bottom line would be hurt sufficiently to make it worth their while cleaning up steam of these a-hole publishers, but the reality is that will never happen.

Still I stick to my guns, they wont get a penny more of my money on games where I'm treated like a second rate customer, it's their loss.

The only real 'control' they have in this case is to decide to not sell it. But they're a company, and like all companies, want to turn a profit. If Steam decided not to sell these titles on principal because they don't agree with the pricing and/or the currency conversion, then it would just be some other DD service that would get the exclusive deal to distribute them to Australia or whichever other country, and things wouldn't change.

And has already been pointed out, if the prices were indeed too high, not enough people would buy them and the publishers would be forced to lower their prices.

The list has been updated. Enjoy spending your money. for all the at work please refresh the front page.

I added that list to my frontpage. I will do that from now on also. didnt think about it. Thanks

Hey, Resident Evil 5 sold for five dollars last year, and now it's going for ten?

Also, this is where it starts to get tough. The isometric Lara Croft game didn't appeal to me, based on the videos I saw. But here it is selling for five dollars, the price of a coffee, and I'm thinking I should buy it.

But why buy something I might never get around to, or just plain dislike? I should have lerant my lesson from buying Trine, Torchlight, and Tropico 3 last year. Five dollars here, ten dollars there, it adds up.

you pay 5 bucks for a cup of coffee? if the game doesn't appeal to you then dont waste your money with it. I am sure you have a ton of games already that you actually wanted and need to be playing anyway.

I'm amazed there are any games left you don't already have. ;)

The hardest part about these sales is controlling your trigger finger :p
I've already got a pretty long backlog and yet I find myself spending a few dollars here and there. Must resist...

It's worth it at five dollars, even if you only play through chapter one, which was my personal favorite.

In my opinion, at five dollars you don't have to finish, or even get halfway through a title, to get your money's worth. Ten hours in, and you've gotten your money's worth.

The Lara Croft game at five dollars doesn't call to you? But... But... What if... it turns out to be the greatest game you've ever played!

Edit: If you own any Tomb Raider game then Guardian of Light is only $3.60 - okay, that's hard to pass up on. Even if I were to get just two hours out of it...

Just an FYI that if you own any of the other Tomb Raider games, Lara Croft's only $3.60.

Also, just to clarify, LC is not an isometric game; the camera angles do change, and it is a 3-D world.

doesn't appeal to me at all. in fact its even less appealing than the normal Tomb Raider games.

yea but 5 dollas here 10 dollas there, or 60 bucks for a new game.
1 game = 60 bucks
5-7 games = 60 bucks

hmmmmmmm

how about Half life 2 : episode 3 for 150 bucks.... Yea I would pay for that

Dash it, you're right.

Are you going to be here everyday to save me from myself?
I will try. so did you get Singularity yesterday? I kept thinking about but it I know it will go on sale again for cheaper long before I finish the crap load of games I have now. I dont think I am every going to finish Just Cause 2 since I just cracked 50% with nearly 60 hours in.

I did buy Singularity - it just remains to be seen if Steam will beat the price at $18.

Just Cause 2's main campaign is short, but I'm only halfway through. I've spent 45 hours in that game... just jacking around.

I'm thinking about Resident Evil 5 and Defense Grid. What opinions do you guys have on those?

Also, have any of you tried any of the Indie Packs?

have you played the other RE games? RE 5 is a bit like RE 4 but it isn't as scary which sucks. its certainly a good game for 10 bucks though and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Defense Grid is totally worth it you won't regret it. The indie Kids pack is definitely worth it just for Crayons physics and Max & the Magic marker ;)
Try the demos and see for yourself :D

RE:5 is great if you play coop with someone. I bought it at launch for 360 and really enjoyed it.

Defense grid is quite good if you like the genre. It's a standard tower defense game, but keeps a decent variety of maps and enemies (some good maze building levels as well as some tower optimization set path deals).

The indie flight pack looks good, but I already own Flotilla and Gratuitous Space Battles (both of which are very good, well worth the price of the pack on their own), so there wasn't a lot left of in pack for me.

Yesterday I gifted 5 copies of Super Meat Boy, two copies of PB Winterbottom, and one copy of the Valve catalog ($25 instead of $50 due to a pricing error, woohoo!).

Nothing today really sticks out at me, especially since I gifted Defense Grid during last year's sales. Anyway, there are still ten days left, I'm sure something else will pop up.

The Indie packs are super cool btw, lots of amazing deals there. Too bad I already own so many games. :)
