Ikea desk gallery

I finally got my Galant setup (mostly) complete. Still have to get another drawer to match the one on the right. One week after I got the desk, my 3yr old son took a pen and put three huge gouges in the wood right above my keyboard - right where I'd notice them the most every single day. Gotta love that boy!

Still waiting for the eyefinity dongle before I can run the third screen!

would it be okay if I were to remove the middle planks in between the legs of the Fredrik desk?

So is there anything special about the tabletops? I am thinking about purchasing some of there legs to use with a home made top as what I want is MUCH larger then they (or anyone else for that matter) carry's. I am going to build my surface at 96" long & 33" deep.

the T-legs from ikea attach to a metal frame which attaches to the underside of the table. i assume you could use the frame/leg combo with your custom setup. the legs each have a single allen bolt that attaches the leg to the frame. they have different length frames, so you'd have to do some research. the legs and frames are sold separately from the table, so you are in luck there.

actually the legs I was thinking about were the VIKA CURRY Legs. But at this point I hope its a regular flange at the top since I already ordered 6 of em. And the table top has been stained & is awaiting polyurethane now. from the little bit of a description there is there they appear to be basic legs with flanges at the top that will simple screw into the table top. & if not then my wife is going to kill me.

Jerkers FTW!

@Cambo: Could you please show the back of the 19". or what arm is that.
What wall paper is that on the 19"? Looks like there is a C clamp n the top left shelf.

@UberGeek427 : Is that TF2 in the list?Love the Mousepad.

Here is my office, as I work out of the home.

The only thing I have left that I want to do is get a door for left portion of the tall cabinet. Ikea sells a double-door for one pane. Oh yeah, I also need to fix my cable management.

I have been following this thread for some time and I finally got around to redoing my home office. I posted more pics in the 2010 Workstation thread but I wanted to put one pic of my IKEA desk here.

You can check several more shots of the office in the workstation post here
The desk legs are Vika Annefors with a 78" Vika Amon tabletop.

That hardwood makes me drool. :D

That's a really cool setup. That glass top must be a dust magnet! :D

@willy88
Yeah, I still haven't told my wife about it yet; which is something I will never do lol! It really is an amazing chair though. It was really hard to figure out at first. I was setting it for a curved back because that is what I thought I had. However, after a week my back was in real pain. It wasn't until I set it for a couple days at a flat back setting did I really start to feel how amazing it it.

@wra18th
It is a dust magnet which is why I picked up that hepa air-filter on top of the smaller bookshelf. If I keep my door to the office closed and the windows closed I can usually go a week without dusting. Otherwise I need to dust every day or two.

There are some nice and clean setups here. I'm still not done getting mine in order. Perhaps I'll finish that task this weekend.

The mount is just a 20 dollar mount from amazon.

Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-ML1...TF8&s=electronics&qid=1270841948&sr=8-1-spell

It works perfectly, no sag. The holes don't line up with the jerker, so i had to drill through the uprights, installation took 10 minutes.

The C clamp looking thing is just a desk lamp. I mainly use it for the power outlets, but it provides decent light.

The 19" displays my samurize configuration. It's basically like a realtime updating background. It draws data from gpu-z and speed fan and displays it. It's completely embedded in the background, so you can click over it with no interference.

what keyboard is this? Looks comfy.

what keyboard is this? Looks comfy.

It is the Belkin Ergonomic Keyboard.

It was discontinued a few years back (I was able to pick up 4 at $15 a pop). It is my absolute favorite keyboard because: 1) it is black; 2) it is ergonomic and I have big hands; 3) it has the normal-size arrow keys, not like "t" skinny ones.

The only drag is that if you use a PS2->USB converter on it (since it is PS2) then in FPS games every 5 seconds if you are holding the arrow keys (e.g., holding "up" to go forward) the input will cut out and your dude will stop and you will have to press the key again. Really, really odd... only happens though when using a PS2->USB adapter; works flawless if you use PS2, but that is going out of style.

As an aside, why the heck is it so hard to find a black ergonomic keyboard with wide (normal) arrow keys and no stupid junk at the top of the board (e.g., useless shortcut buttons)?

If anyone is looking for a Galant in the South Florida Tri-County area i.e. Palm Beach, Broward County and Miami Dade, PM me. I know a guy who has an extra one in like new condition. Black color, right angle, A legs.

can anyoone recommend me a TV stand from ikea. tv size is 32 inches and would need to also accomodate a ps3, xbox creative t20 speakers and a router it would be for a bed room

I'm pretty sure i'm going to get a Galant setup this weekend. I need the extra desktop space for a work-from-home setup. What is the shelf with two legs called? I think I need that on one of the desks so I can fit my WFH setup and still have room for my printer.

You mean the PC shelf? That is the Summera.

You would not believe how much weight that shelf can safely hold.

I referring to the shelf that sits on top of the desktop supported by a couple silver legs.

Those are usually just home made, you can get the legs in 4", 6" and 8" lengths. The board itself is called Jarpen and comes in a couple colors.

I have the same thing sitting over a Brother laserjet printer, works out nicely with 8" legs.

I built a similar shelves but Jarpens weren't finished on all four edges so I got some doors (Effectiv?) to use on the outside of my L desk. They are about 15" deep and my preamp/amp slide under them nicely with 8" legs. I had to use different, shorter screws too. I put a band aid around a tiny drill bit at 1/2 inch for measuring to make sure I didn't drill pilot holes too deep.

If you need slightly taller legs look at Godmorgon, more expensive though. Capita has the stainless steel look, nice to work with too.

There are a million "shelves" depending on what you need. Besta, Billy, Rationell, Pax, Stolmen, Inreda, Jarpen, Lack.

It's the Ott-Lite Vero in Brushed Nickel Linky

Looks nice . . . does it work well? Do you like it? Would you buy it again if you were looking for a desk lamp today?

Thanks for the link.

Edit: I think I'm going to order one (or two). Can you tell me how tall it is and how long the arm is from one end to the other? It looks HUGE on their website although no measurements are provided within the specs.

I think it's a very elegant lamp that is exceptionally well made. So yes I like it a lot, even if it only serves as an ambient light source for me.

It is ~20.5" from the base to the top and ~24.75" for the lamp part, including the "handle". I have the light parallel to my desk, but you can adjust it up/down and swivel the lamp left/right.

Hope this helps.
