Has anyone heard about the quality of Prototype on the PC? Is it going to be a shitty console port that barely gets 15 fps? If so I'm just going to pick up the PS3 version. The game looks incredible and I just hope they put as much time into the PC version as they did the console versions.

I'm looking for the same answer. The game has my interest, but without an actual *hands-on* review, I will not touch it until then.

players are streaming the xbox version on justin.tv already, if you watch the gameplay you can see the ui looks like true multiplatform dev created with pc in mind. no fisher price style huds, clean options and dialogue menus. the game itself looks pretty tight graphics wise, as in well optimised to scale over different hardware. the xbox gameplay I saw seemed to be running off of low-medium textures if you judge by res and detail quality so it should perform well. the only things I'm worried about are if they will bother to include nice higher res textures for the pc version and the camera control. from the console gameplay it looks a little wonky already, and it's a tough game with lots going on at once. if we don't have full free mouse look while fighting and climbing around then it could suck.

Same here and preferably more than one.

I really hope this thing is good.

While I have tons of faith in this game I would love for them to put a demo out for PC. Either way I am boned, lost my job just 6 days before this game is supposed to be out so moneys tight. In any case this games alpha footage looked better than some games gold footage but that doesn't guarantee a good PC port I guess.

i'm hoping it will be good myself! looking foreward to this game... and I only got a wii for consoles...

Then it will suck. If they bother to put the time into optimizing the PC version and actually giving us some graphics options other than just changing resolution then I'm sure they will add proper mouse support. We can only hope.

I'm hoping this is good. If it sucks on PC I will probably not get it until I finish infamous on the PS3.

I just got Infamaous but I want Prototype also...if they did the PC version justice..Until a proper PC review is done..Infamous will hold me over.

Looks like we won't have a review until it's out.

All I see is one unknown PS3 outlet giving it a 9/10 so far but that can't be much to go on.

Unfortunately, more often than not, I find that when the reviews for a game get sat on until the game has been released or even a few days after that...it's never a good sign.

I'm hopelessly addicted to inFamous right now, and this looks a LOT like it. Hopefully it's as good. This could cause a case of awesome game overload, which I haven't had in a long time.

A guy in Australia already got the PC version.

He says it plays fine at max settings, 1920x1200 with v-sync, on his GTX 285. He didn't run a frame rate counter, but he said it played very smoothly.

Note that they haven't shown the ps3 version at any events, and didn't give a pc or ps3 copy for review to some big sites like ign :(

360 and PS3 reviews are starting to pop up. Very positive so far. As long as it isn't a crappy port I think we may have something similar to inFamous on our hands. I picked a copy up earlier, so I'll let you know when I get home.

If you go to a site like gamerankings.com you can see it's shaping up VERY positively across all the platforms. I guess I'll be picking this up pretty soon at this rate.

inFamous is pretty sweet, by the way.

I was watching some videos on youtube, I wonder how many PC controls there are going to be? It seems like there could be tons, Other then that it looks great...even if the graphics aren't top notch

All the PC reviews there (and at Metacritic) are just retitled console reviews at this point, however. Doesn't look like any of them have even played it.

...?
What do you mean, "how many PC controls"? Like, how many key bindings? What an odd thing to say...
"Equal to the number of buttons on an X360 controller" is probably a safe bet :p

Picked the game up yesterday (PC version obviously) after work from EB Games and logged a couple hours in before the hockey game came on (Go Wings :p). Runs pretty good at max settings on my system in sig. Didn't turn on AA cuz I forgot :p but I had 1 crash early into playing, but after that no problems. The powers are pretty cool, and cutting the Blackwatch guys in half is a blast :D

A lot of key binds to remember but overall the game is pretty fun. The graphics are not the most spectacular I've seen, but gameplay is more important to me than pretty colors, and so far Prototype has delivered.

Yup, you're right. Starting today I'm starting to see more what I expected as the 7's and 7.5/10 reviews start to trickle out at least on the 360 version. I know there's little to no reason to believe the PC version will be any different.

played for like 30 minutes this morning. It's pretty fun, Mindless fun, but fun nonetheless.

The textures are pretty bad and it doesn't run as well as it should imo. But when you get in a huge fight you don't care about the graphics haha.

I really hope people are able to mod this game. High-res textures will make it look so much better.

How does one change the camera mode?

And I agree with Loser_guy on all his points. Bring on the high-res mods!

If you don't mind me asking, what specs are you running with?

I'm no longer interested in making the purchase. This is from the 360 review, which gives a general idea what to expect from the pc.

From IGN:

6.5 Presentation
Very hit or miss. Some cutscenes are a confused joke, others are well-produced. The story isn't your standard fare, but that doesn't mean it is outstanding.

5.5 Graphics
If it weren't for some nice animations, this game wouldn't have anything going for it visually.

7.5 Sound
There's nothing exceptional going on here, but the sounds and music do their job. The voice acting is decent.

8.0 Gameplay
Toying around with the powers, consuming and crushing everything in your path, and generally playing with the world is fun. The mission design could be better and things do tend to get too chaotic.

6.5 Lasting Appeal
You can do just about everything in well under 20 hours. I didn’t find myself compelled to play for a second time at all.

I agree with IGN. I'm not sure how this got a 7.5 and GTA4 got a 10 though.

if you guys want a good action game with replay value, get devil may cry 4.

it has optional challenges (but rewarding) which will take some time...also the graphics are nice. also there are no bugs or glitches. it's all quality so you wont feel ripped off.

this game is stupid. presentation is nice but its not good. you are pretty much invincible. its easy and dull.

2/5

*refrence
god of war 1 & 2 5/5
gta4 5/5

I'm enjoying this game immensely. The textures can be low res in some spots, yeah.. but that shouldn't detract much from the overall experience. To me what's great about the game is the frig'n gameplay and story. FUN gameplay, VERY open...didn't think I'd like it this much to be honest. No crashes, smooth 60fps, able to remap keys perfectly...these developers deserve some money haha.

Well worth the purchase.

Asus G50VT x2 (p8600 @ 2.64 ghz 9800m gs with dox optimized driver 4gb RAM According to my little OLED screen the CPU usage normally stays at 85% so my CPU isn't the cause for low framerate.

Is the game locked at 20 fps for anyone else?

Seems like, I was wondering why lower the res and disabling AA didn't help.

Someone tell me I'm not the only person that thinks this game looks horrible.

Some of the texture look awful, mainly the weapons, others look decent. The cut-scenes look great it's too bad the game doesn't look nearly as good.

Not the visuals, I meant that it looks like it would be terrible to play, the same as most other japanese games like Dynasty Warriors or such; you play one big hard nut with crazy moves and run around killing hundreds of crap enemies whose only purpose is to be killed in a cinematic fashion.

The game is horribly buggy on the PC, avoid at all costs until it's patched.

First off, if you have Windows XP SP3, don't even bother. Numerous reports are flooding in that the game will not run on SP3 due to some glitched OS version check. Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista appear unaffected.

There's a much bigger problem though; the game checks how much RAM your video card has and will not let you set the resolution higher than 1280x800 if you have anything less than a 512mb graphics card. The problem is, it checks every card in you system, not just the primary one. If any of your cards have less than 512mb of video RAM, it will limit you to 1280x800.

So here I am with a GTX260 896mb and an 8400GS 256mb (used for my 3rd monitor), the game sees the 8400GS and caps my resolution to 1280x800 even though it's running on the GTX260...

Seems comparable to my system discounting the SLI(with new games I generally assume SLI will NOT function correctly unless the game has that "The way its meant to be played" screen).

Thank you for the heads up.
