Hi,
I'm just an end user planning on building a second computer and was looking for some feedback before I build my new toy.
FYI - this will be a general use and gaming computer (current games mainly, 2020-game technology not necessary), my budget is approx $800 (no shipping) and I already have a monitor, mouse, keyboard, couple fans and a couple of HDs. I don't need a RAID config since I already back up to external drive and really don't have anything worth burning to 4-5 different HDs.
I don't plan on overclocking but am open to trying. I don't know what Firewire, Crossfire or SLI mean... so just bear with me.
Operating system = XP SP3, willing to upgrade to Vista or 7 when it's out.
New England based, more specifically MA.
1. Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive
2. COOLER MASTER Centurion 590 RC-590-KKN1-GP Black SECC / ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
3. Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400
4. G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ
5. Tuniq TX-2 Cooling Thermal Compound
6. Thermaltake Toughpower W0128RU 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Modular Active PFC Power Supply
7. ASUS P5Q-E LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
8. SAPPHIRE 100258-1GL Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
I'm about to hit "checkout" but figured I'd see if more knowledgeable people could give some advice before I purchase.
Thanks in advance!
Dan
