Hello all! Sorry for starting a new thread, but I cant change the title of the old one.
This build is for a LAN party rig, primarily used for medium-heavy gaming. I do NOT over-clock and I have no parts to re-use, so let me know if I forgot anything :p
I plan to order the parts on the 11th of December and I live in Southern Ontario.

Any thoughts/suggestions on this build would be greatly appreciated. If you don't think it will all fit, or can see a problem with it (such as missing cables that must be ordered separately, worried I am missing some) let me know. Also, should I mount the psu fan blowing in a certain direction? I have read conflicting reports and am not sure what case modifications might be needed.

Thanks to Tiraides and Freezebyte for helping me get this far.

Save yourself a few bucks on the Seasonic M12II 500 and get the Seasonic 430 M12II watt version. Or even lower IF you can do without modular.

I have a Gigabyte mATX, E7300, 4gb PC800, 640gb WD, dvd burner, Sapphire 4670, X-Fi gamer, and 2- 120 and 2- 92 fans on a Seasonic S12 II 330 watt.

Plus if that is a retail motherboard it should have sata cables in the box.

Ah, reviews of the Hard Drive stated that there was no Sata cable with it, that's why I added it. Did I add the wrong cable?

No, but no point in buying one as the mobo box will come with a couple. I'd honestly do a C2D setup that will spank the Athlon in almost all areas, but thats up to you.

I'd also do 4gig of the G.Skill DDR2 800 for $44 on the egg. Awesome stuff and cheaper

I'd also go with the PSU for cheaper and more wattage.

Liteon drives tend to be very rattly and noisey. I'd do either of these plus you get lightscribe

And yes, definently upgrade your drive to a 500+gig for the same price and better performance.

I changed the hard-drive, however I dont want to use Western Digital.
Ok, I switched the psu and drives, but two questions:
The psu is not modular, but the claim "advanced cable management", keeping only the cables needed. Isn't that the same as a modular psu?
Will the new drive fit? I cant find out how large it is...

*Also, Im using Canadian pricing

Its modular, I have it ;) its just Antecs "wording" of modular. Any drive will fit fine in that case.

Ok, thanks. So can you think of anything else I may need? (no peripherals are needed)

Hrm, what would be the cost difference for that C2D vs this AMD system?

Depends on your budget. If your set on Quad its gonna cost a bit more but will spank the Athlon. The Q6600 is a VERY popular model here

If quad isn't your game, duals are very popular and run most games faster vs quad due to the higher clock rate. The E8400 is a VERY popular C2D model and easily overclocked

The wolfdale E7300 is popular model for the more budget minded while still performing well
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115132
Or the E5200 for a bit cheaper but still above a Celeron

A good mobo for the price that will handle any of the above CPU's

For a bit higher quality and more OC potential, a great choice. Have one and I love it as do alot of other folks

For those mobos, Will I have to change my ram? Did a quick check but it seem all they support is DDR3 1066 / DDR2 1066. It also does not have RAID, not sure if that will bug me though.

I like the looks of the wolfdale, however that depends on the mobo and its compatibility.

ddr2 is ddr2... you can run ddr2 1000 or 999 or 998 or whatever if you want.

Sorry for the indecision, I never even considerred intel untill now.
Ill stick with my current processor, the motherboard however, It seems Asus' quality is slipping, is this board repectable, or should I switch it out?

Drop the Neopower 550. It is not worth it IMO considering that you can get significantly better quality modular PSUs, even in Canada where you live for rougly the same price:

There ya go dissing my NeoPower again Dan :(

Ah, but the NeoPower has a better warranty....

The Silverstone has a 3 year warranty and the Corsair has a 5 year warranty. The Neopower has a 5 year warranty. So the Neopower's warranty only beats the Silverstone's. Corsair still is of better quality.

Corsair = 5 yr SS = 3 yr Antec = 5 yr. Keeping anything past warranty dates is definitely not [H]ard.

Shipping and handling is 150...
Lol, Thats more than any single component.
Ah, such is life.

And now I sleep, figure this out in the morning.

id get the antec earthwatts 500, if modular cables arent a problem, if they are id go with a corsair but they are pretty expensive.

and yea for the hard drive id definitely go with the wd6400aaks (640gb), its probably the fastest 7200rpm drive available now, and its fast, cheap, and quiet.

Hey, just another thought.
Should I go with the "HIS Hightech Radeon HD 4670 512MB" Videocard instead?
It seems to have a better cooling system on it then the MSI equivilant...
I won't use all 3 ports anyways, only need a wifi card and graphics.

Sorry I missed the I live in Southern Ontario. Lord your parts prices suck up there is the Canadian dollar that weak or is there some other reason for those prices?
Payback for bagged milk? ;)

The dollar isnt that weak right now, its just everything costs more over here.
That's why I shop in the states when I can, however duty still sucks XD

I wish I could get my girlfriend to order the parts for me, she has her greencard and such, not to mention relatives I could ship it to. Wrap it in a nice box with a bow and tell the nice customs official its a birthday present so I dont pay duty.
Ah.... I can dream

the MSI GeForce 9800 GT N9800GT is on sale at newegg.ca for 145 + Free shipping.
Should I go with that rather then the card I currently selected?

Thanks again to all of you guys for your time and effort.

I wouldn't go with MSI at all. They only have a 1 year warranty,

Ok, will the EVGA 512-P3-N975-AR GeForce 9800 GT 512MB fit inside my case?

Ok, there are 4 diffrent versions of the 9800 GT, Where can I find the diffrences with them? Is there a website that can explain why eVGA decided to relase so many versions of the same card?

Just go with the cheapest eVGA 9800GT. You can always just look on eVGA's website for the differences between the different 9800GTs but in the end, just choose the cheapest one. The differences aren't life shattering or that significant anyway.

Differences between same line cards are usually 1. different clocks (factory overclocked), 2. different coolers 3. a combo of both. The cheapest stock card is what I go for unless a factory o/c card is same price; I can do my own O/Cing TYVM.
