what mobo do you recommend for under $300

ill be running

wd raptor hdisk
intel core 2 dueo e6600 3.2ghz
NVIDIA 8800 GTX
corsair dominator - DDR2 - 2gb

Thinking about the Lian-Li G70 Case

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3

Save that xtra $200 for a fatter wallet aswell.

I want best performance + overclocking abilities.

I wanna spend >$100 on mobo

Don't get a 965 based board. A Gigabyte P35C-DS3R is not that much more, and it allows you official 1333Mhz FSB support / 45nm support.

so the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R is better than eVGA NVidia nforce 680i or ASUS P5k

The 680i is the only way to go if you want SLI. Go EVGA if you go SLI -- 122-CK-NF68-A1 for lifetime warranty,122-CK-NF68-T1 for 2 year warranty. Stay away from the TR/AR revisions, they are older boards and will not OC quad cores.

Some will say the ASUS board is better. I've had a lot of bad experiences with ASUS, however, so I have a hard time recommending them. Decide what feature-set you want/need, and buy what works.

Rev 3.3 on that Gigabyte mobo i reccomended offers support for 1333 fsb and quad core.

But saving money isnt something yall are interested in :) -- Just my take. (Im also not familiar with the high-end computing market)

If you don't need or want SLI, the choice is clear in my opinion. The P5K Deluxe is the best board I've ever worked with in the time I've been writing for the [H].

What drives that? The desire to spend over $100?

I'd listen to the guys who replied, some are actually trying to get you the best for your needs and actually save you money.

Both the P5K and DS3 are great boards from what I read.
