The bottom line is, if you are considering buying any DDR2 in the next few months, you better buy now.
There are deals floating out there for DDR2-800 for $80 shipped (no MIR)
or DDR2-1066 for $80 after MIR
or DDR2-800 for $65 after MIR

If you need links just say so...I can track the deals down while they last.

As a result of the speculated rise in price of computer memory chips, shares of Samsung, Hynix, and other major producers rose today. Shares of South Korean company Samsung, the largest producer of DRAM in the world, rose 1.2% today, whereas the runner-up, Hynix, also based in Korea, climbed 4.3%. Other companies including Powerchip, Nanya, and Inotera experienced gains similar to Samsung’s.
"Prices of the benchmark chip yesterday rose for the first time in a week on the spot market, helping fuel optimism computer makers are buying DRAM ahead of back-to-school and Christmas demand during the second half. Prices have plunged more than 60 percent this year, eroding earnings at companies such as Samsung, Hynix and Nanya Technology Corp."

Prices for DRAM this month are expected to be at least 10% higher than last month. The 10% raise by chipmakers represents the biggest increase since March of 2006. The rising prices should help improve the companies’ profits for the next few months. Experts believe that the chip prices will be sustained by peak seasonal demand in the second half of the year, which means that RAM is probably going to become more expensive very soon, and stay that way for at least a few months.

haha, hard time.... anyway, yeah. that's an interesting article. I've heard the rumors and I've seen some price increases. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

luckily I got my Tracer beforehand :)
Yeah I just bit on some cheapo DDR2-800 from OCZ for $80 with no MIR. Decent 4-4-4 timings though.

I don't even need it yet, but I anticipate revamping my HTPC in a month or so, so I will want 2GB at that point.

Well even if up 10% hella lot better than last summer, when I look a the invoice for what I paid then I hear a screaming sound coming from my back pocket where my wallet is.

fixed. up until pretty recently, memory prices were just insane. i'm glad it's gone down a bunch :D

These cheap prices ended up making me buy ram that I never needed...

But, all I know is I am very happy that I got 4x1GB of PC2-6400/8000 Ballistix for less then $140AR when half this amount was going for double that price a little over half a year ago!

10% as in retail? That's not too bad then. Unless 10% this month, and then another 7% the next one after, and etc.

Finally a computer part I can't see myself losing much resale, if anything will maybe even gain a little resale value. :D

techincally they have already raised in price. ive seen most ram go up $30-50

still great prices.. i mean. pc6400 is <$100 if you want to go that route.. dont see it going any higher anytime soon.
