Thanks. Well, I'm hoping to put together a system that's ready for a quad core and it would be nice to have memory that will last through at least one upgrade.

@ NoobTech, how long after you placed your order did you get that message? Looks like I'll hold on to my A-Data ram until I know for sure the Firestix ship out.

I ordered it last night.... like 5 min after it was posted on here... I just got the e-mail a few min ago....

Crap, so much for that. I'm going to call a Sales rep at BuffaloTech and see if I can get some kind of explanation.

EDIT: I just called and talked to Mike, he told me that there shouldn't be a problem with the Firestix. He said there were pricing errors with a different kit, I think the 2 x 512mb DDR2 533 set that was originally priced at $33 or so. He said people that placed orders on that ram got e-mails, but anyone that ordered the Firestix should be fine. He again confirmed that these use D9 chips and said that if I want to confirm that they've been shipped, that I can call tomorrow morning to check with them. I'll keep you guys updated.
 
i just went to their website and the kit is still listed for $120.

i don't see how that's a price mistake

Definitely not a price mistake, the only price mistake seems to be the 2 x 512mb kit that was originally selling for something like $33. I say order away if you're interested, shouldn't be any problems.

Well I did order the firestix... and nothing else. I wonder if they are just sending the email to everyone due to the disaster they are having with their website. I talked to the lady on the phone right now and she said my order did go through... so that's a sigh of relief. The e-mail really scared me. *wiping seat off head* LoL! :D

This was a fun experience... and whether the order went through or not, the people who work at Buffalo are great. That's customer service!! ^_^
 
i ordered the kit lastnight, i would get another one but i would have to use a 64bit OS to be able to utilise all that ram and 64bit computing still sucks on the desktop
 
Finally!!!!!!! Geez I had 2 pages going it was a race for one with $ shipping and one with $9 the 9 one no big deal. I swear after 2 hours of that shit if I don't get D9s I'm gonna freak the hell out seriously. Whats the easiest way besides removing the spreader to see if they are D9s?

Isn't that the only way to know? Unless there is a program out there that "knows". without taking it off... i'm up for some info :)

a few posts back u can see that someone called buffalotech and they confirmed that the ram has d9 chips

I called up twice and asked both times. Each time the guy said they were Micron D9, and I'll take his word for it. I've heard good things about BuffaloTech when it comes to telling consumers what chips they use.

But if they somehow turn out to not be D9, then I'm with you Glow... all that hard work for nothing :(

These are sooo going to be sold out by the time I can get into the checkout screen. I have no idea why I am ordering them, I dont even have a computer to put em in.....stop posting awesome deals! Really glad I missed the PNY 8800, I would have had one of those on its way too!:D
 
lol like they said earlier easiest, fastest way is to call and order. contacts page has the number.
 
BTW, the Buffalo website seems to be much better now. Lightning fast compared to earlier. It'll probably only take a couple minutes to order a kit now. And if the 2 x 1 GB kit sells out, they have single 1 GB sticks for $60.10, so that's $120.20 if you buy two single sticks separately.

I'm just saying a way to test I mean is there any settings via the bios to run these faster than normal memory that sell for the same speed?

Humm that is odd. I thought they are in California? I got charged sales tax as well and im in CA.

Edit: I emailed them to see what is up.
 
Is it me or did they take all the firestix off the site? I can't find it on a search or by browsing through the inventory. LoL.

Dang. Shows in stock but page disabled. I emailed them and have my fingers crossed. I already got in on the smoking DDR1000 deal a few months ago but would happily grab a set of these for a different build.
