I have the TN panel, a friend of mine has the IPS version.. aside from standing 5" from the monitor and looking from the extreme top or sides, i notice no difference.
I bought the TN because i couldnt justify an additional $250 (at the time) for IPS over TN. I use my monitor for gaming...
The only major issue i had was getting stuck in place coming out of terminals due to high FPS / Gsync apparently. I had to manually limit FPS most times i would use one, or i would always make sure to save before going in.. i found out the hard way when i had to go back 15 minutes the first few...
Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.. I also purchased this monitor, and have no issues what-so-ever. I was quite nervous about spending as much as i did on a monitor that might have issues.. but im glad to report its by far the best monitor i've ever owned and dont regret it a bit!
Yes.. the more i try it at +290 core the more im noticing artifacts. What would be a good number to aim for with my asic and stock voltage? 1400? 1450?
Edit: Ive been running unigine valley for the past hour at these settings (+250/500) with no issues and steady temperature. Would that...
Just picked up a reference Evga 980ti today.. had a few questions on overclocking results and ASIC. Kind of new to this whole thing:
First of all, my ASIC quality is 77.2%. Is that good/bad?
I then did some overclocking to 1518mhz core boost (+290) @ 60% fan speed and 8Ghz memory clock...
So I remember this game from when I was a kid.. Even back then i always liked the game style behind these types of games (Deja-vu, The Uninvited, Shadowgate are the ones that come to mind.)
Anyway, I just noticed that there is a remake of Shadowgate on Steam right now for $2.99. Ive only...
I don't have the proof with me right now to back it up, but I upgraded from a 670 to a 970 after a lot of thought and people telling me (it won't make a big difference) to (it will double your performance). And when you look at the specs it doesn't look like much of an upgrade, but I assure you...
That looks a little more like the "doom" i remember. However i know how nostalgic it is and the feel of the original doom series could never be recreated.
Doom 3 seemed more of a horror-thriller game to me with a vague Doom story line. I wasnt a fan of the whole shadows & monsters gameplay...
Thanks! Great price for that much space. Not too familiar with the 'green drives' other than they are low-power.. but im not concerned about performance, just storage.
Just picked one up. My 1TB WD Black that ive had for over 5 years is finally down to 20gb free.. This should definitely...
And it begins... the 50 expansion packs for Sims 4.
That's one thing that turned me off about the game.. If you didnt keep up with it, you had $120 of expansion content to buy to keep up with all the latest cool items. I guess thats why i wasnt as excited for sims 4 as i was with sims 3...
A friend and i have identical systems (same board, ram, cpu, ssd..etc) and we both did a valley benchmark to compare our cards. He has an MSI gtx770 OC and i have an MSI gtx670 OC overclocked +60 on the core, and +600 on memory (1254mhz core/7204mhz memory) and my card benchmarked higher than...
Well, you have to consider the 670 power edition is really really close to a 680. In-fact a 680GTX is practically just an overclocked 670 with a few more shaders. Your buying a factory overclocked card, and once you bump up the GPU core another 60Mhz and the memory another 5-600Mhz like i...
Overclocking is pretty fool-proof these days. Especially at stock voltage. Bump each until you get stability issues (driver crashes) / artifacts and then drop it just a bit to keep it stable under all conditions.
Perfect guide here for it is you ever consider it in the future. Enjoy the card...
I have the 670 power edition. Its definitely worth the money just for the cooler alone. I have mine overclocked + 60MHz on the core, and +600MHz on the memory at stock voltage (1254 Core / 7200 effective memory) and it never goes above 70c without even adjusting fan settings. Definitely a...
I bought a Intel X25-M 80GB, which was only SATA II in april on 2010 for something like $220 and while I cant imagine paying that today, going from a 1TB WD Caviar black to that, it was an astounding difference. It was enough to made me upgrade from the 80gb to a 256gb samsung 830 SATA 6.0...
Or you could go to sprint... which i have.... and i *hate*....
Sure, unlimited sounds good, until your getting this:
The only thing unlimited about it is the headache of knowing I have 18 months or $350 ETF... the network is *so* over saturated.. and they just keep on adding people...
So that's how they do it in call-of-duty...
Imagine this in a war environment though... it would seriously be true 'wall hacks' ... You wouldnt stand a chance. Of course im sure there is limits to how it works and such, not to mention the portability of it would be near impossible.. but i...
I'm heavily considering jumping on the SSD bandwagon but i'm a bit lost on who has the best drives out there at the moment. Of course I recognize the 'name brands' but does anyone have any first-hand experience as to who has the best performance/reliability for the money right now?
I've done a...
They basically told me at first to check drivers/settings/configuration. After I explained that I tried all the basic stuff before I even contacted them, they approved an RMA for me to check/replace the card.
After reading the numerous posts about problems with XFX 4890s, I decided against the...
While your CPU is a likely factor, i also had the same problem with a much more modern processor. Does your particular card have two 6 pin connectors for power?
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1468964 if you feel like reading.
I purchased the XFX 4890, and i was plagued with low performance. Slower then my then current 8800 GTS 512. Apparently there were a bad batch of these cards going around (multiple search results came up) with the 6 pin power connector version. Sadly I had one of these and returned it for a...
Man.. im glad I didnt hesitate when I got my 5850 for $320, and people then were telling me i was ripped off.. Most places are selling them for $75-$80 more now.
Best graphics card i've ever owned, especially once it's set to the same core/memory clocks as a 5870.
40% isnt that bad, 45 and above is pushing it without headphones though. I do a large majority of my computing with noise canceling headphones on, so it doesnt bother me at all.
As far as the overclock... im still considering on keeping it or not. In the game(s) coughCrysiscough it does...
My most current so far. No stability problems as long as i keep the fan manually controlled. even though the speeds scare me a bit. Temps are staying around 75-78c under load depending on what im doing.
1.2v but i think im going to have to add more or back down the OC. After benching on crysis, im getting lock-ups with blue dots. Going to try your OC and see what it gets me.
Just curious where everyone is at with overclocking on the 5850s. Im not a huge overclocker myself, but I was just trying to get close to 5870 territory. I stopped here and im very happy!
What's everyone else getting?
Yeah, i saw $364 and laughed too.. but then the "in stock" started kicking in and i jumped on it. 5850/5870 is not a huge difference, and it gives me more of a chance to crossfire them easier once prices go down.
I knew they would be out of stock again if I couldnt justify the price. All in...
The reason I asked is because I have a 4890 right now, but its "broken" and being RMA'ed. I was considering jumping back to Nvidia, but considering the 4890 is $200 or less and the 285 is 300+.
I think i'll just RMA my card back to the manufacturer and hope they send me a 4890 that performs...
Im reading conflicting reviews on these two cards. Some say the 4890 blows the 285gtx out of the water. But other places (and people) tell me the opposite.
Has anyone used both of these cards? Trying to decide what I want to go with in the end.
Yeah.. there is definitely something wrong with my particular card then. RMA is in progress right now.
I just put my 8800GTS back in to its Overclock of 750core/1100mem and I ended up with this:
almost 1500 more 3dmarks then the 4890 and i can still play crysis all day long above 30 fps at...
so just for the heck of it, i ran 3dmark06 at default settings with my old 8800GTS 512 (G92) and the new Radeon4890... I know its a terrible benchmark to gauge performance on with these cards.. but its all i had for straight comparison.
The 8800GTS out-performed the 4890!
Also in Crysis...
