My 5820k does 4.3 @ 1.27vcore. Definitely not a great chip, but not horrible either. I haven't tried going further, but I will likely need 1.35 or more to get it stable at 4.4 and I don't feel like going over 1.3. It already gets uncomfortably hot during small FFTs.
I used prime95 for...
I read this as "take the existing difference between a fx8320 and a 4790k and add to that an additional 5-10% for Skylake. Perhaps he could have written it nicer, but he's technically not wrong.
This guy compares the sound of keyboards with MX Blue, MX Brown, and MX Black switches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFkl1Vet1eU
Also, there's a "dampener" that you can buy for any cherry switch which can make even MX Blues make much less noise.
The company responsible for the video...
Started playing this again this week and got my first look at late act 1/act 2. Game looks fantastic and is very addicting. I gave them money way back even before the kickstarter, in the hope that I would eventually get a sequel to Titan Quest. I remember not being very optimistic, but the...
You guys should really consider testing other games besides first person shooters, which are traditionally GPU limited and graphically intensive. I play MMO games (SW:TOR) a lot and I can attest to the SIGNIFICANT improvement in fps and reduction in stuttering that an SSD provided.
I...
For those complaining about eclipse, seriously, try intellij. It's worth the full $200 license price IMO, though they do have a fairly fleshed out free edition for basic java work.
(No I don't work for Jetbrains, just a recovering eclipse user)
Yeah you're right about official forums being bad, but there are occasional gems in there, you just have to deal with a lot of trash. :)
I have a sorc healer myself (imp sage equivalent) at 53. Most of the changes were to resource management there as well, mostly making it easier when using...
Just started playing again myself. Liking the changes and Makeb a lot so far, though I've yet to get to 55.
It's funny that all you read on the official forums is bitching about how much the game changed in 2.0. Well that's exactly what drew me back into the game!
Hope they can improve the character models and/or allow zooming in a scene. I liked what I saw in the environment, but the models seemed not much different from what I remember in icewind dale. If they can give the same level of detail to the models that's in the environment, that would be...
Not quite. As seen in Devman's example, in pass by value, the object pointed to by the reference can not be changed by the callee in a way that is seen by the calling method. In c++, with pass by reference, this is indeed possible. Again, I do not regularly program in c++, apologies...
Java is pass-by-value. The object you create in main is assigned to a REFERENCE variable called lotto. This reference is then passed to a method by value. The object POINTED to by the reference however, can be changed in the method. Confused?
This is true pass-by-reference, which java...
I use version control for all personal projects, even if I'm the only developer and it's a small project. First I was using SVN with Assembla and have recently started learning Git with Github.
Why use a VCS?
1) Free backup
2) Revision history (code without fear, you can always undo a...
1) Haven't had an issue yet really
2) Is high yes, but I'm actually arguing that this is a good thing.
3) This is an issue, if I understand correctly what you mean. Monsters are much bigger in act 4 than other acts. My character occasionally disappears within a large mob. Mallet lords I'm...
I got on and played this weekend for the first time since 1.03, and was pleasantly surprised that (after buying a few upgrades) act IV was not only playable on Inferno, but actually was quite easy.
Also, it was FUN! Act IV is a blast to play. The path from the gardens up to diablo is pretty...
Have 16GB, currently 11.7 GB used. Running intellij, thunderbird, firefox, IE, and a fedora VM with 1GB allocated to it, along with a whole bunch of other crap. I can fire up a game without closing any of these applications. When I actually played Diablo 3 still, I ran it in windowed mode and...
Weirdly enough, I was just thinking about this problem, and the low likelihood of anyone on [H] having the same issue. Lo and behold, I find this post...
This has been happening to me now for over a year, and replacing the mouse did nothing to fix the problem. Also, I think it's slowly...
1000x this. Sums up my thoughts on D3 almost perfectly.
TL2 is not a perfect game. I don't like it as much as D2 and Titan Quest. But its loot system is miles and miles ahead of Diablo 3's.
I have issues with the story, graphics and skill systems in TL2, none of which are memorable at...
Love these browser discussions. There are some pretty religious defenders out there for their particular browser. Including myself probably. I've given all the browsers a try, and always wind up back at firefox for whatever reason.
Chrome is great, but the task manager process spam...
Played 3 hours, nothing dropped. I definitely noticed the fourfold increase in drops from trash mobs. But quantity != quality. In fact I may just not pick up blues anymore. Too many town trips now.
My witch doctor VQ zombie bear build's mana regen was significantly nerfed. I can no...
I am in the exact same situation as the OP. I want a current gen, 1080p, IPS laptop with a quad core and at least 8 GB of ram. Short answer is there aren't any for under 1500 that fully satisfy me. I'm currently considering 2 options:
HP Envy 15.6:
$1100 amazon
IPS 1080p screen
quad i7...
We use intellij. I used to be a big eclipse fan, but the biggest points for intellij is the fact that everything just "works" right out of the box. Subversion, Maven, ANT, everything is autodetected and configured. Eclipse always required 30-60 minutes of "setup" for a fresh install because...
Titan Quest (2006) looks better than this... Not even a zoom so I can see my character and monsters up close? :o
The shader which darkens and sharpens did help a lot, but I'm still finding lots to dislike. With that said, I will probably buy it anyways. It is only a beta, I'm seeing...
Well that may be true. Sucks though that pretty much every site uses flash, either videos or flash ads. I downloaded flashblock to help, but it just seems to prolong the time it takes before a restart is needed.
This may not be the same issue, but I have always noticed a memory leak in Firefox relating to flash videos. They will play fine for awhile, but eventually, if you leave the site open, firefox reaches astronomical (1-2GB) memory usage and the flash video will "hiccup" every few seconds...
Along the same lines as the superfetch comment... You can do your own version of superfetch, start the applications you use regularly and leave them running in the background. With 16GB of ram, you should never need to click that close button! I only have 8GB, and run eclipse, firefox, gimp...
My overclocked i7 machine has been running 24/7 for most of the past 6 years. I have another machine, a linux server which has been running 24/7 since 2003, still with the original hard disk. Some of the other hardware was replaced in 2008 (CPU, memory, mainboard).
