Zotac 8800GTS 320mb for $88 shipped

Wow, with this maybe I can finally convince my friend to upgrade from his AMD XP 1500+

wow, thats sounds tempting, my mates wants to buy my 8600GTS for $100...w00t $12 profit

Could I SLi this with a PNY 8800GTS 320mb?

Yes, but SLI with 8800GTS 320MBs is pretty much pointless and defeats the whole purpose of SLI. If you try to run moderately high to high resolutions and much if any AA it will run out of video memory and start paging to RAM, which will leave the game stuttering horribly. Don't waste your money.

I bit... been looking for a GPU for a 2nd machine I've been putting together. This is a screaming deal!

i guess this is a better value then a $230 8800gts g92 version then?

Not really. The 8800 GTS 512MB is a /far/ faster card (on the level with an 8800 GTX at all but the highest resolutions). If you want a really solid card for low resolution gaming (under 1600x1200) and are willing to drop settings occasionally this is probably the best you can do for this price, but if you're looking for a high end card that can handle 1600x1200 to 1920x1200 (in most titles) the 8800 GTS 512MB is a far better choice. The 8800 GTS 320MB begins to choke in modern titles around 1600x1200 due to lack of video memory.

Maybe dumb question but good upgrade from 7900GS?

yes good upgrade. very good. and i still think that most people game at 1280x1024 if i am not mistaken, which this card should be just fine for. I mean come on...88 bucks. :D Nothing out there at this price range that can beat it.

in for one. Was gonna get an 8500gt for my HTPC but for $88 why not.

Ordered one for the GF's new computer. Should be a very decent for her, since she does not play games.

silent-circuit apparently hates the GTS 320 lol

No, I do not "hate the GTS 320MB". It's a very good card for $88, but /only/ if you're running 1440x900/1280x1024 or lower. At 1680x1050 it will start to be ROP and memory limited... and paging to RAM will make pretty much any modern title frustrating to unplayable due to hitching. SLI with 8800 GTS 320MBs just furthers the memory issue, as the contents of memory on both cards is more or less mirrored, and there's some overhead for SLI as well, so you're effectively losing usable memory, not doubling it as most would think.

i wonder if 2 in sli will out perform a single 8800gt because they're pretty much the same price.

SLI shows pretty much zero usable performance increase at low resolution. A single 8800 GTS 320MB gets you 60+ FPS at 1280x1024 and below in most titles, so who cares if SLI 8800 GTS 320MBs get you 90+ FPS (and that'd be a very, very good boost for SLI, percentage wise), as you'll see no difference.

SLI is meant to make the difference up above the range where a single high end card is an option. A single 8800 GTS 512MB, 9800 GTX, or 8800 GTX isn't always enough at the native resolution of a 24" or 30" LCD, but there are no more powerful single GPU options out there. Add a second card, and you're alright again, though sometimes just barely so.

If you're considering getting 2 of these (especially if you don't have a SLI capable motherboard already) and are running any resolution higher than 1440x900 or 1280x1024 I'd strongly recommend that you just save up another $30-40 and get an 8800 GTS 512MB instead. It will be substantially faster than the 8800 GTS 320MBs in SLI, much less problematic -- avoiding Nvidia chipsets, which are not as stable, for one, and SLI profiles/compatibility issues with games, for another -- and draw less power while making less noise. If you're running the above stated resolutions or lower, a single 8800 GTS 320MB will be plenty for at least the next 6-8 months from what I have seen, maybe longer, in everything but Crysis.... which isn't worth spending $50 on hardware to play, much less $200+. Don't worry about it.

It's worth noting here than I speak from experience; I have a pair of 8800 GTX in SLI running a 1920x1200 24" LCD. I built a machine for a friend with an 8800 GTS 320MB (with a 17" LCD) about a year ago. Built another machine for a friend with an 8800 GTS 512MB (with a 21" CRT, which was replaced by a 24" LCD soon after) about 3 months ago. I'm not claiming to be a pro, but I do a lot of stuff with this, and I have experience with all the hardware I'm talking about here.

just saying the posted reviews on this card look a whole lot better than what you're saying... This card has been shown to be more than adequate at 1680x1050 from what I've seen

Also showed excellent performance in sli...

I want to make clear that I run 2 8800 gtxs in sli and would never consider using one of these forms primary rig, but these really are decent cards and I feel your statements about their worth is a little off, that's all :)

And if you can find an 8800GTS 512mb for $130 then please link us, because is pretty hot.

8800GTS 320MB in sli isn't that bad an option when it can be done for <$200 (~the same as a single 8800GTS 512MB).

He was comparing a pair of these 8800GTS 320MB cards to a single 8800GTS 512MB, which is $220 on the same site. You can even get an 8800GTX 768MB for only $238 shipped.

Well I see they are out of stock now. Glad I ordered one yesterday. Should be a nice up-grade from my 7900 GS.

Just was checking the web site again and see it's now listed for $99.99. And back in stock.

Still a good deal, and better than any sub-8800 series card for the price if your not going HTPC (no next-gen hi-def video processor.)

And even if you are, chances are your big ass bulky thermal eating rust producting global warming inducing dual core or better processor can handle it.

Well got e-mail from them today with tracking number. Still to early for tracking info for delivery date, but I'm also in Calif so it should get delivered in a couple of days. Cool ...

well there back in stock at $99 bucks, funny how they go out of stock then Miraculous in stock in less than 24 hrs at 20 bucks more...

You mean $11 more. It was at $88 before, now $99. Difference of only $11.

A $20 difference is right. It was $80 + $8 shipping, now it's $100 + $8 shipping.
