Hey guys just creating this post In case any of you are planning on buying a video card from zipzoomfly. I bought a Video card from them A BFG GeForce GTX 295 2.0v a little over 20 days ago and loved the hell out of it. I wanted to check the temps it was pulling while at full load running some games and it never passed 45+ celsius, so I loaded furmark and it ran for maybe 2 minutes and the temps climbed to 82c then a full system shut down occured. I went and did the basic trouble shooting stuff re-seat reload bios defaults and nothing helped even tried a different set of 6+8pin and nothing just a twitch from the fans. Installed my original 8800GT Sli and every thing ran great. So I REquested an RMA From Zipzoomfly.com, the day after they recieved it they gave me a call saying that I tampered with the card because a little clip that held the decrative cover on was broken. I asked the person on the phone how that had anything to do with the card not booting and the only thing she said was "Oh and there was a burnt chip and some melted plastic", Which was not visable when I sent the card in.
So just something for you guys to think about before buying from zipzoomfly. If you accidently weaken or break a plastic clip it will void your warranty at least in my case it does.

You can RMA the card to BFG directly and get your card back from ZZF right?

And yes, I do not purchase from anyone except Amazon.com if I can help it. Here's to spreading Amazon goodness for their Customer Service...

I prefer newegg, they took care of me really good when I had to rma my 5970. I will never buy from zzf again, they screwed me over twice!

I ordered an OCZ SSD from ZZF via ebay on a holiday weekend that had a tight rebate window (ended the next day IIRC). I sent in the correct rebate for that day without noticing they issued me an invoice for 4 days later.

Rebate came back with incorrect date later and said I could resubmit with proper invoice.

ZZF absolutely would not issue a correct invoice with my proper order date/time and stuck to their invoice date as correct. Yeah, like every other internet shop in existence does that to me, list my order date from a Friday afternoon as a Tuesday morning. :S I asked for simply a $30 refund if they could not issue me a CORRECT invoice. They said I should send in the rebate for the Monday order date instead. I couldn't do that as both rebate windows were long expired by this point. They absolutely would not give me an invoice showing my proper order date nor issue me a $30 refund. It seemed ridiculous.

I attempted to file a paypal dispute to get the $30 rebate back but that failed too. I simply won't deal with ZZF any more. First rebate I'd be boned out of in ages.

Guess it's what I get for ordering from someplace that's not Newegg or Amazon.

Twice eh? I am never that forgiving lol... fool me once....

Yeah I am still waiting for them to ship the card back so I can see what BFG has to say about it. I always shop newegg but the card was out of stock when I ordered so I tried ZZF, I hate waiting so I gave them a shot. I emailed Steve about it and he recommended a charge back sounded like a good idea so I'm waiting to see how that pans out. I'd rather have an EVGA but I went the slightly cheaper route which was BFG at the time.

Thanks for reading the post guys.

Thanks for letting us know zzf is not truth worthy on returns. ill never order from them, or anyone who doesnt treat customers like they should.

I gave up on ZZF a long time ago, when I ordered an 8800GT from them and they delivered it to the wrong address, then charged me a restocking fee and never refunded it...

Isn't that why they change their name every few years? They can trap some new people with their bad service.

I like Amazon because of Prime, but they will actually close your account if you do enough returns. They gave me a warning because my account looked like it had a lot of returns, but in reality it was just that some things got canceled because of price mistakes.

I've always had real good luck with ZZF.

Don't know why they would care anyway as manufacturers always take returns, especially ones like BFG who gives lifetime warranties.

Maybe they thought you burnt it up on purpose.. did you ask for a replacement or a refund?

Thanks for this. That's why only order from Amazon, except today I ordered G.Skill memory from Newegg because Amazon doesn't carry them.

Same here. Only time I had an issue it was a DOA motherboard and they gave me and RMA immediately and sent me a new board once mine got there. Same as Newegg.

I have heard horror stories about all three so..........you take your chances with any of them is how I feel.

Yeah, heard a lot of horror stories about ZZF. TigerDirect is just as terrible. Newegg and FrozenCPU have spoiled me - they're so much better!

82c should not have caused a system shutdown or done any damage at all to a GTX295. This doesn't relate to ZZF at all but...you need to be really careful and check out your power supply. It may have damaged your 295 and your other components could be at risk too.

ZZF is an odd beast. When it was Googlegear, it was right up there with NewEgg in terms of price, service, and actually had a leg up because of the free 2-day shipping.

When the name changed, so did the service. It wasn't horrid, but something definitely felt different with the interaction with customer service reps.

It was about this time that NewEgg's once-forgiving RMA policy changed and a restock fee was put into effect, and then I noticed ZZF's service really fall. It may have bee weariness from "enthusiasts" milking the RMA game for all it was worth, or perhaps a change in management brought a change in attitude.

I stick to NewEgg or Amazon these days. NewEgg kinda got my ire up when they had just about every mobo marked as replacement only, no refunds. Guess it makes research a lot more critical before buying...

Amazon sucks, they charge tax in Washington. :( Now if they would just move their headquarters...

I hate that crap. when it says that I move on to an other site and see if they have it that and also do refunds.

blame your state.. not the company..

its the opposite here in california.. newegg charges tax but amazon doesnt..

I just bought a new Enermax PSU Liberty ECO 650 I believe it was 650. I know its recommended to have a 680 and 36A if im correct and this psu has 46A but it ran fine as it was I seen perfect volt read outs no volt drop or shut down just the video card issue. I was baffled when they said it was melted and a burnt chip because I removed it immediately and it was cool to the touch and no smell of plastic or silicon.

never had a problem with ZZF. Probably because I don't order anything from them ;)

RMA with the manufacturer, not the retailer. Your card will probably be sold open box to some poor sap.

I don't feel sorry for any of you. It is so well documented all over the net that ZZF sucks balls that you should have known better. And for those who say they never had a problem, you are playing with fire! You're time will come.

Shitty deal dude. You didn't tamper with the heatsink or anything, right? If you did then they're in the right, since it was altered. More than likely BFG would RMA it if you send it to them.

I usually stick with newegg for any computer hardware purchases, they're always pretty lenient when it comes to returns and great customer service. A recent example is that we ordered 8 Xeon W3550s ($600 CPUs), and even though their policy on CPU returns is no refunds (only replacements), they were kind enough to give us store credit.

I wouldn't order from them. It's newegg or amazon only for me. F the rest.

Ditto on Amazon...AWESOME customer service, and the Prime 2 day shipping pays itself back 10 fold if you are an online-orderin-maniac like I am...

Esp if you happen to order any items that weigh a lot. I bought my Makita router recently and it wasn't very light, but thanks to prime it was shipped free :) The prepaid return shipping label for returns is a great touch as well!

Seriously? I guess I would have thought you guys have built enough PC's to know better than to not make sure if the motherboard you are ordering is the correct one.

I don't blame them at all with the RMA policies they have nowadays... You got guys doing stuff like duct taping the shit out of a 8800 GTX and melting it down and then doing an RMA on it. Abuse of the system.. eventually the system will change and the people like the OP are considered at fault on RMA's that are actually legit.

Yeah...even my Thermaltake Armor+ case shipped FREE! I couldn't believe they let me do that. That wouldn't have been cheap...the box was HUGE!

Picking the wrong board isn't the only situation that can be affected by their policy. Many times, rather than waiting on a full RMA turnaround for a DOA board - I'll pick one up locally, and return the dead one to the e-tailer for a refund. I can't be out a computer for 10 or so days.

I know what I order. but I may not like it or something is wrong with it that leads me to not like it or want it anymore.

ZipZoomFly and Performance-PCS are on my do not buy from list. I have had both of them refuse a doa and nothing was broken or abused on the items. They just stated: return them to the manufacture. When they are only 1 day old and defective I want my money or a new part. So from now on its NewEgg on every thing. Or buy from Micro Center in person, That way I can go shove the bad parts up someones a------.

Yeah ZZF definitely sucks.

I have had nothing but EXCELLENT customer service from Newegg, I got a bad power supply from them, and was in a bit of a situation as I needed that machine running THAT DAY, so the longer I had to wait for the replacement, the more of a problem I would have.

They offered (after a bit of me stressing that it was a problem) to ship me a replacement PSU, overnight, then I would put the bad one back in the box and hand it back to the delivery guy.

And that wasnt the first great experience I had with them from a customer service standpoint.

ZZF will screw you in the butt gentlemen. They will do it royally every time with zero lube.

It's moments like those that make me glad I paid for prime. The icing on the cake is you can designate family members for it as well.

When you see this under a picture of a product listing - "Image shown for display purposes" on ZZF's website...All I'll say is be careful.

What you buy isn't always what you get. I was past the BBB complaints with both XFX and ZZF and on my way to small claims court before they acquiesced...and by some miracle...they sent me the actual product I purchased.

It was XFX who finally responded...ZZF did nothing.

Best,

Liquid Cool

ZZF is a notoriously bad company, I've only experienced and heard bad things. As someone mentioned, some people really vouched for them when they used to be named Google Gear or whatever.

In my book they rank worse than Tigerdirect, as at least TD has begun to step up these past few years. In the same time ZZF has only gone into a steady decline.

Don't blame Newegg blame everyone who RMAd stuff because they couldn't get the overclock they wanted then returned a perfectly good peice of hardware.....
It sucks that the ignorant sometimes mess things up for the people who really need to return something for a reason other that "OMG I can't get a the FSB to run stable at 700MHz I need to RMA it!"
