I would be saving 45 bucks if I buy from zipzoomfly rather than newegg but newegg has amazing service and online/phone support that from experience is good. I never tried zipzoomfly but should I give it a chance? I dont want to buy stuff from them if they are a lazy, slacking company. What all of ya'll experience from them and has anyone received wrong, defective or missing parts from them? If so how have they handled this? Thanks for all the help BTW in helping me chose the parts. Once I build it and test it, I will certainly post pics and reviews here. Ofcourse I would be using the same tests that the top review places aka hardocp use. Once I learn it though! :)

edit: also whats the turn around time for processing and delivery? If I order at 8AM on a thursday, will they (zip zoom fly) ship the same day? From newegg, I was told everything except the case i get from them will be shipped out same day with a 3$ fee and receive it the next day via ground since they are shipping it from jersey and im in new york. Where are zipzoomfly shipping the parts from and how the turn around time? A lot of questions I know but i can be that way when I am spending the money upfront which thankfully the people here convinced me is the best option.

I heard they were pretty good. Infact, when something of mine sells I am going to buy a part from them as well as some from Newegg at the same time. I'd like to know ZipZoomFly's support though as well. :)

i've had nothing but great experiences from the two companies you mentioned. i wouldn't hesitate going with either one.

yea usually when good things happen, you get good feeling. However I want to see how they handle the things that go wrong as well. After all they have no way of contact other than a local telephone number and email which as we all know, take a long time to respond cause of being in queue! To me for a company that sells high end stuff, they should have a toll free number at least. But the fact thast people have bought from them and they are happy shows that they are not a bad company from that angle. There is still others that might need clearing up.

I'm gonna guess ZZF is a smaller operation than Newegg.

Personally, I buy from both whoever sells me what I want for the least. One notable exception is I exclusively buy HDDs from ZZF (unless there is some earth shattering rebate at Newegg), because of the superb way they pack the drives for shipping. I've bought many things from ZZF (ever since they were googlegear.com) never had a problem, and they have excellent shipping rates for second day air, and free if your in no hurry and get it via ground.

anyway thats my .02.

ok im getting the case, psu, cpu, mobo, ram from ZZF and the hdd and dvdrw from newegg. Why those 2 items form newegg, cause its saving me 25 dollars  . Now you said they pack the hdd well. How does newegg pack these hdds?

If you search the forums about Neweggs packing of HDDs, you'll see it runs the gamut from terrible to excellent, I personally got a drive once in just an ESD bag and thrown in a sea of packing peanuts, and have never bought a drive from them since because of it. I wouldn't go so far as to claim thats there standard operating procedure, but I wasn't happy.

they do know hdds are delicate stuff here, right? Newegg really does that? Pop the hdd in a AS bag and some peanuts in a box and off you go. Geez! Those peanuts better be made of super special polymer material ro something! Newegg, really? I've had ebayers ship out better than that!

Results may not be typical, I have all the respect in the world for newegg, and I don't wanna get flamed for spreading FUD here, so I'll let some other [H] members weigh in on it.

I've only bought one hard drive from Newegg. (Actually, that's the only hard drive I've bought online for that matter.) It was put in an anti static bag and wrapped around a few times with several layers of bubble wrap. Then that was put in a box with peanuts in it.

For me, that was acceptable as I live in NJ and the warehouse they were shipping from was right near my college. So I had it in my possession the very next day. I can't imagine it should be any different for you in NY, but then again that was my only experience with a hard drive purchase.

I will say that I do not hesitate to buy from Newegg even though I get hit with sales tax being in NJ. The one time I had to RMA my video card, I was glad I had bought from Newegg as the process was rather painless and pretty quick! The only other times I buy elsewhere are because Newegg was out of stock, or I would save a large amount. Those were the few times I bought from Zipzoomfly. Don't get me wrong, I had good experience with them as well, but it's just that nice bit of comfort that I get from Newegg in case something happens. Add to the fact that one of their facilities is local to me, so my packages usually come very quickly! :D

Just my $.02. Hope that helps.

i buy everything from newegg just because when the one time i ordered from someone else it was zzf and guess what my 2 day free shipping ( found out later it was fedex) took like 8 days.. and it was monday when i ordered my product i got it like monday of the next week i was freaking angry

fed ex sucks but damn zzf .. dont offer free 2 day shipping if its gay

8 days to get your item. You see thats the issue here too. The turn around time. I need my item no later than monday. So I guess ima have to go with newegg on this one. Sux though that I have to pay a lot more money to get what I want. Raidmax case is out of the question as people here said, its not a good case to get. So I wont get it. However I was eyeing this case and PSU combo deal on newegg

COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power RP-650-PCAR ATX from factor 12V V2.01 650W Power Supply - Retail
Item #: N82E16817171014
Return Policy: Standard Return Policy

COOLER MASTER Centurion 532 RC-532-SKN1 Black Aluminum bezel, SECC chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail
Item #: N82E16811119094

is this an equal too or better combo than the same case above but with a 620w
crosair 620hx psu. Now one totals to 220 and the one in red above totals 130.

Don't get sucked in on PSU/Case combo's, You will rarely ever find one where the PSU is worth anything. As for that coolermaster combo I can't speak to the quality of it good or bad, so I won't. I will, however, say that the Corsair PSUs (520/620) are excellent products and very much worth the money. I'd focus on getting a case you like, and a solid PSU, rather than trying to save by combining them.

well i was set on buying the 620w but i thought that coolermaster cases and psus were good and some very good so why not go with it. Especially if I save on the price. Now since im just gonna go with newegg cause i need the system asap, I will have to change the raidmax case but the only reason why I changed the psu was cause its 170 at newegg and only 145 at zzf. Freakin ZZF should use UPS. WHY FEDEX>>>WHY? Im tired of delaying this and all the while really im only delaying cause im trying to find a case thats less expensive this way it can fit into my budget but at the same time I need it to

Have proper room to add 2 - 4 sticks ram, 3 (2 sata raid) hdds, 2 dvdrw,, some fans to keep cool and 2 video cards for SLI.

Oh and it must look nice and not cheap. All this pickyness and im running out of time. I have until 11:30 am tops to buy this system. Otherwise I lose the chance of receiving it on friday and will have to wait until monday or even tuesday :(. Anyone have a rubber mallet I can use to beat myself up with?

Buying hdds from Newegg... The drives I buy, the Seagates, are always in the little plastic case, which is then surrounded by probably 2 inches of bubble wrap, thrown in a sea of styrofoam.

Honestly, I don't feel they could do a better job. Though the Mushkin method of packaging ram in suspension is pretty damn cool.

I bounce between them, both are probally the best "biggies" atm. Good service from both, newegg a tad faster for me. I am on east coast up in mountains of NC

The packaging experiences are interesting, I too have noticed it has varied a lot over time and can range from "wow that could survive anything" to hmmm, I would have done it better. Both places have done at least an acceptable job, have to give newegg an edge on packing but have not bought anything in last couple of months.

Only trouble I have had is with cheap cases where the manuf skipped on the internal packing. Thin styrofoam. Had a couple that had been dropped on the corner and the case was bent. Since my son works for UPS in the Raleigh distribution center loading trucks, I blamed him. He tells me that there is a place in the conveyor sorting system where stuff does about a 3 ft vertical fall onto another conveyor, if your stuff is at the bottom of the "dump" and a load of 50 "slim-0-matic" 80lb exercise machines headed for the same zip code land on top of it, there better be a lotta peanuts in there.

LMAO. Wow 3 ft fall? What if you have 20,000 dollar china? I guess your screwed lol. Anyways im going with newegg since its faster. Ill do ZZF another time when I need another item since some of the stuff they have are pretty good and pretty cheap.

Why pay retail when you can pay ETAIL!

No matter how well it looks like they did I wouldn't buy HDD from NE. I always buy OEM from ZZF. Everything else? Pretty much NE or whoever has it cheaper. Same price? NE.

You just can't get better service than NE. PERIOD>

Newegg tried to tell me I used Paypal on my last order and after several days I was still on Step 1. I most certainly did not but rather the standard credit card check out. I canceled the order and will probably use ZZF for everything else as the prices rose about $30 bucks at the Egg due to dynamic pricing FTL.

wake me when my card gets charged

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I've bought OEM HDs from NewEgg ranging from a QTY of 1 to 10 depending on the need. Each time they're packed in a AS bag or plastic box, then wrapped in bubble wrap, and placed in a decent sized box with peanuts. I've only had one DOA drive, and I'm assuming that was manufacturer not NewEgg.

Both places are the only places I would buy components from.

+1 for NewEgg and ZZF.

I have good news and bad news

the good news is they charged my card

the bad news: THEY CHARGED MY CARD

ok the real bad news is i will not receive the case until earliest tuesday. That leaves me with parts coming tomorrow and no case for 4 days. Oh and im sure i should have asked this earlier but meh. Anyways does the retail cpu come with everything I need? like say thermal paste and such?

Retail CPU should come with a heat sink, warranty, sticker, and paste or thermal pad attached to the heat sink.
