I have a several year old Zippy 700w psu that I've used in my rig for a while now. This is the exact model:

http://store.myaopen.com/zipps70brpow.html

I sleeved it and swapped out the single 80mm fan with 2x silent ones that put out just as much air.

I went down to microcenter the other day and bought 2x EVGA GTX 260 Core 16 (65nm) with the intention of stepping up to the GTX 285's within a week or two. The only thing was, everyone is recommending a minimum 750w psu with 50A on the 12v line for GTX 260 SLI. I decided that I'd give it a try and see what happens. If it blows, it blows and I'll just grab their 850w unit, which has 60a on the 12v line.

This is my system at present:

Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 4ghz 1.475v
EVGA 750i SLI FTW
4GB Corsair Dominator @ 1066mhz 2.2v
2x EVGA GTX 260 Core 16 (65nm) overclocked to 700/1250
6x 120mm fans
2x 92mm fans
2x 80mm fans
DVD-RW
Coolermaster Aerogate II
Raptor 150GB
2x 500GB SATA

I decided to load the system by running Orthos on the "small FFT" setting to stress the CPU while running Crysis at 2560x1600 on all very high settings. Of course, it ran like shit.

While that was running, I grabbed my fluke multimeter and hooked it up to the zippy to get a voltage readout. In windows with nothing running, the 12v line reads 12.09. With Orthos and crysis running, it reads 12.08. That's not even .02 droop under full load.

In conclusion, Zippy kicks ass and a GOOD 700w psu with a mere 45a on the 12v line can handle GTX 260 core 16 sli with no problem whatsover. The air coming out of the back of the psu is lukewarm at best, and the case is cool to the touch on both sides.

Next up, GTX 285 SLI. Somehow though, I have a feeling it won't be a problem.

Zippy is a great brand. Although they arent quite well known they make some damn solid PSUs even if their name sounds absolutely ridiculous. They have nice sales guys too :)

That's part of the reason I posted it here - running a search showed that they haven't even been mentioned a single time in months. Yes, their fan is loud but a simple fan swap can get you a PSU that is beyond top of the line.

They cost too damn much -- there are a lot of less expensive options that're just as high quality and higher rated for less anymore. Sure, there are die-hard fans that will have nothing else, but for most of us...

That's why I haven't mentioned them in quite a while. They're harder to find and more expensive than many, many alternatives.

That's not saying they aren't great supplies -- they certainly are.

Perfect example -- you can get a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad for $110, $70 AR at Newegg right now, and it's higher rated, Seasonic built, 5 year warranty. Less than 1/3rd of the cost of the Zippy unit.
