I'm waiting for someone to come out with a 37" widescreen LCD with IBM T221 resolution (3840x2400). :D Oh yea, and a video card to drive it smoothly...

Whats your dream display?

LOL that would be the one! ;)

No wait....no thats not my dream display. My dream display would be a holographic projector that would project multiple monitor screens that you can position in 3d space all around you. And that you can resize at will at any resolution. It would destroy the entire tv/monitor industry but it would be for the better! :D
And if you steal my idea and invent it I will thank you from the bottom of my heart..........then proceed to have my squad of ninja attack lawyers sue you to death. :p

wouldn't mind something with 300 DPI resolution, the color range and response time of a CRT and the weight and power consumption of an LCD.

Mine would be a projector with 5000 lumens, the ability to run on a battery, and the resolution that homedude above said, with the IQ of DLP + LCD color quality.

If they release an SED with 3840x2400 resolution and a screen size 24" to 37" I would buy it! 3840x2400 is the perfect resolution right now since you can easily scale to 1080p and 720p.

...What kind of a graphic card(s) would it take to power that?
You will also probably have to spend $1000 on 1900XTXs in crossfire just to get playable Frame rates...

What about an LCD with mad high res that uses that HDR technology that's being developed?

mine would be 7500 lumens, 5000 to 1 contrast. Be about 5 pounds. DLP for smoother video performance..

Yeahhhhh.. i can dream =D

Short term? Sony FW900 24" CRT... but it won't happen because I just got a new monitor.

Long term, probably a SED display around mid 20". CRT performance in an LCD package? Count me in.

1920x1080 Projector with about 4,000 lumens with an Iris for a great contrast ratio of like 20,000:1 that doesn't have rainbows like DLP.

Realistically, a 27-32" monitor, 1920x1200, 2560x1600, or 3840x2400, <1 ms response time, true contrast ratio > 10,000:1, no input lag, full complement of inputs (2 HDMI, 1 DVI, 1 VGA, 2 component, 1 S-Video, 1 RCA), a thin bezel, an internal power supply, and a box that feeds all connections to the monitor (incluyding power) so that only 1 cable needs to go to the monitor.
