Anyone else seen this, or have any ideas?

Q6600 @ 3.2
Windows 2003 R2 x64 server
8800GT / 256MB with everything at stock except shaders at 1900

FAHMon PPD 3278

Right now I'm not running any other clients. I was about to install VMWare to get a couple of linux vms running, but I'm a bit concerned that everyone is seeing higher numbers for this card.

Is it a server 2003 thing? I'm using the 175.16 drivers.

I did have a win smp client running, but it just seems to run real slow. Like it really didn't like the GPU client taking one whole cpu. I set the GPU client to lock to a single core, and to run at a slightly higher priority. It's like it the SMP client just sits waiting to eventually get scheduled on this CPU. That's why I want to move to VMWare, just so I can set affinities without having to re do it every time the client loads a new WU.

Anyone have any thoughts on something I'm missing, or does it just sound like a server 2003R2 scheduling thing?

Thx. Trying it now. I went to their site to get the latest drivers, and it gave me the WHQL drivers. Didn't realize there were beta ones out there. Grabbing the 177.35's now.

That seems low.

My 8800GT with shaders at 1700 is producing close to 4800PPD.
F@H Mon says about 4900 usually, and it completes each frame in about 1 min. 24 seconds, or each work unit in about 2hours, 22 minutes.

My other stats are:
e8400 @3.85Ghz
WinXP Home SP3
8800GT @ 650/1700/950
177.35 drivers - I think, I'm not home to confirm.

Maybe you're overclocked too (1900 seems high) far & its erroring and going in to safety mode. (not using assemby language, etc..)

It's running a bit better now. 1900 shaders putting out 5200PPD with the 177.35 drivers. running at 58C. Not bad considering the 80F ambient temp down here.

Maybe next time I should pay attention to the GPU FAQ that everyone spent the time to put together.

Thanks

Good PPD and good temps there. Glad you got it worked out.

nice card, what project was that?

my Asus GT 256mb wont hit pass 1800 on shader oc:(

Both my 9800GTX's run at 725/1950/1111.
I've forgot who made them, they just where the cheapest in stock at the time.
I'm hopeing the next 4 overclock as well.

Luck ..................... :D

It's project 5218.

It's the gigabyte 8800GT that newegg had on special and tedkj was giving out. I'm a bit shocked that the shaders ran that high without that much effort. It comes with a decent sized zalman HSF on the card... That might help.
