Well it doesn't really feel like a year ago that I began folding for the [H]orde. But I'll be damned if today isn't my 1 year anniversary! 5.4 million points in a year - that ain't half bad! Funny too, I remember starting out, at first not even keeping track or being on a team. Back then I was folding on my good ol' socket A POS. Then I discovered GPU folding, (on my 8800 GTS that I had had for at least a year) and that changed everything. Suddenly I went from maybe a few 100 points day, to about 4,000 per day. This made we want to join-up and started climbing the ranks, which I did indeed. Soon thereafter, I got my GTX 260 and was kickin' out about (gasp!) 12,000 points per day. This was .... good, and bad. Because it was what started the full fledged addiction!! :) A few months later I had a few fellow [H]orde members nipping at my tale. Well, I couldn't have that! - So another GTX 260 found its way into my home (on the wife's computer since mine didn't have an available PCI-E slot or enough juice from the Power supply). Soon after that, I discovered the Notfred VM machine and am running that on my Q9400 (O/C'ed tp 3.8 Ghz). (The fairly recent new WU's absolutely suck ass in this regard. I threaten to stop them, but.. who'm I kiddin'!)

So, in closing - its been a hell of a first year. I've lurked here a great deal and learned a lot. Rock on my [H]orde brothers and sisters!!! Oh and .. watch your asses .... I'm coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Very nice, good to see some of the lurkers come out of hiding. 5 mil is no small feat! Were glad to have you here in the organized chaos of the DC sub-forum

Side note about the VM's, you try the new 4core 1 VM setup you can do with the new player? Should help level out your PPD issues and will only help your system out!

New 4 core 1 VM setup??? (perk!) I thought the free player only did 2 cores max per instance? Actually I don't mind running 2 VM's at all. It's just before the new WU's I was getting about 3,300 PPD per instance, and now it's about 2,100 PPD per instance. It's just hard to go back down in points after you've gotten spoiled / used to a certain amount for so long.

Newest free player has 4 core support.:D Check Vaulter98c's thread on that. :)

The advantage is more efficient memory usage / no thread overlap (if that makes any sense...)

Hey Jish.

I just upped to the 4 core version tonight. I don't see much of a difference in ppd at all.

If you keep rocking at this rate I'll get to give ya your pimp hat soon

I thought it was more awesome:)

Otherwise, it is easier to manage just one VM program. (just slightly...)

It's cool to read how your first year started, and remembering how the addiction grabbed each of us. :D Glad to see you around, and nice to hear how you're expanding your resources. Fold [H]ard!!!

5+ million points in a year is a great accomplishment. Nice going Jish! Fold on!

Congrats and keep it up. You are one of about 2-3 that show on my threat list.

At our pace that in itself is an accomplishment.

That is pretty similar to my first year.
July 3, 2008, first WU completed by a P4 with Hyperthreading running notfred
within a week or 2 I had an 8800m GTS in my laptop folding
borged my brothers 8800GT but it never ran 24/7
added a 9600 GSO to my gf's computer and borged it(she knew what borg meant in the ST sense)
built my current rig about April and added 2 more cards over the summer.
brother's borg will run most of the time this winter now that his wife is convinced it makes heat from the power used.
if I can get everything stable we are looking at about 20k ppd

That first year is definitely a cool milestone. My first year I only put out 2 million so 5 is definitely pretty good.
