XP key on bottom of laptop not working

i dont understand whats going on here... i have a toshiba 6100 laptop that has a xp key sticker on the bottom of it, i put it in when im doing the install and it says its an invalid key?

what the heck, i thought it was a good key do i need to call microsoft or something?

That key should be OEM, your using an OEM CD?

well i took my retail cd, made an iso and changed the setupp.ini to make it a OEM cd

I wouldn't put very much faith in something that's allegedly going to change a retail CD to an OEM CD. If you have a retail CD, use that (assuming you have a license for it). If you need an OEM disc for the Toshiba laptop, call Toshiba and request one. Tell them you have the key, you just need the media.

thats prolly it dude... i might have to call them or maybe ill just keep using the corp version i have on here... even though i have 2 legit keys its a real pain in the ass this stuff is.

so its Activation and not Install thats having the problem?
ie you get through installing the OS, but cant activate?
