So I'm trying to resolve a problem with XFX double lifetime warranty after someone bought a card from me via FSFT.

Does anybody know a way I can contact the [H] XFX rep? I PMed, but the rep seems to not have been online for the past couple of weeks.

that's the reason why i stay from XFX = Xtremely Fustrating Xperience
EVGA for me...

What is the issue with the trade?

I have read plenty of horror stories from EVGA as well.

The issue is the card won't POST anymore. However, the card has an aftermarket cooler (which does not void the warranty), but we don't have the original one anymore & thus need to talk to someone to figure out whether we can send the card with the aftermarket cooler, or without cooler, or what's going on.

Yea my xfx 6990 has stickers over the backplate screws that void the warranty if removed. Pretty fucking ghey if you ask me, especially since aftermarket coolers are 3000% more efficient than their stock shit. But from what I read on the web, if your in North America the voiding stickers dont apply.

they're gonna say that the aftermarket cooler killed the card.

This may be the case for the 6990 and newer cards, but as of the time I bought the card (8800), using an aftermarket cooler did NOT void warranty. This is actually why I went with XFX in the first place.

Replacing the cooler doesn't void the warranty, regardless of what the sticker says. (warranty coverage for aftermarket coolers only applies in the USA IIRC. Hence why the sticker is on the card...other markets don't have this options). The XFX rep on this forum and others has confirmed that you can in fact replace the cooler whilst keeping the warranty intact. The only stipulation is you need to keep the stock cooler should you ever send it back for warranty repair (the stock cooler will need to be on the card at the time of warranty return).
XFX will even install your aftermarket cooler for you should you be worried about damage. Other then shipping, I'm not sure what they charge for this service.

Your probably going to have an issue if you don't have the reference cooler to put back on it. Why didn't you put it in the retail box the card came in when you took it off?

Precisely why I want to contact the rep.

Can anyone help?

What card is it that you have?...maybe someone here has a factory hsf laying around that matches it. Post a pic if you can.

I've never had a problem with XFX and have RMAed a couple cards..
EVGA same deal both are on my list of vendors I buy from.

If you do not have the original factory heatsink / fan cooler then they will not accept it as an RMA. You will get it shipped back declined.

I've had a similar issue.... As soon as you put aftermarket anything on it the warranty is voided.... at least that's what I was told by the rep that I spoke with

It depends on where you are in the world.

North America - Aftermarket is allowed, and the warranty "void" stickers you see do not matter.
Europe - Aftermarket is NOT allowed, and the warranty "void" stickers you see DO matter. No tampering!

The problem with warranty claims in north america is if you get rid of the stock cooler. They can still be pricks and deny your claim as someone mentioned a few posts up.

According to XFX's own warranty statement regarding Radeon HD Cards:
XFX has carefully selected the optimal thermal or fansink component for your graphics card model. We do not encourage the removal of components due to damage that may result in the process. XFX understands that some enthusiasts may choose to replace the original component with their own cooling solution. To support the gaming community, we recommend that you contact XFX prior to any modifications so that we can update your profile and product registration to avoid potential issues with warranty support. In addition, XFX support will be able to walk through the installation with you or provide feedback and pointers on available options for your specific product. You may even consider shipping your components to XFX and allow the technicians at XFX to perform the modification for you (shipping charges to XFX apply).

Sorry but XFX support is horrible. I opened a ticket last week for a 5830 I have and it's been "With Technician" for 5 days. Don't know how hard it is to read a ticket that says "Fan is seized". Not much troubleshooting needs to be done when i can't even turn the fan blades by hand.

This is the second XFX card I have card, and the second one I have had problems with, and the second time I have a hard time getting any help from XFX.

No more XFX anything for me and I would recommend others do the same.

But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me "
