XFX Warranty?

Just went to go change out the thermal paste on my new 6950 and I noticed something interesting that I had not seen on my previous cards. On the HSF mounting bracket behind the chip, there were small white stickers on the screws that said "XFX Warranty Void If Removed." The stickers cannot easily be peeled off and you cannot undo the HSF without obviously tearing them up.

Is this not a bit of a change? I thought they allowed changing out HSF's or at the very least TIM?

If you are in North America, yes you may remove the HSF and still be under warranty. The sticker is only there for the EU.

That's what I had thought. The stickers had just thrown me off. I don't think they were on my 4890.
 
Products received by XFX must be in original condition and must have all original components in order to be covered. XFX does NOT warrant cards that have been tampered with (ie. volt-modding) by the user.
 
Well that is disappointing. Took the time to clean up all the goop off of the card, put on some MX-2 and my temps are horrible now. A good 7-10 deg higher than with the stock paste. Checked 3 times to make sure the core is getting good contact. This blows =/

edit -- make that a good 20deg C. It's not even usable now.
