Finally upgraded from my laptop and built a rig with a 7950, but it seems to be a bit too hot. Furmark goes up to around 74 and around 69c in an hour of crisis 3, which isn't terrible but with my custom fan profile the can is at 75% which is terribly noisy AND I'm having to run the card down clocked to 700mhz because the psu I tried reusing isn't up to the task of full power. I also popped the covers off my unused pci slots of my case to help it breathe some outside air.

My temps were much higher before I done some careful cable management, and I plan on using my 10 dollar newegg credit towards better case fans, but I can't help but think these temps are high, especially when I plan on overclocking when I get my new psu tomorrow.

Should I reseat the fan with my left over AS5? Give xfx a shout? Deal with the noise?

Edit: ambient temps are 71F or less also.

Hello Loser_guy, i want to help you resolve this quickly. You have a new PM.

74c isn't hot when running Furmark, though it is hot if you're clocked at 700. Sounds like you need better case flow to get cool air to the card.

You probably don't need to run your fan at 75%. Usually you don't see a tremendous benefit over 60.

Thanks for the message XFXsupport, sent one back.

I'm think I've been premature in posting, and it is probably due to poor flow in the case, guess I'll put my $10 newegg promo code toward some new fans.

The loud fan issue was addressed by XFXsupport and I will try to implement the suggested fix when I tear everything down tomorrow to install my new PSU.

Ehhhhh, what Fooshnik said. 74c isn't hot especially when you're benchmarking and/or playing Crysis.

What kind of case do you have? If you want nice temps, consider an open air case such as the Antec Skeleton.

Right now I'm using my old Xion case from the build I done in 05. When I'm replacing my psu I'll look up the specs of the fans and upgrade them to get some more flow..

The main reason I was worried about the temps was because the noise to keep at that level (as in I'd like to turn my fan down), I was running 690mhz core - especially since I'd like to OC the card, and the fact it's fairly cold in my apartment and I know summer is around the corner so that's going to bring my ambient temps way up.
