No need for bridge connectors, no performance loss and it works with framepacing tech. Can't wait to see it tested.

Did I miss something? Why would anyone be expecting near 100% Cf scaling, just from Mantle? Didn't see any specific references just to that.
If this works with the 79xx series and actually works as advertised then they just made my next upgrade decision a no brainer for me.
from the sound of it near 100% scaling up to the maximum cards allowed in a GPU array.
3x 4k displays in Eyefinity will beg to differ.
None of the 7000-series will have this because of what is mentioned in that slide-- "hardware DMA in the Crossfire compositing block".
In other words, the GPU needs to be built with it.
I would not be surprised it's only the R-series, even the 7000-series rebrands, that will be getting it. And, I'm sure there is more than enough spare bandwidth in PCI-Express 2.0 and 3.0 to allow non-ribbon cable Crossfire. When PCI-Express 4.0 comes out, there'll be much more than enough bandwidth available for this.
hear hear
Where does it say anything about better scaling? Not arguing, I am planning on xfiring two new cards so would like to see all the details.
Who the fuck has $3900 x 3 displays for your claimed setup?
There is already an excessive amount of bandwidth wasted in 3.0 x16 lanes.
It doesn't but there is one key thing mentioned in the slides.... No external bridge latency penalties (paraphrased).
That is telling me to expect much better scaling as there wont be any lag from having bandwidth constraints due to the bridge cable. Its only an assumption and if you ask me a damned good, still speculative, but a damn good one. Right now on my 6990 I get about 95% scaling between the two GPU's. So yes its possible especially with a new tech driving the bridge rather than a physical method dependent upon limited lines of data bus in those little cheap flexible couplers.

I dont many who are going to shell out that kind of cash for a display array. I would rather buy twin turbos for my diesel truck, invest in stock, or better yet buy some guns to kill zombies with when the world ends.,
edit** wrong person quoted but you get the point cha cha
2560x1440 displays can be had for $300-350
Where can you get those?
The Dell Ultrasharp 30" is currently 1100 and sometimes 900 on a sale.![]()

Monoprice? Ebay?have been @ that price for over a year now. some even do 120hz.
There's no way a NIB Dell 30" Ultrasharp (current generation) monitor is anywhere less than 900 on eBay.
You might be able to find a 30" two generations old for three or four hundred, but not NIB.
That's like saying I could find a 24" monitor for 50 bucks.....sure I could, but it would be a Dell 2407 from 2005.![]()

I would have gone with 3 30" 2560x1600 displays 3 years ago if video card technology was up to snuff. I bought a refurbed dell 3007 for $650 then and could have easily afforded a couple more. Now days you can still pick up 30" 2560x1600 monitors for around $800 new.
It's a very ignorant opinion on your behalf to think the rest of the world doesn't want something just because you don't or can't afford it.
No you aren't, the gpu can scale for you.most of them dont have scalers either, so you are stuck at 1440 no matter what.
You don't need a lot of luck, you just need to not be very unlucky. The vast majority don't have any major issue. Just get a square trade warranty if you are concerned. Check the satisfaction levels of owners threads around the net. Also, when bringing up the topic of Korean knock off panels, good luck getting one that doesn't have issues.
I agree its worth it if you just want a monitor that runs at 60hz. Most people getting a Korean don't though. Dell can't help them out at all no matter how good their customer service may be.It's worth the extra hundred per screen just to get the ease of dealing with Dell if it has issues.
