Dear mates,

This afternoon, I removed the stock HSF of my OEM X850XT to clean the fatory's thermal compound which was like a mass under my core .

I applied some AS5 on it. I had applied the AS5 cover whole of my core and under the bottom's area of the HSF just right on the core with adaquate layers.

However, the temp. doesnt decrease but also increases - about 3-4 Celcius? As I had tested as my friend's house, the idle temp was about 37C. But @ my home is 42C @ idle while this was just 38 yesterday.

Did I apply the AS5 wrongly?

Isnt it supposed to be a rice sized blob then sprad over core??

im not to sure

Per the directions, your also supposed to spread a VERY light ammount on the surface of the heardsink. As far as applyit it the the card itself, yes, just a rice sized blob spread completly and evenly over the core.

publik_en3my, keep in mine AS5 does need to set. I would say stress the card for a week, perhaps do some hot/cold cycles to help it set, and hopefully your temps go down. If not, it could be that your not making good contact. In that case, I would just take it all apart, clean it, and try agian.

Just a suggestion, but maybe your heatsink is gobbed up with dust? Try removing the dust and see what happens if this is the problem.
