hey guys. Recently while playing games, my computer will just suddenly reboot and im trying to figure out of my card is overheating or is it due to something else. The card works fine normally so i dont have any locking up during gameplay, just a sudden reboot. I just want to know how hot is to hot for a stock x800xt?
 
If it gets above 85°C I'd say its to hot. My xtpe got that hot with the stock cooler and did fine. Cards will vary however.
 
thats about what mine is at underload stock. in the middle of playing oblivion at that. do u think that could be the cause of my random reboots ( high temps)?
 
try underclocking it to see if that makes a difference on whether you get rebooted or not.
 
I have a Zalman 700 cooler on my X800XT and it never goes above 60 degrees on full load, overclocked.
 
My X850XT never goes above 65C, although it does have a different stock cooler than the X800XT...
 
I had to RMA my x800xt. Since I have it back, it goes ~45C idle and ~70C under load with stock cooler (VisionTek).
 
I have an X800XT AIW with the Zalman 700cu, and even overclocked to 545/1090, I never break out of the low 60's, even under extended gaming conditions.
 
You can determine if heat is the problem by opening the side of your case and blowing a fan in it while you play a game for a couple hours.
 
I had the same problem as you. What I found out was that for some reason the fan would stop when the computer was just sitting in windows. When I fired up a 3D program, the fan wouldn't fire back up at all.

Like the poster a few posts above this one, I went out and bought the vf700. Best 30 bucks I ever spent.
