X1900XT in stock!!!!!!!!!!

HINT: go buy ANY PCIe videocard at a local CompUSA, open the box, take the power adapter out, then return the videocard the next day & tell them you only had PCI slots, that you made a mistake.

You get instant gratification with the power adapter. And CompUSA will never miss it. Many people have PSU's with the PCIe power on it already. And they get people making that silly PCI vs PCIe videocard mistake all the time.

I know its not really honest. But its not that bad either. This is an "emergency" where you can't wait a few days for one to come in via UPS, etc. And if you feel bad.... order an adapter and just wait until it come in to return the whole videocard + adapter back to CompUSSR.

I'm still pondering the whole "missing connector thing". My retail x1800 xt came with a molex --> pci adapter, does the x1900 xt not come with this?

We have no such thing as the cards being released before NDA-Day. In fact all the usual suspects didn't even have anything on their sites regarding the X1900 series until today. And still you can't order them until 2pm tomorrow.

There is one thing I would like to know before putting down a serious wad of cash is what's the better card to get if you're going crossfire? I'd imagine the X1900XT rather than the XTX as the XTX drops it's speed to match the master? Or is there any physical difference between the two? I wonder if the bios from the XTX can be ported to the XT ;) ?

I guess we will find out soon enough!

On the XTX Vs XT. The XTX runs at it's faster speed when run in CF. (It does not de-clock) The XT and XTX are the same physical layout. I have not checked on RAM speed yet. In theory the XTX bios could run on a XT.

I believe that the "XTX" has the same definition as "Platinum Edition", but ATI removed the PE name because it was now connoted with cards that break and/or fail.

Ignoring the moral ramifications, this still may not work considering most places check the boxes for all the parts before issuing a return.

A better alternative is just to go buy an adaptor from a forum member who doesn't need one, or buy a new PSU that has the connector included.
