X-Fi is PCI 2.1?

I looked at the requirements for the X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card and it says it needs a PCI 2.1 slot, is that just a regular PCI slot found on most boards? I'm going to be ordering this card soon to hopefully get rid of the hissing my speakers emit from I think using onboard audio, and I will be re-using the card in my next build. I have the Creative Megaworks 250D 2.1 speakers and an Asus P4P800-E Deluxe mobo:

Will there be any problems with that combo? The only thing that is really confusing me is the PCI 2.1 thing. I've never heard of that before. Oh and while im at it, is there a different(better) connection that I will be able to use since I'll be getting the sound card instead of the standard green cable? Sorry for the simple terms lol, this is my first sound card. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's a regular PCI slot. You'll only have issues if you have like a 486 board w/ PCI (yes, they exist). And if you want a better connection, you'll need to use digital, but that will only work with 2-channel or AC3/DTS compressed material because Creative didn't seem to think a realtime AC3/DTS encoder would be useful.

Don't worry, your system is fine unless it's about 5 years old.

Will this add-on be worth it with the 2.1 speakers that I mentioned? Or should I wait out until I get a 5.1 speakers system?

Not worth it for 2.1 speakers. It's designed for use with a 5.1 setup and a receiver.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, thanks.:) I'll hold out until I get a 5.1 system.
